Mage Rework Concept

This is a rework concept for Tassadar, though it's more of a complete overhaul than just a rework. My intent was to shift him from his current niche ADC-enabler Support role into a Mage focused around sustained damage, utility and soft crowd-control, and area denial.



Major Changes:


Distortion Beam has been changed to Prismatic Beam, and its damage has been increased slightly. There are several new talents to add additional damage and utility to make up for the removed slow.

Plasma Shield has been removed and replaced with Lightning Strike, which deals burst damage in a small AoE and slows enemies hit.

Psionic Storm now deals significantly more damage and now has a baseline quest to increase its size, and multiple utility and damage focused talents have been added.

Phase Shift itself remains largely unchanged, but it now has an additional talent.

Force Wall has been replaced with Feedback, which deals damage after a short time based on the amount of mana the target has spent during that time. It's level 20 upgrade, Feedback Loop, causes it to hit its target a second time at reduced damage.

Archon has been reworked. While Tassadar can no longer cast basic abilities other than Phase Shift while Archon is active, Archon has received significant buffs to its damage and sustain to compensate. Twilight Archon has been changed to High Archon, and now, in addition to making basic attacks refresh the duration by 2 seconds, also allows Tassadar to use Psionic Storm and Lightning Strike while Archon is active.

Activate to increase Tassadar's vision range by 50% and reveal the area within his vision range for 5 seconds.

[Basic Attack] Prsimatic Beam
Damage: 20
Attack Speed: 4/sec.
Range: 6.5
Tassadar's basic attack is a channeled beam that deals 20 damage every 0.25 seconds. The attack speed of Prismatic Beam is fixed and cannot be increased or decreased.

Attacking an enemy with Prismatic Beam restores 2 mana per second.

Radius: 0.5
After 0.5 seconds, summon a lightning bolt to strike a target location, dealing 350 damage to all enemies within a radius of 0.5. Enemies hit are slowed by 60%, decaying over 2 seconds.

[W] Psionic Storm
Cooldown: 8 sec.
Mana Cost: 40
Damage: 130/sec.
Cast Range: 8
Duration: 3 sec.
Radius: 2.5
Create a storm of psionic energy at a target location for 3 seconds. Enemies within a radius of 2.5 take 65 damage every 0.5 seconds.

❢ Quest: Damage enemies with Psionic Storm.
❢ Reward: After hitting 300 enemies, Psionic Storm's radius is increased by 10%.
❢ Reward: After hitting 600 enemies, Psionic Storm's radius is increased by an additional 15%.
❢ Reward: After hitting 900 enemies, Psionic Storm's radius is increased by an additional 25%.

Cooldown: 30 sec.
Mana Cost: 70
Duration: 2 sec.
Movement Speed: +30%
Tassadar gains 30% additional movement speed and becomes Invulnerable and invisible for 2 seconds.

Heroic Abilities

Cooldown: 80 sec.
Mana Cost: 80
Damage: 250
Bonus Damage: 2/mana
Cast Range: 12
Duration: 3 sec.
Target an enemy hero. After 3 seconds, that hero takes 250 damage, plus 2 damage for every point of mana they spent during this period. This bonus damage ignores armor and does scale with level.


Enemy heroes that do not have mana as a resource take 50% additional damage from this ability.

Cooldown: 60 sec.
Mana Cost: 80
Shield: 100% of max health
Damage: 180
Attack Speed: 1/sec.
Range: 6.5
Splash Radius: 2.5
Duration: 8 sec.
Tassadar transforms into an Archon for 8 seconds, gaining a shield equal to 100% of his maximum health. Basic attacks restore 5% of this shield's value.
While Archon is active, Tassadar's basic attack becomes an electric shock with an attack speed of 1 per second that deals 180 damage to the target and splashes for 50% damage to all enemies within 2.5 range.

Tassadar is unable to cast Psionic Storm or Lightning Strike while Archon is active.

Reactivate this ability while Archon is active to cancel the ability.

Talents



Level 1


[Trait] Revelation
Oracle is now a targetable ability and can be cast anywhere on the map.
Enemies revealed by Oracle remain revealed for its duration, even if they leave the area.

[Basic Attack] Prismatic Alignment
Every second spent attacking an enemy increases Prismatic Beam's damage by 10%, up to 50%, for 1.5 seconds.
? Quest: Every 10 seconds spent attacking enemy heroes increases the maximum damage bonus of Prismatic Alignment by 10%, up to 100% total.
? Reward: After attacking enemy heroes for 50 seconds, Prismatic Beam's range is increased by 1.

