Baal

Lord of Destruction

Baal, Lord of Destruction, is the brashest and most reckless of the Prime Evils. After the Dark Exile, he was contained in the Horadrim Tal Rasha and entombed. Centuries later, Diablo freed Baal, who then corrupted the Worldstone and damaged it irreversibly, forcing the Arcangel Tyrael to destroy it. He was eventually defeated by the Nephalem and his spirit was trapped by Diablo's lackey, Adria the Witch, in the Black Soulstone, in a plan to merge all Great Evils into a singular Prime Evil entity in Diablo himself. However, when new heroes rose up and once again managed to kill Diablo, Baal's spirit is set free.

Now Baal has torn a rift into the many realities of the Nexus, bringing with him a miasma of death and catastrophe. Soon he will join his brothers, Mephisto and Diablo, and together they shall conquer these new realms and all of infinity. After all, where Hatred and Terror tread, Destruction is sure to follow.

Baal is a ruthless Melee Assassin that summons Festering Appendages to help him fight and defend his territory.

Combat Trait

D - Festering Appendages
Cooldown: 15 seconds
Summon a Festering Appendage on the ground that lasts for 14 seconds. Festering Appendages have 486 Health will attack nearby enemies, dealing 55 damage per second. Store up to 3 charges. Baal can use Hands of Destruction to cause nearby Festering Appendages to Slam the ground. Up to a maximum of 4 Appendages may be active at a time.


Festering Appendages cannot be placed within 3 unit radius of each other.
Festering Appendages have an Attack Range of 5.0 and an Attack Speed of 1.00.
The length of Festering Appendages' Slam is equal to its Basic Attack Range. The width is 2.5 units.
The Slam has a 0.5-second wind-up and its impact has an area indicator visible to enemies.

Primary Abilities

Q - Hands of Destruction
Cooldown: 8 seconds
Mana: 40
Activate to empower Baal's next Basic Attack within 4 seconds, gaining 50% increased Range, 20% increased damage and causes him to dash towards his target. Nearby Festering Appendages will Slam towards Baal's target in a line after 0.5 seconds, dealing 137 damage and healing him for 25% of the damage dealt.


The charge distance is 3.5. When cast, Baal's hands become highlighted with fiery orange tints.
Festering Appendages will only Slam if they are within Range of Hands of Destruction's target.

W - Hoarfrost
Cooldown: 14 seconds
Mana: 50
Send out a wave of ice that travels forward in a line, Slowing all enemies hit by 25% for 1.25 seconds and dealing 102 damage. Enemies hit in the middle takes an additional 50% damage.

Enemies hit by Festering Appendages' Slam while affected by Hoarfrost are Rooted for 1 second. This effect can only happen once every 8 seconds per enemy Hero.


The wave travels in an Arrow Shaped V forward and the entire thing has a Width of 3.5.
The middle of the wave is the tip of the V and it has a 1.5 Width.
The projectile speed is 16 (similar to Orphea's Dread)
If multiple Appendages hits the target, the Root duration does not stack.
The cooldown per hero is an internal CD and does not have a separate UI

E - Mana Rift
Cooldown: 14 seconds
Mana: 50
Burn the ground in a line, dealing 104 damage and creating a Rift. The Rift lasts for 4 seconds and damages all enemies within for 34 damage every 0.25 seconds. Each non-Structure enemy damaged grants Baal 2 Mana, doubled against Heroes.

Enemies damaged by Festering Appendages' Slam while affected by Mana Rift are Silenced for 1 second. This effect can only happen once every 8 seconds per enemy Hero.


This is a Vector Targeting ability and the range for the first point cast is 6.0.
The Rift has a Width of 3.75 and a length of 5.0.
The projectile speed is 12 (similar to Imperius's W)
If multiple Appendages hits the target, the Root duration does not stack.
The cooldown per hero is an internal CD and does not have a separate UI

Heroic Abilities

R1 - Incineration Nova
Cooldown: 60 seconds
Mana: 75
After 0.5 seconds, send out a wave of fire around Baal that travels outward quickly, dealing 135 damage to all enemies in its path and spawning 2 Festering Appendages. Nearby Festering Appendages become Enraged for 6 seconds. Enraged Appendages gain 60% increased Attack Speed and heals Baal for 100% of their Basic Attack damage. Upon successful cast, reset the cooldown of Hands of Destruction.


