Baron Rivendare

Master of Stratholme

Baron Rivendare is a character in World of Warcraft I always liked.
His multiple appearences throughout the game makes him remarkable and awesome.
He is also a card in Hearthstone, with a nice ability and theme.

Combat Trait

Power of the grave
Whenever a nearby friendly minion dies, resummon it with 50% Health and 50% reduced Damage. Doesn't resummon a minion twice
Talent:   Deathpact: You can destroy a resummoned minion to restore 20% of your health.
            30 seconds Cooldown
Talent:   Ghoul Frenzy: You resummon Ghouls instead of normal minions, increasing their
            movement speed by 25% and they heal themselves for 25% of their health when
            a nearby enemy minion dies.

Primary Abilities

Death Siphon
Mana: 55
Cooldown: 8 seconds

Deals 85(+12) damage to target enemy,
healing you for 50% of damage dealt.
Talent: Vampiric Blood: Now increases your health by the healed amount for 10 seconds
Talent: Death's Embrace: Grants bonus heal equal to 15% of the enemy's maximum health.

Death and Decay
Mana: 75
Cooldown: 11 seconds

Deal 35(+7) damage per second to enemies in target area for 3 seconds.

Talent: Desecrated Ground:While standing in Death and Decay,Rivendare is immune to
            roots, snares, and effects that cause loss of control.
Talent: Glyph of Death and Decay: Also Reduces the movement speed of enemy heroes.

Unholy Aura
Mana: 18 mana per second

Deals 28(+6) damage per second to nearby enemy minions. Also increases the damage of nearby friendly minions by 10% and heroes by 5%.
Last until cancelled.
Talent: Also decreases the damage dealt by enemy minions by 10% and heroes by 5%.

Heroic Abilities

Summon Gargoyle
Mana: 100
Cooldown: 60 seconds
A Gargoyle flies into the area and bombards the target for 12 seconds, dealing 15(+5) damage per second.
Talent: Empowered Gargoyle: The gargoyle is active until he dies. Deals 50% splash
            damage to enemy heroes and 100% splash damage to minions and structures

Dark Transformation
Mana: 100
Cooldown: 100 seconds

Transform a minion into a powerful undead monstrosity for 30 seconds.Deals 90(+9) damage per attack. Can be ordered to charge and stun an enemy for 0.5 seconds, dealing 20(+5) damage.
The monstrosity deals extra damage to minions and structures.
Talent: Shadow Infusion: Increases the damage of the monstrosity by 10% for every 
           ability used while the monstrosity is alive. Does not require a minion anymore.

Special Mount

Rivendare's Deathcharger
Baron Rivendare is permanently mounted, but his speed is reduced to normal while in combat and 3 seconds afterwards

Combat trait

His combat trait is really powerfull if  you can manage to stay nearby friendly minions and you are able to push lanes. It has a small range (similiar to the range of the towers) but high value.
It might seem overpowered, but the resummoned minions will die instantly by any attacks
The best use is to soak the ammunition of the towers and fortresses.

Primary Abilities

Death Siphon

Death siphon is very similiar to Arthas' Death Coil but you can't heal yourself without a target.
It's a tool to let you push longer or to stay alive longer in teamfights or even in 1v1.
The talents give you even more usage against tanks.


Death and Decay
Every deathknight player knows this ability, and it's basically the same ability as in World of Warcraft with some little tweaks.
The talents represent a talent and a Glyph in WoW,
Giving you some help to get out of CC's and to slow down your opponent.

Unholy Aura
Oh yeah the unholy aura - known from Warcraft 3 and recently implemented in WoW - It's one of the cooles auras, giving your minions a higher attack rate.
I personally think that higher damage per hit is slightly better tuned than a higher attack rate.
It has a high mana cost and is visible for everyone, similiar to Arthas' Aura.
It's perfect for pushing lanes, but also viable in a teamfight.

Heroic Abilities

There are many possible heroic abilities I could choose for this Hero and I thought this two abilities are the best choices here.
Ideas I had:
-Armageddon:Impale a enemy, dealing a high amount of damage in his area.
-Army of the Dead: Would be pretty much Arthas Heroic
-Gorefiend's Grasp: Grips every enemy to a character(friendly and enemy) and slows them
                         for 1.5 seconds
-Anti-Magic-Zone: Reduce the damage taken of friendly heroes in a certain area for 5
                        seconds

But in the end I decided to go with a minion theme.

Summon Gargoyle:
Very strong against a single enemy, or to destroy a tower,
Similiar to Raynor's Raiders

Dark Transformation:
Very strong to push lanes, but the true power lies in his stuning ability, giving you a tool to disengage a fight or to CC your enemys

Mount,Skins and More

Of Course every Hero needs some skins and my descisions are self-explanatory.

The former Leader of the four horsemen and
very important character to the lore of Warcraft

Lord Aurius Rivendare


A former Paladin who wanted to kill Rivendare,
but as you might notice by his name,
he became Rivendare himself.
There's also a rumor that he's the son of Baron Rivendare

Of Course he has his own mount:
One of the rarest mounts in WoW - Rivendare's Deathcharger
Like the deathknights in Warcraft 3, and his appearence in Naxxramas, he's permanently mounted

I hope you got some feedback for me, especially for attack values,cooldowns and Mana,
but also if something might be very overpowered
