I have recently been toying around with the idea of another Diablo Support hero but this time a demon. The only demons who have ever done any sort of healing in Diablo games are the Fallen Shamans and who else should it be than Bashiok? Bear in mind that this is FAR from finished and none of these skills and abilities, both Primary and Heroic, cooldowns etc. are final. Changes will most likely be made in the near and more distant future to make this hero as polished and balanced as possible. Help, tips and suggestions are more than welcome!
Naturally it was quite a challenge to make up a demonic Support while still staying true to the demons' overall sadistic nature but eventually I got the idea of Bashiok being followed by three Fallen Grunts. Shamans are the true leaders of their Fallen packs, after all. Not only do the grunts fight for Bashiok but they also work as Bashiok's 'health batteries'. That's how Bashiok differs from other Supports; instead of using mana specifically for healing he sacrifices his minions' health to heal himself and his allies. That's why he has the lowest mana in the entire game. A good Bashiok player can balance the usage of his grunts' health and mana and use the grunts to not only deal damage but to protect himself, push lanes and possibly use to body block enemy heroes. And of course, like in Diablo II and III, he can raise his fallen minions back from the dead as his Trait.
Well, that's Bashiok! Even though this concept is far from finished I hope you got the idea how this hero is supposed to work in my vision. I am eager to hear your thoughts and discuss whether this kind of Support hero would work and how to improve him.
As for what type of resource maybe it could be something like "Each time you or one of your grunts heals or does damage you gain 1 demonic power (not the best name I know :p).
Anyway just wanted to give my idea, but of course it is completly up to you to accept it or not and I won't mind if you don't :)
Level 20 Talent Bonus:
The totem summons the spirit of Rakanishu attacks the nearby enemy heroes around the totem dealing 45 (+15/level) damage to one hero also emitting an electric nova dealing 30 (+20/level) damage to all nearby enemy heroes for 8 seconds.
I agree that Totem of the Fallen is not very good Heroic which is why its more like a placeholder till I make up something better or tweak it till its good enough in my opinion. For now, though, I shall change the totem to so that it can't be destroyed. I have also increased the cooldown reduction from 2 seconds to 5 seconds and decreased the amount of healing reduced from 15% to 10%.
Now as for Fire Chains, I understand wanting to make it a Heroic but it does not have to be, like I was saying with Passive Abilities for the Grunts, but if it were to be a Heroic then I just feel it is lacking as it does not fit an Assassin or Support in any way because only the Grunts and Bashiok are connected (+1 Enemy Hero with level 20 Upgrade) and to affect an Enemy that must be within Melee range. So if Bashiok is in against a team of ranged he must (more or less) make himself vulnerable to make use of Fire Chains. I know with good positioning it would be extremely effective but it has to be 100% everything in Bashiok's Favor or it is next to useless in my opinion.
Totem of the Fallen is "OK" but it is not strong enough to warrant being "Destroyable" by the Enemy Team or being a Heroic for that matter.
Now, I will read up on Bashiok and Diablo in general before I make a Suggestion as to what a Heroic could be because, as I stated, I have not played any Diablo games.
As for Talent's, T2 Curser, 2 seconds is not worth a 15% nerf to healing. Other than that they look good imo.
I would just like to make one thing clear; you don't control any of the Fallen Grunts individually like you control all of the three Lost Vikings individually. They just follow, defend you and attacks the same targets you do. So you can't separate them from Bashiok like you can separate the vikings. I am planning to give Bashiok talents that buffs his Fallen Grunts in some way but I don't think I'll be giving them any individual abilities. At least not to one of them like with the Lost Vikings. And just to make it clear; all three Fallen Grunts are the same so they don't have their own individual stats or differences in health etc. like the Lost Vikings do. If you got that idea then I apologize if I gave that impression in the concept. Anyway, I do have some interesting talent ideas so stay tuned for that!
Truth to be told I was having difficulty deciding whether I should have made the Fire Chains as one of Bashiok's Basic Abilities or Heroic. I decided to make it as a Heroic in the end because it is one of the Champion/Elite packs' abilities in Diablo III. And annoying one too if you play as a melee class. Plus I had hard time to make up any better Heroics that would have fit Bashiok as a Fallen demon and healer so there's that. I'm not even 100% convinced about his Totem of the Fallen Heroic either so its more like a placeholder until I can make up something better or tweak it until I'm happy with it. I was also not too happy with the Flaming Skull ability either at first but since you say you like it I think I stick to it for now.
The Basic Concept of the Fallen Grunts and using those as your Healing/Damage Capabilities is really nice. I am going to by saying that I would like it if you would do the Talents a bit like TLV (The Lost Vikings) in a sense that A Grunt may gain a beneficial effect (Like Olaf and Block or Erik's Spy Games) as they would really give a tremendous amount of Utility to the Character and would make keeping the Grunts Alive or Killing them very beneficial and would allow the Player to choose from a variety of skills and talents.
Now, as for the actual Concept, Demonic Exchange, Flame Skull and Fallen Sacrifice are excellent and I would not change them.
Fire Chains looks like it would be a cool Heroic but if you brought it back some it could be a cool Secondary Ability instead of a Heroic.
I think it would be cool if the Grunt's had a Burning Rage effect, it would make a DPS build a bit more viable because this is a Battle Focused Support.