[W] Persisting Turbulence
? Quest: Damage enemies with Psionic Storm, including all enemies hit so far.
? Reward: After hitting 300 enemies with Psionic Storm, its duration is increased by .5 seconds.
? Reward: After hitting 600 enemies with Psionic Storm, its duration is increased by an additional .5 seconds.
? Reward: After hitting 900 enemies with Psionic Storm, its duration is increased by an additional .5 seconds.

[Passive] Khaydarin Amulet
? Quest: Collecting a Regeneration Globe increases Tassadar's mana regeneration by 0.1 per second, up to 2 per second.
? Reward: After collecting 20 Regeneration Globes, Tassadar heals himself for 10% of the damage dealt to heroes.


Level 4


[Trait] Clairvoyance
Tassadar gains 25 armor and 20% additional movement speed while Oracle is active.

[Q] Static Interference
Lightning Strike reduces enemy spell damage by 50%, decaying over 4 seconds.
Hitting an enemy hero with Lightning Strike grants Tassadar 50 physical armor against the next 2 basic attacks from heroes.

[E] The Khala's Embrace
Phase Shift heals Tassadar for 30% of his missing health over its duration.

[Passive] Will of the Templar
Tassadar gains shields equal to 2% of his maximum health every second, up to 20%, after not taking damage for 5 seconds.
While this shield remains, dealing damage to heroes grants additional shields equal to 25% of the damage done for 5 seconds.


Level 7


[Trait] Mental Acuity
? Quest: Hero kills reduce the cooldown of Oracle by 3 seconds, up to 15 seconds.
? Reward: After killing 5 enemy heroes, Oracle's vision range bonus is increased to 125%.

[Basic Attack] Distortion Beam
Tassadar can now move while channeling Prismatic Beam.
After remaining stationary for 2 seconds, Prismatic Beam slows enemies by 25%.

[W] Void Infusion
Damaging an enemy with Pisonic Storm slows them by 5%, up to 30%, for 1.5 seconds.
Psionic Storm deals 100% additional damage to shields.

[Passive] Psionic Projection
Increases the cast range of Psionic Storm and Lightning Strike by 30%.


Level 13


[Trait] Foresight
Every enemy hero revealed by the initial cast of Oracle increases Tassadar's spell power by 5%, up to 25%, for the duration of Oracle.
Basic abilities cast while Oracle is active have their cooldowns reduced by 50%.

[Q] Accumulating Charge
Lightning Strike damage splashes in a 50% larger area when it hits an enemy hero.
? Quest: Hit enemy heroes with Lightning Strike to increase its damage by 4%, up to 40%. This bonus is reset if Lightning Strike misses an enemy.
? Reward: After reaching 40% bonus damage, Tassadar gains the first 5 stacks of Accumulating Charge permanently.

[W] Intensifying Plasma
Whenever a Psionic Storm damages an enemy hero, its damage is increased by 7.5%, up to 75%.

[W] Stormburst
Psionic Storm's first instance of damage is increased by 50% for every enemy it hits, up to 300%.


Level 16


[Trait/Basic Attack] Focused Beam
Prismatic Beam deals additional damage to enemy heroes equal to 1% of their maximum health while Oracle is active.
Damaging enemy heroes with Prismatic Beam increases the duration of Oracle by 0.25 seconds, up to a maximum of 5 additional seconds.

[Q] Thunderstruck
Lightning Strike now stuns enemies for 1 second before slowing them, and the slow no longer decays.

[W] Phase Disruption
Psionic Storm ignores enemy armor.
Enemies within Psionic Storm have their positive armor reduced by 50% or by 10, whichever is greater.

[E/Passive] Adun Toridas
Increases Phase Shift's duration to 3 seconds and movement speed bonus to 40%.
If Tassadar takes fatal damage, his health is instead reduced to 1 and Phase Shift activates for free. This effect has a 60 second cooldown.


Level 20


[Basic Attack] Prismatic Link
Prismatic Beam now chains to up to 2 additional enemies within 4.5 range for 50% damage.

[Q/W] Thunderstorm
Psionic Storm now has 3 charges, but its cooldown is increased by 4 seconds. All charges are restored by the cooldown.
Hitting at least one enemy hero with Psionic Storm reduces the cooldown of Lightning Strike by 0.5 seconds.
Hitting at least one enemy hero with Lightning Strike reduces the cooldown of Psionic Storm by 8 seconds.

[R1] Feedback Loop
Feedback hits its target a second time after 3 more seconds, dealing 125 damage plus 1 damage for every point of mana the target has spent since the initial cast.
Enemy heroes who do not use mana as a resource do not take bonus damage from the second hit.

[R2] High Archon
Tassadar can now cast Psionic Storm and Lightning Strike at no mana cost while Archon is active.
Basic attacks now refresh Archon's duration by 2 seconds.