The radius of the blast expands up to 15 (around Xul's Poison Nova)
The speed of the radius expansion is around Mephisto's Durance of Hate growth
Enraged Appendages become bigger and have orange tints
The CD reset of Q happens if not interrupted during the channel time

R2 - Vile Effigy
Cooldown: 70 seconds
Mana: 75
Create a Vile Effigy clone of Baal that lasts for 15 seconds. Vile Effigy mimics Baal's Basic Attacks and Basic Abilities but has 20% less Spell Power and Attack Damage and takes 50% more damage from Heroic sources. Recast this ability to control Vile Effigy's movements.


Completely identical to Baal, but has a darker orange tint
Counts as a heroic body, able to interact with spells that affect heroes
Vile Effigy cannot cast its own Festering Appendages
Vile Effigy will mimic Baal's AA and Basic Abilities.

Level 1

D - Cast Long Shadows
Increase Festering Appendages' Basic Attack and Slam Range by 15% and every 3 seconds, their Basic Attacks will deal 75% more damage and hit in an area.

Q - Devastation
Increase Hands of Destruction's bonus damage to 40%. If the enemy dies within 1.5 seconds of being hit, refund its Mana cost and Cooldown.

AA - Dark Wanderer
Basic Attacks against enemy Heroes grant 5% increased Attack Speed and Movement Speed, stacking up to 6 times, for 3 seconds.

Level 4

W - Inevitable Doom
Hoarfrost returns to Baal after 1 second of reaching its apex, dealing an additional 5% damage per enemy Hero hit in its first wave.

E - Lesser Evils
Mana Rift deals 60% more damage to Minions and Mercenaries and grants 100% more Mana from non-Heroes.

D/AA - Corrupting Tendrils
Enemy Heroes damaged by Festering Appendages' Basic Attacks are Slowed by 15% for 4 seconds. Baal's Basic Attacks against Slowed enemies deal 10% more damage, stacking up to 3 times.

Level 7

Q - Mass Destruction
Increase Hands of Destruction's charge distance by 20% and will now cause the empowered Attack to hit in an area.

E - Hell Rifter
If Mana Rift damages at least 2 enemy Heroes, Baal gains 20% Spell Power for 10 seconds.

AA - Enduring Evil
Baal gains 10% increased Healing from all sources. Basic Attacks Heal Baal for 20% of the damage dealt.

Level 13

W - Avalanche
Increase Hoarfrost's Slow by 15%. Each enemy Heroes hit with Hoarfrost reduces its cooldown by 1.5 seconds. Doubled if they are hit by the middle of Hoarfrost.

E - Burning Hells
Baal burns nearby enemies, dealing 35 damage per second. Hitting at least 2 enemy Heroes with Mana Rift increases this amount by 200% for the next 4 instances.

Active - Dark Exile
Cooldown: 30 seconds
Activate to become Unstoppable for 1.5 seconds, but causes all Festering Appendages to die, dealing 196 damage to nearby enemies over 6 seconds.

Level 16

Q/W - Heavy Hail
Hitting enemy Heroes affected by Hoarfrost with Festering Appendages' Slam no longer Roots, but instead Stuns them for 1 second and reduces their Armor by 15 for 4 seconds.

Q/E - Unstable Rift
Hitting enemy Heroes affected by Mana Rift with Festering Appendages' Slam causes the Rift to explode, dealing 235 damage per Appendage.

AA/D - Lord of the Horde
Basic Attacks reduce Festering Appendages' cooldown by 1.5 seconds. Using Hands of Destruction on a Hero grants nearby Festering Appendages 25% Attack Speed for 4 seconds.

Level 20

R1 - Circles of Hell
Increase Incineration Nova's damage by 25%. Enraged Festering Tendrils no longer Basic Attacks and will instead continuously Slam nearby enemies with 100% faster cast time. Baal is healed for 75% of Slam's damage while they are Enraged.

R2 - Hellish Construct
Increase Vile Effigy's duration by 7 seconds. Its Spell Power and Attack Damage are no longer decreased and it no longer takes bonus damage from Heroic sources. Upon dying or expiring, it explodes, dealing 297 damage to nearby enemies.

D - Demonic Domain
Festering Appendage grants nearby allied Heroes 12% Spell Power and 12 Armor. Their Basic Attacks reduce enemy Heroes' Spell Power by 2%, stacking up to 10 times.

Active - Sudden Death
Cooldown: 60 seconds
Activate to reset Hands of Destructions' cooldown. For the next 6 seconds, Hands of Destruction's charge will teleport Baal behind his target and its cooldown is reduced to 1 second.
