- An offensive duelist that is most efficient at skirmishes and trades.
- Roll the Bones and Outlaw are Edwin's signatures. Utilizing combo points and gaining short buffs lets Edwin tackle any situation in the way he desires.
- Grappling Wire does not benefit from hitting a hero. Instead, Edwin can only pull himself if he hooks onto walls. Proper positioning is very important.
- Between the Eyes is a ranged finisher that can be used when only burst damage is needed from accumulated Combo Points.
- Can summon the Defias Brotherhood to Pay a Visit if he needs an enemy "checked on"; or let his men Finish the Job, executing a weakened hero for the kill.
Combat Trait
1
Outlaw
Basic attacks build up combo points, up to 5 combo points. Each point lasts 7 seconds and dealing additional attacks refresh their duration.
For each combo point Edwin has, his basic attacks deal 5% increased damage.
Primary Abilities
1
Q: Blade Thrash
Cooldown: 6 seconds
For 5 seconds, Edwin's basic attacks also damage 2 nearby enemies around the target.
2
W: Grappling Wire
Cooldown: 7 seconds
Shoot out a grappling hook that latches onto any wall and pulls Edwin to the target location. If the hook hits an enemy target it deals 236 (+4% per level) damage over 4 seconds but nothing else happens.
3
E: Roll the Bones
Cooldown: 2 seconds
Roll a set of dices and consume all combo points. Depending on the amount of points consumed, gain a different buff.
1 Point: Parry the next basic attack within 1.5 seconds, reducing its damage by 75%.
2 Points: 30% increased attack speed for 3 seconds.
3 Points: Drink a potion and recover 372 (+4% per level) health over 3 seconds.
4 Points: 25% increased movement speed for 3 seconds.
5 Points: On next basic attack Gouges the target, blinding them for 1 second and dealing 150% increased damage.
Secondary Abilities
1
1: Between the Eyes
Cooldown: 20 seconds
Pull out a concealed pistol and shoot a target in the head, consuming all combo points and dealing 126 (+4% per level) damage plus 40% increased damage per combo point consumed. Can be cast while moving.
Heroic Abilities
1
Pay a Visit
Cooldown: 75 seconds
Mark a target enemy hero anywhere on the map, preparing a kindly visit from the Defias Brotherhood.
After 2 seconds, five Defias Elite will unstealth around the target and start attacking them, each dealing 25% of Edwin's attack damage and having 30% of his maximum health (applying full bodyblock).
They last up to 7 seconds and after the target is eliminated, they vanish back into the shadows.
2
Finish the Job
Cooldown: 60 seconds
Mark a nearby enemy hero with a flare, revealing them for up to 8 seconds. If the duration ends and they are still alive, two Defias Marksmen will fire their guns from the shadows, each dealing 30% of the target's missing health in attempt to finish Edwin's job. No loose ends.
Tier 1 Talents
Tier 2 Talents
Superior Blade: While active, deal 150% increased damage to minions and mercenaries, and hit 1 additional non-heroic unit. Hook and Sinker: Now pulls even if it hits an enemy hero. Hitting a wall now reduces the cooldown by 3 seconds. Caltrop Wire: Upon hitting a wall or a target, unleash an area of caltrops that slow enemy movement by 12% for 4 seconds. (Even if Edwin doesn't pull). In the Mood: Reaching 5 Combo Points also increases movement speed by 15%.
Tier 3 Talents
One and Three: Parry completely blocks physical damage and the potion heals for 30% more. Two and Four: Attack speed and movement speed are both 5% stronger. The Five: Gouge attack also silences the target for 1 second and can be used with Between the Eyes.
tier 4 Talents (Heroics)
Pay a Visit: Summon attackers to pressure a target enemy hero from anywhere on the map. Finish the Job: Reveal a target and attempt to execute them after a short period of time.
tier 5 Talents
Wide Slash: Every third basic attack lets Edwin cleave all enemies around him, granting him 30% of the damage dealt as health. Chained Wires: Can store up to 2 charges, with 1.75 seconds cooldown between casts. Quick Processing: Reduces Roll the Bones' cooldown to 0.75 seconds. Simply Larger Bullets: Pierces the target and hits the first enemy behind.
tier 6 Talents
Flash: Reduce the target's movement and attack speed by 20% for 2.5 seconds. Blade Flurry: Splashes to two additional targets and increase splash range by 20%. Hamstring: While active, slow all targets' movement speed by 8% for 1.75 seconds per attack, up to 24%. The Bigger They Are: While active, deal 2% of all targets' maximum health each attack.
tier 7 Talents
Contract Sealed: Bandits have 15% more health each and last until killed. If the main target is slain, they'll seek out enemy heroes together. Good Results: If the target dies, resets Finish the Job's cooldown. Passively increases Edwin's sight radius and attack range by 1.
How to Roll the Bones
Pay a Visit or Finish the Job?
Ending and Author's Notes
Well thank you very much for making it this far. Somewhat like my Morgl Concept, Edwin is not as easy to digest at single glance.
Edwin is not mechanically complex (unless you cannot resist the urge to Grappling Wire an enemy instead of the wall next to them), but he's not simple by any means if you checked out Roll the Bones in the section above. A player's experience and decision making plays the largest role in this hero, and I would love to see more like these in the Nexus.
I wanted to make Edwin VanCleef, the founding father of the Defias Brotherhood, good justice. He's an awesome character and I hope I could convey his cunning and resourceful nature with this concept.
Alrighty, if you liked this concept I suggest checking out my other works! If I had to choose one I would say Serbii. I really like how his design turned out.
I'd want him in the game RIGHT NOW if this would be his kit! XD I really like your concept. Maybe you should share it on reddit. Developers may read it and get some inspiration hopefully.
I feel like I've been put to shame, my old Edwin concept is rather.. Bland in comparison to this. This concept is great, and does a character I want to see in the game justice.
His abilities work together amazingly; Roll the Dice is a great tool, and one that would definitely be amazing in the right hands. Between the Eyes is a great finisher, and the other two provide useful tools. His two ultimates are great; Perhaps some tuning but they're still so fitting.
I think I'd have to do a Between the Eyes build; Becoming an executioner.
Lights Out, Anything besides Superior Blade(Depending on needs), The Five, Finish the Job, Flash, Chained Wires/Simply Larger Bullets, and Ready for Another.
If you're not looking for talent builds, I figured I might as well share anyways, inspire people to maybe do the same. (^_^)
Thank you so much!
Heh, that's the burst build. Big numbers for the win?
I believe we're always looking for talent builds from other people. It's a large compliment I think, and I'll start to do so more often now that you mentioned it.

PS: created my account just to write you this XD
I'll consider doing so soon!
One thing though: base stats would be nice, just to see an idea of how durable / swift he is.
Base Stats-
Health: 1999
Regen: 3.85
Attack Speed: 1.2
Attack Damage: 132
His attacks are on par with other assassins in terms of speed, health somewhere less than Butcher and damage around the same as Zeratul!
Thanks for the comment :D Appreciate it!
There are few comments that can top "hope the devs see this".
I thank you very much :')
