Paladin of Zakarum

If you thought Varian screwed up matchmaking, wait until this guy arrives.

The D2 paladin could conceivably fit a number of roles. Support and warrior roles fit the fantasy, but the most common playstles were bruiser like zealots and vengeance paladins. This hero uses all three concepts in a varian type warrior/support combination.

Combat Trait

Aura
Use to switch between offensive and defensive auras. Paladins start with prayer and might as auras, these change based on the ultimate the paladin chooses.

Prayer: Heals allied heroes near the paladin by a small amount each second.
Might: Increases all damage dealt by allies heroes near the paladin by 10%.

Primary Abilities

Holy Bolt
Point and click. Heals target ally for a medium amount, or damages an enemy for about half that amount. Stores up to 3 charges, medium/low cooldown.

Shield Charge
The paladin charges in a direction. If the paladin hits an enemy with the charge, that enemy is stunned for 1 second and the charge ends.

Holy Shield
Gives the paladin an extra 30 armor for 5 seconds. 10 second cooldown.

Heroic Abilities

Zeal
When toggled, the paladin attacks faster, but each attack consumes mana. If there are two paladins in a quickmatch game, the one on your team will always chose this ultimate.

When zeal is chosen as an ultimate, the paladin's auras switch to:

Fanaticism: increases all allied damage by 10%, attacksare 10% faster, and cooldowns recharge 10% faster.
Meditation: Allies heal a snall amount per second, and gain a small amount of mana (or equivalent amount of other resource) each second.

Fist of the Heavens
Strikes a friendly or enemy hero. The target is healed if friendly and damaged if enemy. Up to 5 heroes near the strike are hit with holy bolts, damaging or healing as appropriate, with healing prioritized. In a quickmatch game, this is one of the skills your team's paladin will never pick, and the enemy teams paladin always will.

When chosen as an ultimate, the paladin's auras become:

Thorns: Attacks against heroes within this aura cause the atackers to take a small amount of damage.
Cleanse: Heals for a small amount each second. In addition, can remove stuns, roots, slows, etc. from a maximum of 1 ally every 5 seconds.

Awe
Silences and blinds an enemy hero with a melee attack. this is the other ultimate that your team's paladin in quickmatch never takes, and the enemy team's paladin always takes.

Changes the paladin's auras to:
Holy Freeze: Slows the movement of nearby enemiesby 20%. Paladin attacks slow enemy attack speed and cooldown recovery by 10% per attack, up to 30%, for a short time.
Defiance: Heals for a small amount each second, and raises allied physical and spell armor by 10.
