Calydus

Champion of the Black Harvest

The wymtongue Calydus has served the various masters of the Dreadscar Rift through endless years of torment and ridicule. He has learned many survival tricks under each administration, and now he will bring that power to bear in the Nexus.

Combat Trait

Soul Shard
D - Activate to empower your next ability.

Passive - Hero takedowns reset the cooldown on Soul Shard.

Cooldown: 18 seconds.

Primary Abilities

Fire Bolt
Q - Deals 120 (+4% per level) damage to the target.

Range: 6.5
Cost: 25 mana
Cooldown: 2 seconds


Soul Shard transforms this ability into Summon Imp.

Summon Imp
DQ - Summons an Imp to attack the target, casting Fire Bolt continuously for 75% of the damage. Imps have 380 (+4% per level) health and last 12 seconds.

Cost: 80 mana

Call Dreadstalkers
W - Summons two ferocious Dreadstalkers to attack the target, which each deal 30 (+4% per level) damage per second. Dreadstalkers have 290 (+4% per level) health and last 12 seconds.

Cost: 80 mana.
Cooldown: 14 seconds.


Soul Shard transforms this ability into Summon Felhunter.

Summon Felhunter
DW - Summons a Felhunter that deals 50 (+4% per level) melee damage per second and uses Spell Lock. Felhunters have 560 (+4% per level) health and 25 Spell Armor, last for 12 seconds, and reveal nearby enemies.

Spell Lock - Silences the target for 1.5 seconds. Cooldown: 6 seconds.

Cost: 80 mana
Cooldown: 24 seconds

Summon Voidwalker
E - Summons a Voidwalker to protect you for 12 seconds. Voidwalkers have 1200 (+5% per level) health and 15 Physical Armor, and deal 30 (+4% per level) melee damage per second. Voidwalkers will use Suffering on enemy Heroes that attack you, and will use Sacrifice if you take damage below 30% health.

Suffering - Deals 120 (+4% per level) damage and forces the target to attack the Voidwalker for 0.75 seconds. Cooldown: 8 seconds.
Sacrifice - The Voidwalker dies, giving Calydus a shield equal to 50% of the Voidwalker's maximum health for 6 seconds.

Cost: 80 mana
Cooldown: 20 seconds


Soul Shard transforms this ability into Summon Succubus.

Summon Succubus
DE - Summons a Succubus that deals 60 (+4% per level) damage per second at 4 range and uses Seduction on the nearest target when summoned. Succubi have 480 (+4% per level) health and last for 12 seconds.

Seduction - Channels for 3 seconds, stunning a hero for the duration or instantly defeating up to two non-boss mercenaries.

Cost: 120 mana
Cooldown: 40 seconds

Heroic Abilities

Infernal
R - An Infernal falls onto the battlefield, dealing 380 (+4% per level) damage in a wide area and stunning enemies for 1 second. Infernals deal 100 (+4% per level) melee damage per second, have 1400 (+4% per level) health, have Immolation Aura, and last for 12 seconds.

Immolation Aura - Deals 60 (+4% per level) damage to all nearby enemies every second.

Cost: 120 mana
Cooldown: 140 seconds

Felguard
Passive - A Felguard accompanies you. Felguards deal 120 (+4% per level) melee damage per second, Charge enemy heroes, and use Cleave. Felguards have 140% of Calydus' health and 15 Armor, and their death timer is 50% of your own.

Charge - Charge at an enemy and stun it for 0.5 seconds. Cooldown: 12 seconds.
Cleave - The next basic attack deals 200% damage to all nearby enemies. Cooldown: 9 seconds.

R - Activate to command your Felguard to guard a location or focus an enemy.

Talents

  • Level 1

    • Intensity (Q) - Quest: Damage heroes with Fire Bolt.
      Reward: After hitting 20 enemy heroes with Fire Bolt, increase its damage by 20%.
      Reward: After hitting 40 enemy heroes with Fire Bolt, increase its range by 1 and its damage by an additional 10%.
      Reward: After hitting 60 enemy heroes with Fire Bolt, increase its range by an additional 2.
    • Ferocity (W) - Quest: Your basic attacks against enemy heroes increase your attack damage by 0.8 and your demons' attack damage by 0.2, stacking up to 100 times.
      Reward: After gaining 50 stacks, you and your demons gain 20% attack speed.
      Reward: After gaining 100 stacks, you and your demons gain 10% attack speed and damage.
    • Servitude (Passive) - Quest: You gain 0.08 health regeneration and 0.03 mana regeneration for each second you have a demon active, stacking up to 400 times. Having more demons grants more stacks.
      Reward: After gaining 400 stacks, all of your abilities cool down 20% faster.
  • Level 4

    • Mage Hunter (DW) - Reduces the cooldown of Spell Lock by 2 seconds and reduces the cooldown of Soul Shard by 50% when used to summon a Felhunter.
    • Empower Voidwalker (E) - Your Voidwalker gains 10 physical armor. Reduces the cooldown of Suffering by 2 seconds, and increases Sacrifice's shield amount by 100%.
    • Free Love (DE) - Reduces the cooldown of Summon Succubus by 25% and Reduces the cooldown of Soul Shard by 50% when used to summon a Succubus.
  • Level 7

    • Grimoire of Service (Passive) - Your basic demons last an additional 3 seconds.
    • Grimoire of Supremacy (Passive) - Your basic demons gain 25% additional health and damage.
    • Felcloth Bag (D) - Soul Shard gains a second charge, but the cooldown is increased by 4 seconds.
  • Level 13

    • Singe (DQ) - Your Imps' Fire Bolts cause their targets to receive 40% reduced healing for 4 seconds.
    • Ankle Biters (W) - Dreadstalkers deal additional damage with each attack equal to 0.5% of the target's maximum health.
    • Devour Magic (DW) - Felhunters gain Devour Magic, which removes all shields from an enemy and heals the Felhunter for 20% of its maximum health. Cooldown: 6 seconds.
  • Level 16

    • Stoke the Flames (Q) - Dealing damage to heroes with Fire Bolt increases the damage of your next Fire Bolt within 4 seconds by 15%, stacking up to 3 times. Your Imps gain their own stacks.
    • Demonic Empowerment (Active) - Activate to increase all damage dealt by you and your demons by 15% for each active demon you have. Lasts 6 seconds. Cooldown: 40 seconds.
    • Fury of Xel'nath (E) - Your basic attacks deal 30% additional damage for each active demon you have.
  • Level 20

    • Abyssal (R) - Summons an Abyssal instead of an Infernal, which deals 100% more damage and has 50% more health.
    • Wrathguard (R) - Replaces your Felguard with a Wrathguard, which has 25% more attack damage, attack speed and movement speed, and uses Bladestorm. Bladestorm deals 480 (+4% per level) damage to all nearby enemies over 3 seconds, and has a 12 second cooldown.
    • Soul Link (Passive) - While you have a demon active, all damage you would take is redirected to your highest-health demon instead.

Calydus was designed with the following design goals:
  • Capture the fantasy of the Demonology Warlock
    • Almost all of the value should come through summoned demons in one way or another.
    • Summons a variety of different specialised demons with abilities suited to specific situations.
  • High skill cap
    • High Risk
      • Fundamentally squishy
      • Short range spells
      • Low mobility
      • Long cooldowns
      • Straightforward counterplay (killing demons)
    • High Reward
      • Powerful, impactful abilities
