Jake Badlands

Highway Star

Hailing from the planet Xeno Prime, Jake Badlands is a punk rocker who tore up the Rock and Roll Racing circuit almost as badly as he tore up every hotel room he's ever been into. Now, him and his customized Marauder are ready to race the Nexus to the ground.

Notes: Impact attacks are caused by colliding with Jake's front bumper and deal damage instantly, regardless of attack speed cycle. If Jake has no Acceleration stacks, meleeing a target just results in him pushing his car up against it and gunning the engine, spinning his wheels fruitlessly. It still does damage, but he looks silly. If he does have Acceleration stacks, and anything he hit didn't die, all targets hit are pushed back and he loses 4 stacks of Acceleration (and he probably immediately smacks into them again). He cannot lose stacks more than once per second. Impacting and killing something does not lose Acceleration, so with enough damage he can steamroll minion waves flat.

While his trait is active, he cannot freely change direction; he has a turning radius about 2/3rds the width of a Keep.

Combat Trait

1
Get Your Motor Running (D)
Activate this trait to force Jake to constantly drive forward, even when not given a movement order. While active, every 0.5 seconds you are moving, you gain a stack of Acceleration, granting 5% speed, 10% impact damage, and knockback on impact attacks, stacking up to 10 times. Standing still, or colliding with terrain or an enemy not killed by the impact, causes these stacks to drop off. Activate this trait again to return to normal movement.

Your autoattacks deal damage on impact with hostile units.

Primary Abilities

1
Rogue Missile (Q)
Fires a missile that detonates on the first target it meets, dealing [130 + 25/lvl] damage in an area of effect and pushing all affected units outward. This skillshot cannot be aimed; it always fires in the direction Jake is facing when it is used.

Cooldown: 12 seconds
2
Bearclaw Mine (W)
Lays an explosive mine underneath Jake's car, which arms immediately. It remains there until an enemy detonates it, or until Jake has laid three other mines. Enemies that touch the mine detonate it, causing [60 + 20/lvl] damage in a small area of effect.

Cooldown: 6 seconds
3
Tow Hitch (E)
Throws a towing cable in the chosen direction. A hero hit by the cable becomes attached to Jake for 2 seconds. Attached targets cannot move away from Jake out of the cable's maximum range, and if Jake moves away from them, they are dragged along for the ride.

Cooldown: 15 seconds

Heroic Abilities

1
Sundog Beam (R1)
Fires off seven slow-moving energy projectiles that move toward the nearest enemy hero, dealing [60 + 10/lvl] damage on impact. If another enemy hero moves closer than their current target, Sundog Beams will move toward the new closest target. [Maximum range is about three screens.]

Cooldown: 60 seconds
2
Born To Be Wild (R2)
The cooldowns of all Basic Abilities are reduced to 2 seconds. You gain an Acceleration stack every 0.1 seconds you are moving, and do not lose Acceleration stacks in impact or becoming stationary. Lasts for 6 seconds.

Cooldown: 100 seconds

Special Mount

1
Nitro Boost
Grants 5 Acceleration stacks and activates Get Your Motor Running for 4 seconds. During this time, impact attacks that do not kill their target damage you as well. Colliding with terrain counts as an impact attack for this purpose.

Cooldown: 35 seconds

Talents

LEVEL 1 TALENTS
Atlas Powerplate: [Identical to Block.]

Prize Money: [Identical to Bribe]

Baker's Half Dozen (W): Give Bearclaw Mine 3 charges and increases the maximum number of active Bearclaw Mines to 7.

Bumper Carnage (D): Impact attacks deal 150% bonus damage to Minions and Mercenaries.

LEVEL 4 TALENTS
BF's Sticksauce (W): Your Bearclaw Mine damage slows affected targets by 75% for 1 second.

Every Night Your Line Is Busy (E): Tow Hitch drags along the ground if it doesn't hit a valid target. Dragging the tow cable into a target attaches Tow Hitch to them for the remainder of its duration.

Atlas Power Lifts (D): Stopping and colliding with things causes you to lose Acceleration at half the rate.

Locust Jump Jets (Z): Activating Nitro Boost while at 10 or more stacks of Acceleration causes you to jump into the air, becoming temporarily invulnerable and bypassing terrain and structures.

I Want It, I Need It, I Bleed It: Regeneration Globes collected near you are shared with your entire team, regardless of distance. The range at which you gather Regeneration Globes and experience is doubled.

