I classify Dehaka as a Warrior... But I wanted to stay true to the nature of the primal zerg abilities to adapt in order to survive. So based on talent choices, and picking one of his two Lvl 10 passives you may specialize more towards being a tank, or an assassin.
I wanted to create a unique game mechanic for Dehaka making him somewhat more difficult to play. His ability to collect essence from fallen foes and deciding when to incorporate it into himself to evolve and grow stronger should I hope make for fun and challenging game play. As you will read below his combat trait increases the power of his abilities as he collects more essence... But consuming that essence grants Dehaka a permanent buff at the cost of losing ability power... My vision is that players will learn when a good time to save essence for the short run to deal damage is, and when you should temporally hinder yourself to grow stronger in the long run.
Combat Trait

Collect Essence
Passive: Nearby minions drop 1 Essence and heroes drop 3 essence when they die, which you can pick up. Half Essence lost on death. May collect a total of 10 Essence. Essence enhances abilities.
Active: Consume 10 Essence to permanently decrease all damage taken and basic attack damage dealt by 1% up to a total of 10%. 60 seccond cooldown.
Primary Abilities

Lunge
Lunge at the target immediately dealing 100% (plus 10% per essence collected) basic attack damage.
Cooldown 10 seconds.

Evolve Spines
Grow Spines that for 5 seconds cause targets dealing basic attack damage to you to take 25% (plus 5% per Essence collected) of your basic attack damage in return. After the 5 seconds your Spines explode outward to deal 50% (plus 10% per Essence collected) of your basic attack damage to all enemies in range.
Cooldown 20 seconds.

Regenerate Appendage
Activate to regenerate 0% (plus 2% per Essence collected) of max health every 2 seconds for 10 seconds. During this time your movement speed is reduced by 15%.
Cooldown 30 seconds.

Evolve Adrenal Glands
Passive Ability. Increase the basic attack damage bonus of activating Collect Essence to 2%, with a new limit of 20%. Activating Collect Essence also now increases attack speed by 1% per stack up to 10%. This affects Essence already consumed.

Evolve Carapace
Passive Ability. Increase the damage reduction bonus of activating Collect Essence to 2%, with a new limit of 20%. Activating Collect Essence also now increases your maximum health by 1% per stack up to 10%. This affects Essence already consumed.

Primal Pack Leader
Activate to double the bonus amount of basic attack damage dealt, and damage reduction received by your consumed Essence stacks for 10 seconds. Nearby heroes receive half of this effect.
