Deckard Cain

Last of the Horadrim

Deckard Cain is a hero who focuses on study and storytelling to support his allies. Throughout the course of the game, Cain will improve himself by gathering knowledge of enemy heroes, and by sharing that knowledge with others he can periodically strengthen his whole team.

His initial stats are quite weak, but with each basic attack against an enemy hero he gathers "Knowledge" of that hero and will deal more damage to, and receive less damage from that hero. Visually, the 5 opposing heroes would each have a small portrait above Cain's health bar with a number indicating his current Knowledge level of that opponent.

Cain has powerful abilities, but they require him to be stationary to channel them. This leaves him extremely vulnerable to ganks and dives, especially early on in the game when he hasn't acquired Knowledge of his enemies to mitigate their damage. Interupts are also a major concern as they leave him out the mana cost and with his abiltiies on cooldown. It's essential for him to use his vision (Lay of the Land) to monitor and control dangerous access points and keep his positioning precise.

P.S. It fit his kit best for him to be a ranged attacker so we'll say he throws books or something at his enemies.

Combat Trait

Knowledge (D)
Passive- Gather Knowledge- Each basic attack against an enemy hero grants Cain 1 stack of Knowledge of that hero (max. 25 stacks on each enemy hero). Each stack of Knowledge increases all damage Cain does to that hero by 1%, and reduces damage Cain takes from that hero by 1%. Whenever Cain dies he loses 5 stacks of Knowledge he's gathered on each enemy hero.

Active- Share Knowledge- Allied Heroes benefit from Cain's knowledge for the next 3 seconds.

Channel to share a Soothing Tale with nearby allied heroes, healing them for a 420(+4%/lvl) health over 3 seconds. Moving will interrupt the tale.

Frightful Tale (E)
Channel to Deal 100 damage in a cone over 2 seconds. Enemies still within the cone at the end of it's duration will be knocked back a short distance. Moving will interrupt the tale.

Heroic Abilities

Town Portal
Channel for 3 seconds to create a portal at a targeted nearby location and at the Altar of Storms. The Portals location will be displayed on the ground upon initial cast. Upon completion, allied heroes within either portal's radius will travel to the other portal's location. Moving will cancel the channel.

Channel to stun a nearby enemy hero for 3 seconds. Cain cannot move for it's duration.

Level 1

    1. Quick Study (D)- Gather 2 (up from 1) stacks of Knowledge from each basic attack against an enemy hero and increase maximum stacks to 30 (up from 25), but lose 15 (up from 5) stacks upon death.

    2. Distanct Places (W)- Lay of the Land can be targeted at any location. Vision duration is reduced to 10 seconds (down from 20) and the cooldown is increased to 30 seconds (up from 12).

    3. World Traveler (W)- Vision granted by Lay of the Land lasts for 30 seconds (up from 20).

Level 4

    1. Speak Up (E)- Extend the range of Frightful tale by 30%.

    2. Wordstorm (E)- Frightful Tale deals damage in all directions, damage is increased by 25%, and Cain can move at 60% speed while channeling.

    3. No Time to Talk (E)- Damage and Channel time of Frightful Tale are removed. Frightful Tale knocks back 60% further and applies a 30% slow to enemy heroes.

Level 7

    1. Upon Further Inspection (W)- Vision granted by Lay of the Land extends through obstacles. Additionally, stealthed enemies are revealed for 3 seconds when entering vision granted by Lay of the Land (this effect can only occur once every 15s).

    2. Identifying Weakness (E)- When Cain knocks back an enemy hero with Frightful Tale he recieves 5 stacks of Knowledge of that hero.

Level 13

    1. Desperate Tale (Q)- Allied heroes below 50% health will receive 100% more health from Soothing Tale.

    2. Booming Voice (Q)- Soothing Tale will now affect allied heroes anywhere in the Nexus.

    3. Glorious Tale (Q)- Allied heroes gain 25 armor while affected by Soothing Tale.

Level 16

    1. Let Me Finish (Q)- Allied heroes cannot be reduced below 1 health while affected by Soothing Tale.

    2. Horadric Power (D)- Cain receives twice the benefit from each stack of Knowledge of enemy heroes (does not change effect of Share Knowledge).

    3. Been Here Before (W)- Double the duration of vision granted by Lay of the Land and refresh the duration of any active Lay of the Land that you pass through.

Level 20

    1. Tome of Town Portal- Town Portal's cooldown is reduced to 30s and allied heroes gain 25 armor for 3 seconds after traveling through a portal.

    2. Walk and Talk- Increase the range of Stay Awhile and Listen by 25% and both Stay Awhile and Listen and Soothing Tale can be channeled while moving.

    3. Horrifying Tale (E)- Instead of a knockback, enemy heroes will be feared by Frightful Tale for 1 second.

    4. Inspirational Death (D)- Upon Cain's death, allied heroes will benefit from the Knowledge Cain had before he died until his return. Cain no long loses stacks of Knowledge upon death.
