A high health, large hitbox, anti-dive tank, designed to counter high mobility heroes, and enable sustained poke comps while remaining viable in a traditional tank role. His playstyle revolves around switching between being Rooted for sustain, zone control, and Uprooting for engagements. Featuring no mobility enhancements, (even negative mobility) he relies on AoE slows and stuns to catch out enemies, and can peel for his teammates with roots and knockback.

Disclaimer: Admittedly I went too heavy on the CC for him, which would probably facilitate some long-ish cooldowns. I've spent long enough working on it that at this point I'd really just like to use it as a launch point for a discussion on having an Ancient as a hero for HotS. I think it would be a cool addition and fill a viable niche, however poorly I may have conceptualised that role.

Combat Trait

Root / Uproot
D - Root: After channeling for 1.5 second, root yourself in place, becoming immune to displacement effects and increasing health and mana regeneration by 2% max per second.
D - Uproot: After channeling for 1 seconds, regain normal mobility.

Primary Abilities

Hurl Boulder / Hurl Enemy
Q - Hurl Boulder: Throw boulder a medium distance at target area, dealing Heavy damage.
Q - Hurl Enemy: Throw enemy a medium distance forward, dealing Moderate damage on impact. A hit with another enemy or terrain will stun and damage both targets for 1 second.

Grasping Roots / Earth Stomp
W - Grasping Roots: After a 1 second delay, root all enemies in a small area for 1.2 seconds.
W - Earth Stomp: Damage and Slow enemies by 50% in a medium radius, decaying over 2 seconds.

Repelling Roots / Limb Smash
E - Repelling Roots: Knockback enemies a medium distance in a narrow arc in target direction, dealing light damage.
E - Limb Smash: Deal moderate damage and stun enemies in an area in front of you for 1 second.

Bramble Eruption
R2 - Bramble Eruption: Create a rapidly expanding patch of bramble that deals light damage, and slows enemies who pass through it by 50%. Every 1% movement speed point above 50% increases damage by 2%. Lasts 6 Seconds. Only usable while Rooted.

Trample
R2 - Trample: Become Unstoppable and charge forward a medium distance, passing through enemies, dealing moderate damage and Stunning them for 1.5 seconds. Only usable while Uprooted.

Level 1
Catch: After hitting 15 enemies with Hurl Boulder, gain 20% damage on impact, and boulder will continue to roll for a short distance dealing 50% damage.
Fling: After throwing 10 enemies, Hurl Enemy gains 20% range and becomes a vector based ability, allowing you to choose throw direction.
Fertile Soil: After collecting 20 regen globes, Rooting increases health regeneration by another 2% HP per second for 5 seconds.

Level 4
Starwood: Gain 20% spell armor for 4 seconds after [color=#ff00001Rooting.[/color]
Ironwood: Gain 20% physical armor for 3 seconds after Uprooting.
Snatch: Reduce the cast delay and area of Grasping Roots by 60%

Level 7
Violent emergence: Uproot channel time reduced by 0.5 seconds and gains knockback.
Deep Roots: Root channel time reduced by 0.5 seconds and also roots enemies in a small radius for 1 second.
Earth Shatter: Remove the decay of Earth Stomp, and creates a slowing area for 3 seconds.

Level 13
Root Network: Increase knockback distance of Repelling Roots and range of Grasping Roots by 25%.
Long Limbs: Increase the radius of Limb Smash and grab distance of Hurl Enemy by 25%
Shed Bark: Convert 10% of your max HP to shields that decay over 6 seconds. Health lost this way will regenerate over 4 seconds. 30 second CD.

Level 16
Force of Nature: Uprooting grants Unstoppable for 3 seconds.
Ancient Protector: Gain a ranged attack while Rooted.
Groan: Reduce enemy attack speed by 50% for 4 seconds. 40 second CD.
Seedling: Plant a seedling with 100 hp at target location. Upon death, re-spawn at seedling with 20% size and stats, slowly building back up to normal over the course of your original death timer.

Level 20
Warpath: Increase the range and damage of Trample by 20% and also roots enemies hit for 3 second.
Thicket: Increase the Radius and speed of Bramble Eruption by 20%, and slows by an extra 10%.
Gigantic: Increase size and max HP by 20%. Movement speed is capped at 90%
We are Gnarl: Convert 80% of you max HP into a shield that is divided among every other ally in range. Size and stats are reduced by 80% slowly returning to normal over 20 seconds. 80 second CD.
