Al'Akir

the Windlord

Al'Akir the Windlord brings his supreme control of air and lightning to the Nexus as an assassin with massive area damage capabilities.

Combat Trait

1
Stormlings
Each ability cast spawns a Stormling which follows Al'akir for 8 seconds while it charges up. Once fully charged, each Stormling grants Al'Akir 30 mana and attacks nearby foes for up to 6 seconds.

Damage: 25 (+5 per level) per second
Range: 5

[Note: lower health, damage, and duration than a Hydralisk is the design intention. Preferentially attacks the same targets as Al'Akir.]

Primary Abilities

1
Lightning Strike
Deals high damage to enemies in an arc; enemies hidden behind others take indirect, reduced damage.

Damage: 110 (+30 per level) direct, 55 (+15 per level) indirect
Cooldown: 8 seconds
Mana cost: 65
2
Gusting Winds
Shoves enemies to the side at a targeted location, dealing moderate damage.

Damage: 65 (+15 per level)
Cooldown: 9 seconds
Mana cost: 45

[note: wall-targeted, similar to Tassadar's Force Wall, with a knock-aside effect smaller than Thrall's Sundering.]
3
Thunderstorm
Conjures a storm around the target enemy, dealing area damage over 4 seconds.

Damage: 90 (+24 per level) total.
Cooldown: 12 seconds
Mana cost: 55

Heroic Abilities

1
Static Shock
Charges, for 2 seconds, then unleashes a shock on all enemy heroes in a very long range. Enemies who stand together take reduced damage.

Damage: 260 (+28 per level), reduced 50% against enemy heroes standing close together.
Cooldown: 80 seconds
Mana cost: 80

[Note: damages enemies regardless of vision.]
2
Squall Line
Summons a line of tornadoes moving toward Al'Akir, pushing enemies slightly along their path and dealing damage over their duration.

Damage per second: 20 (+9 per level)
Duration: 6 seconds
Cooldown: 100 seconds
Mana cost: 80

Playstyle

As Al'Akir:

1) Consider dipping in and out of combat, casting abilities together to generate Stormlings simultaneously. This, combined with Stormling talents, can lead to high single target damage otherwise uncharacteristic of Al'Akir.

2) While they are strong individually, Lightning Strike and Gusting Winds have synergy against teams hiding behind a tank: knock the backline apart and unleash a full-damage Lightning Strike.

3) Al'Akir can force difficult decisions for the enemy team by combining Thunderstorm and Static Shock--to spread out, or stand together. With a friendly Al'Akir, capitalize on enemy indecision.

Against Al'Akir:

1) Al'Akir has limited crowd control and no movement abilities (until possibly Bolt of the Storm). He is vulnerable alone.

2) Al'Akir's damage has great counterplay--hide behind allies to reduce Lightning Strike damage, spread out against Thunderstorm, and stack together against Static Shock. But beware an Al'Akir who chains these effects.
