Arthas (Rework)

The Lich King

This is a update to the hero to make him feel more like The Lich King while keeping his core gameplay the same and making him feel in line with the newer hero releases through a talent rework and some basic ability tweaks.

Changes to Basic Abilities: Death Coil is now a Skillshot with roughly the same range as it had as a target ability, it can only hit Heroes and Monsters(Bosses and Objectives) and always heals you when it hits an enemy but can no longer be self-cast due to it being a Skillshot.

Frostmourne Hungers now has an animation due to it having to be channeled for 1.5 seconds, it also had it's cooldown increased from 12 seconds to 24 seconds. However it restores 100 Mana as opposed to 30 Mana and deals significantly higher damage from 99 to 158 to make it feel more impactful.

Howling Blast remains unchanged and Frozen Tempest just had it damage reduced from 40 per second to 34 per second to compensate for some of his new talents.

Take into account that some tuning changes to his ability's and talents will probably have to be made these numbers are just being used as placeholders, although I think they are not to far off balanced.

Frostmourne Hungers
Cooldown 24 seconds

Channel Frostmourne for 1.5 seconds causing your next basic attack to deal 158 additional damage and restore 100 Mana. If this kills a hero Arthas is healed for 20% of his maximum health.

Primary Abilities

Cooldown 9 seconds

Launch a bolt of shadow energy that hits the first enemy Hero or Monster it comes in contact with dealing 164 damage to them and healing you for 196 health.

Howling Blast
Mana 60
Cooldown 10 seconds

Freeze the ground beneath your enemies dealing 68 damage and Rooting them in place for 1.25 seconds.

Frozen Tempest
Mana: 15 per second
Cooldown 1 second

Deal 34 damage per second to nearby enemies Slowing their movement speed by 10% per second, stacking up to 40%. Heroes hit also have their attack speed Slowed by 10% per second, stacking up to 40%. Frozen Tempests effect lasts 1.5 seconds.

Heroic Abilities

Cooldown 80 seconds

Summons 6 ghouls that follow Arthas for 20 seconds. Ghouls attack enemies for 18 damage and have 240 health. In addition ghouls can be sacrificed to restore 264 health.

Summon Sindragosa
Mana: 100
Cooldown 100 seconds

Deal 220 damage to all enemies in a line and Slow their movement speed by 60% for 4 seconds. Also Disables non-Heroic enemies and Structures for 20 seconds.

Tier 1 Talents

(Q!)Frozen Wastes: Reduce the Mana cost of Frozen Tempest by 3. (Quest) Damage enemy Heroes 250 times with Frozen Tempest. (Reward) Frozen Tempest deals 50% increased damage and its effect lasts an additional 1.5 seconds.


(Q!)Path of Frost: (Quest) Root enemy Heroes with Howling Blast. (Reward) After Rooting 5 Heroes reduce the cooldown of Howling Blast by 2 seconds. (Reward) After Rooting 10 Heroes increase the Range of Howling Blast by 30%. (Reward) After Rooting 20 Heroes Howling Blast hits all enemies in between Arthas and its Destination.
Deathlord:[/b] Increases the Range of Death Coil by 30% and reduces its cooldown by 3 seconds if it hits an enemy.

Tier 2 Talents

Eternal Hunger: Each enemy Hero damaged by your abilities reduces the cooldown of Froustmourne Hungers by 0.35 seconds and Killing Heroes with Frostmourne Hungers also restores an additional 10% maximum Mana.
Icy Talons: Damaging enemy Heroes with Frozen Tempest grants you 5% additional attack speed for 1.5 seconds, stacking up to 75%. Duration increased to 3 seconds if Frozen Wastes Quest Talent is complete.


Razorice: Basic attacks against Slowed enemies deal an additional 38 damage and Reduce the damage they deal by 6% for 3 seconds, stacking up to 30%.

Tier 3 Talents

Rune Tap: Every third basic attack heals you for 4.5% of your maximum health.



Icebound Fortitude: Gain 60 Armor and become Unstoppable for 1 second. Cooldown 50 seconds.



(Q!)Deaths Advance: Takedowns increase Arthas' movement speed by 2.5% up to 15% this bonus is lost on death. (QUEST) Get 6 Takedowns without dieing. (Reward) Movement speed bonus is longer lost when killed and you can Activate Deaths Advance to gain 30% additional movement speed for 3 seconds. Cooldown 60 seconds.

Tier 5 Talents

Rime: After using Frostmourne Hungers your next Howling Blast deals 200% increased damage. If it hits an anemy Hero Arthas gains 30 Physical Armor for 3 seconds.

Necrotic Strike: Frostmourne Hungers Reduces healing the enemy receives by 75% and reduces their Armor by 15 for 4 seconds.

Embrace Death: Death Coil deals increased damage and healing the lower Arthas' current health is, up to mazimum of 50% increased damage and healing.

Tier 6 Talents

Frostmourne Feeds: Frostmourne Hungers now affects Arthas' next 2 basic attacks.

Remorseless Winter: Frozen Tempest can now Slow enemies movement speed by up to 50%. Upon reaching 50% movement speed reduction enemy Heroes are Rooted in place for 1 second. This effect can only occur once every 10 seconds.


Shattered Armor: Rooting enemy Heroes with Howling Blast reduces their Armor by 25 for 2 seconds.

Sudden Doom: Hitting an enemy Hero with Death Coil allows you to cast a second one for free within 2 seconds.

Tier 7 Talents

Legion of Northrend: Army of the Dead Summons 4 additional ghouls and sacrificing them heals for 50% more health. Ghouls now last until they are killed.

Sindragosa's Fury: Summon Sindragosa now deals 50% more damage and Roots enemy Heroes for 2 seconds then Slows their movement speed by 60% for 4 seconds.

Empower Rune Weapon: Frostmourne Hungers is now instant and resets the cooldown of your basic abilities, but it's cooldown is increased by 12 seconds.


Frozen Pulse: Being struck by a Stun grants Arthas Protected for 3 seconds. This effect has a 35 second cooldown.


Reanimate: When a nearby Hero is killed, raise a Zombie from their corpse that will fixate on the nearest enemy Hero matching towards them for the next 4 seconds. If the Zombie comes in contact with them it explodes dealing 200 damage to enemy Heroes in the area and Slowing their movement speed by 80% decaying over 2.5 seconds. This can only occur once every 4 seconds.

I really like this rework, but could you also add Passive effect to trait, which restors 20% of his Health and 10% of his Mana for takedown?
