Al'Akir

The Windlord

"Al'Akir the Windlord was the Elemental Lord of air. He ruled over his domain of Skywall from his seat at the Throne of the Four Winds. He was once the foremost tactician in the Old Gods' horrific armies.[2] Aligned with the corrupted Dragon Aspect Deathwing and his fellow Elemental Lord Ragnaros in their efforts to usher in the end of days, Al'Akir was defeated by the mortal champions of Azeroth, who were able to enter Skywall from the breach in Uldum and destroy the Windlord within his own sanctum." -World of Warcraft Wiki

I designed Al'Akir as a zone-control Assassin (debated Specialist, but he's really an Assassin) with strength in skirmishes and point-control. If Cassia is 'stutter-stepping, the hero' Al'Akir is 'positioning, the hero'. Al'Akir's trait and many of his abilities are heavily dependent on his range and the range of other heroes from him. Getting close is risky, but has a huge payoff when the stun is triggered. Keeping people inside your range but not close is a good way to do poke/chip damage, especially if you talent into his trait.

As far as his talents, I tried to give him a unique structure where instead of 'fixed-purpose' tiers, I had the first three tiers each give you a choice between buffing one ability or buffing his trait. 13 has a number of options for survivability and 16 has a number of options for damage, but these options are responsive to the enemy team as well as your own build path. I view Al'Akir's goal primarily as sustained damage and control, but certain build paths do allow for good burst with a high opportunity cost.

Combat Trait

Static Shock
When a hero moves within a Range of 4.5 (standard Attack Range for Range heroes is 5.5), they are afflicted with a Static Shock debuff. If they move more than 6.5 units away from Al'Akir, the debuff will be purged. If they get as close as 2 units of Al'Akir with Static Shock active, they will be stunned for .75 seconds. The debuff lasts for 1.5 seconds, and deals 50 damage if it expires without triggering a stun.

Static Shock has a 1 second cooldown between applying to new heroes, and can only apply to 3 heroes at a time.

If a hero is stunned or damaged by Static Shock, they are immune to its effects for 15 seconds.

Primary Abilities

Lightning Strike
Deal 25 damage to a target within range of 4.5. Target emits a small AOE pulse dealing 50 damage. Heroes hit by this pulse also release a pulse - effect can only occur once.

Thunder Cloud
Al'Akir creates a Thunderstorm at the target location (AOE similar to Gravobomb). Deals 10 damage per second for 3 seconds and slows by 10%.

When Lightning Cloud expires, enemies at its center take 225 damage, and other enemies within its AOE take 125 damage.

CYCLONE
Al'Akir creates a Cyclone at his location that travels out in a straight line at heroic speed, stopping at 6 units away from him. The first enemy hero hit by the Cyclone is dealt 75 damage, and is carried to the Cyclone's final destination. While dragged, the hero is considered stunned. If the hero passes through another unit, that unit is dealt 150 damage and stunned for .75 seconds.

Cooldown: 16 Seconds
Mana Cost: 60 Mana

Heroic Abilities

Summon Stormling
Al'Akir can summon up to 3 Stormlings. Each will orbit around him in a circle, its distance from Al'Akir depending on how many are spawned: EG, the first will orbit at a range of 2 from Al'Akir, the second at 4, the third at 6. If one dies, the others will move closer to Al'Akir accordingly.

Stormlings have 450 health, and deal 40 damage anytime they pass through an enemy. They move at 75% hero speed.

For each Stormling summoned, Al'Akir gains 10 Armor. When all three are destroyed, his armor is reduced by 10 for 3 seconds.

Eye of the Storm
(Passive)

Al'Akir gains 10% Movement Speed faster for each charge of Static Shock active.

(Active)

Al'Akir creates an untalented Thunderstorm centered on himself, which moves along with him for its duration.

Cooldown: 30 Seconds
Mana Cost: 60 Mana

Talents

Level 1:



Heat Lightning (Quest):



Hit heroes with Lightning Strike's Pulse

Hit 30 Heroes:

Double the damage of Lightning Strike to its initial target.

Hit 3 Heroes with a single Strike:

Reduce Cooldown of Lightning Strike by 1 Second.

Storm Lord's Wrath:



Increase the Stun from Static Shock to 1 Second, but reduce the range in which it triggers to melee range.

Strikes Twice:



Each time Al'Akir casts Lightning Strike against the same hero increase its damage by 25. This effect stacks indefinitely, but will stop if Al'Akir selects a new target or if 10 seconds pass after the initial cast.

Level 4:



Acid Rain:



Increase the DOT effect of Thunderstorm by 50% per tick.

Fog Bank:



Increase Thunderstorm's slow to 20%.

Static Burn:



While Static Shock is active, it burns the target for 50 damage over its duration.

Level 7:



Gale Force:



Increase the speed of Cyclone by 50% as well as the damage it deals to heroes it collides with.

Path of the Storm(Quest):



Hit 20 Heroes with Cyclone's collision

At 10 Heroes:

Double the damage to its initial target.

At 20 Heroes:

Cyclone now erturns to Al'Akir. Heroes can be hit on the return, but the second collision deals half damage.

Static Pulse:



Triggering Static Shock, either by stun or by expiration, creates a Lightning Pulse

Mending Strikes:

Each pulse of Lightning Strike heals Al'Akir for 2.5% of his Maximum Life.

Storm's Embrace:

While inside of Thunderstorm, enemy heroes are Blind.

Cyclone's Kiss:

Heroes hit with Cyclone's collision have their Ability Power reduced by 25%.

Level 16:



Lightning Crashes:

Each subsequent pulse of Lightning Strike deals 25% increased damage.

Squall Line:

A bolt of lightning fires through the path of Cyclone, dealing 125 damage.

Windlord's Presence:

Static Shock can now be Activated to deal 50 damage to all effected targets. This ability has a 4 second cooldown.


Level 20:



Greater Stormlings:


Stormlings double in size and move at double the speed.

All-Seeing Eye:

The Thunderstorm created at Al'Akir's locations is now Talented, and 50% larger. While Active, his Vision Range is 50% larger as well.

Oncoming Storm:

Heroes are now immune to Static Shock's stun for only 8 seconds after it expires.

Windlord's Reach:

Lightning Strike and Thunderstorm can now be cast at global range. Casting these abilities outside of their normal range by more than 25% doubles their cooldown and mana cost.
