37-22 MK IV

Adjutant / Science Vessel

A compact war machine inspired by the science vessels employed by the Terran Dominion. This vessel is piloted by Adjutant 37-22 MK IV.

Adjutant is a Specialist-type hero that is adept that helping allies outlast enemies. Its EMP Shockwave trait drains precious mana from enemy heroes to force them out of the lane to recover. Its other abilities are designed to overextend to push, but retreat handily.

Medium attack speed.
Resource: Energy (Mana)

Note: Science Vessels are actually really big! It would be unrealistic to include them as a hero in-game. Adjutant will be a miniature version of the Science Vessel unit. She will be stationed in the center of the unit, with three modules rotating around her. She will float slightly above the ground and fire tiny missiles.

Combat Trait

EMP Shockwave
Passive ability. 4 second cooldown.

Adjutant releases an electromagnetic pulse every 4 seconds, burning X mana from all nearby enemies.

Primary Abilities

Defensive Matrix
10 Mana per second
Medium range. 2 second cooldown.
6 second channeled ability. (Press Q to cancel).

When cast, grants all nearby allies a small X point shield for 4 seconds. This effect is repeated every 2 seconds as long as the ability is channeled. (These shields are really weak).

Deploy Reinforcements
50 Mana
Medium range. 12 second cooldown.

Calls down a Terran drop vessel that unloads 2 Marines. Marines can attack at a range. Units summoned by Deploy will march with allied minions in the nearest lane. Lasts 20 seconds.

Point-Defense Drone
40 Mana
Medium range. 25 second cooldown.

Calls down an immobile aerial drone at the targeted location for 30 seconds. The drone grants vision around it and will automatically ping the minimap when a nearby enemy hero is spotted. Adjutant can only ping once every 8 seconds this way.

Special ping: "Murky detected."

Heroic Abilities

Irradiate
80 Mana
45 second cooldown.

Irradiates the target enemy, slowing it by 20% for 9 seconds. Every half-second, the primary target releases a damaging pulse to all adjacent enemies, dealing X damage to those enemies and 1/3 X to itself.

Planetary Fortress
Passive ability. 3 second cooldown.

Installs a permanent turret on Adjutant that auto-targets the nearest enemy, prioritizing heroes and structures. The turret fires upon the target for X damage, with Y splash damage, even while moving. 3 second charge time between shots. Deals bonus siege damage versus structures.

Special Mount

Lift-Off
45 second cooldown.

Rises in altitude to avoid combat. Adjutant moves 20% faster, takes 50% less damage, becomes unstoppable, and can pass over terrain unhindered for 3 seconds. Will cancel channeling Defensive Matrix if activated mid-channel (unless Dynamic Matrix is chosen at level 13).

Talents

Level 1
(D) Pinpoint EMP: Can now manually activate EMP Shockwave to burn four times X mana from the target. Short range. 30 second cooldown.
(Z) Blast-Off: Lift-Off now last 4 seconds.
EMP Storm: Increases the radius of EMP Shockwave by 50% and causes it to drain 1 ammo from enemy structures each pulse.
Titan Reactor: Health globes also grant mana.

Level 4
(W) Deploy Firebat: Increases the cooldown of Deploy Reinforcements by 2 seconds, but also spawns a Firebat. Firebats deal area damage in a short range. Firebats are effective versus minions.
(E) Global Presence: Reduces the cooldown of Point-Defense Drone by 15 seconds.
(Z) Cloaking Field: When you cast Lift-Off, you become stealthed for 5 seconds. Damage doesn't break this stealth for the first 2 seconds.
Reinforced Matrix: Increases the effectiveness of the shields placed on Adjutant by 300%. This includes Defensive Matrix.
(Secondary) Healing Ward

Level 7
(W) Deploy Marauder: Increases the cooldown of Deploy Reinforcements by 2 seconds, but also spawns a Marauder. Marauders throw grenades that deal additional siege damage.
(E) Tractor Beams: Point-Defense Drones now gain an auto-attack that fires a beam at the target, slowing them by 30% for 1 second.
(E) Hi-Sec Auto-Tracking: Point-Defense Drones are now permanently stealthed and their vision radius is increased by 20%.
(Secondary) Calldown: MULE
(Secondary) Scanner Sweep: Reveals the targeted area for 10 seconds and all stealthed enemies as long as they remain in it. Unlimited range. 30 second cooldown.

Level 13
(Q) Dynamic Matrix: Adjutant can now move while channeling Defensive Matrix. Lift-Off no longer automatically cancels Defensive Matrix.
(Secondary) Shrink Ray
Detector: Adjutant's auto-attacks reveal the target for 4 seconds. Point-Defense Drones reveal enemies that pass within melee range of them for 4 seconds.
Spell Shield

Level 16
(Q) Fractal Shield: Reduces the pulse time of Defensive Matrix to 1 second. Expired shields can be retained indefinitely for a maximum of 50% their original value.
(W) Infantry Armor: Deploy Reinforcement summons have 25% additional health.
(Z) Fuel Efficiency: Reduces the cooldown of Lift-Off by 15 seconds.
Static Field: EMP Shockwave pulses also reduce enemy heroes' current health by 2%.

Level 20
(R) Intensity: Increases the radius of Irradiate by 40%. The slow now spreads to nearby enemies, lasting 1 second.
(R) Planetary Overload: Planetary Fortress can now charge up to 3 additional seconds to increase the damage dealt by its next shot by up to 150%.

Design Notes / Builds

Adjutant is designed to be a Specialist hero with an emphasis on support. Her abilities allow her to set up sentries for vision to allow her to push up to the front lines more fearlessly. Since she isn't designed to engage in fights alone, it is important for her to know when to draw back. Point-Defense Drone was designed as a unique utility that directly alerts her and her allies to roaming enemies.

She can be built with a sole focus on Deploy Reinforcement, causing it to summon up to 4 heavy units that excel at pushing a single lane, while many of her other abilities can help wear down towers. Defensive Matrix makes tower fire less effective and soaks up large amounts of ammo.

She can also be upgraded to act like a counter to Nova / Zeratul if your team is too squishy. Her Point-Defense Drones can be really annoying, as they can be upgraded multiple times to really foil your roaming plans. Her Planetary Fortress ability can be really scary to have blast you while you engage and she runs away.

Another build can be to support allies in teamfights. While her shields are nowhere as potent as Tassadar's, they are generated over a larger range and can be refreshed indefinitely if you are not bursted down. Since she can't attack while channeling, Static Field and Planetary Fortress were designed to passively weaken your enemies. Think Chen's improved trait and Li-Li's cloud serpent. Pinpoint EMP can be picked early game to harass healers and mages. Irradiate can be chosen as a zoning talent that supports highly mobile assassins.

Depending on necessity, multiple talent tiers have options that boost her own survivability, such as Reinforced Matrix or Spell Shield.

While she may seem very similar to Zagara at first, her biggest differences are that (1) she has less potential for fighting enemies alone, (2) she doesn't have AoE damage, and (3) her vision is more versatile but less widespread.