LEVEL 7 TALENTS
Paranoid: [Identical to Clairvoyance]

Pit Crew: [Identical to Calldown: M.U.L.E.]

Ooh, It's a Killer Machine (Q): Damage of Rogue Missile increases by 50%, and it may now be aimed up to 45 degrees off from Jake's facing. Selecting a target area outside of this range defaults the Missile to straight ahead.

Kings And Queens Step Aside (Q): Area knockback of Rogue Missile increases by 50%. Rogue Missile may be manually detonated in midflight by pressing Q again.

Atlas Power Boss (D): Increase the maximum stacks of Acceleration by 5.

LEVEL 10 TALENTS
Sundog Beam (R1): Fires off seven slow-moving energy projectiles that move toward the nearest enemy hero, dealing [60 + 10/lvl] damage on impact. If another enemy hero moves closer than their current target, Sundog Beams will move toward the new closest target. [Maximum range is about three and a half screens.]

Born to be Wild (R2): The cooldowns of all Basic Abilities are reduced to 2 seconds. You gain an Acceleration stack every 0.1 seconds you are moving, and do not lose Acceleration stacks in impact or becoming stationary. Lasts for 6 seconds.

LEVEL 13 TALENTS
Implosion Rocket (Q): Enemies are no longer pushed out of the radius of your Rogue Missile; they are sucked toward its center instead. Minions and Mercenaries are Dazed, lowering their attack rate by 75%.

KO Scatterpacks (W): Your Bearclaw Mines spread smaller explosives out in a circle, gradually increasing the detonation radius of the mine and increasing damage by 33%.

All Right, Hold Tight (E): Tow Hitch can target friendly Heroes. If it does, its cooldown is reduced to 2 seconds.

Atlas Power Claws (D): Your turning radius while Get Your Motor Running is active is reduced by 66%.

To The Bone: Enemies who take damage from your impact attacks while you have any stacks of Acceleration become Vulnerable for 1 second. Vulnerable enemies take 25% increased damage from all sources.

LEVEL 16 TALENTS
Mine Launcher (W): Bearclaw Mines can now be deployed at range [about half a screen].

Atlas Power Winch (E): Tow Hitch can now attach to structures and giant enemies. Attempting to drag them will not cause either of you to move, but will deal continuous impact damage to them without losing stacks of Acceleration. Tow Hitch's duration increases by one second.

Break The Speed Of Sound (D): Acceleration stacks now grant 10% movement speed and 15% impact damage.

Sudden Death Overdrive (D): Acceleration stacks also grant 3% ability power. Bonus ability power for Bearclaw Mines fades after 15 seconds.

Wild Hurricane: The range of your impact attacks increases to 2.0 (Normal melee heroes have a range of 1.5). You deal impact damage driving past an enemy even if they are not directly in your path.

LEVEL 20 TALENTS
Sundog Blitz (R1): Sundog Beam projectiles travel at double speed, have infinite range, and gain a damage bonus for the distance traveled [up to 50% at 3 screens or so away].

Lookin' For Adventure (R2): Capturing a Mercenary Camp or completing a map objective instantly resets the cooldown of Born to be Wild.

Nexus Bladed Rims: Impact attacks deal 20% more damage and Slow the target for one second.

Bolt of the Storm: Activate to teleport a short distance. After teleporting, you retain the same facing and all stacks of Acceleration.

Visual

Basic Skin: A Marauder from Rock and Roll Racing. Comes in red, blue, and green. While Jake's Trait isn't active, or when Born to be Wild is active, the driver's side window is rolled down and he's leaning his head out. His mohawk is blue/green/red depending on tint.

Master Skin: "You would think that after a while, Jake would realize that instead of modding the Air Blade's weapons and nitro onto a Marauder, it's cheaper to buy an actual Air Blade. He didn't. He stole this one from Grinder X19."

Replaces Jake's car with an Air Blade, with a glowing blue crescent on the front to mark his "front bumper" (since the Air Blade's front comes to a point). Instead of rolling his window down, the opaque glass of the cockpit retracts to let you see the driver. Comes in black, white, and purple tints.

Road Warrior Jake: "The Lord Jake! Warrior of the Badlands! Ayatollah of rock and rollah (racing)!"

Replaces Jake's car with a Mad Max-styled post-apocalyptic vehicle scavenged together out of metal plates and tubing, with spikes for rammin' people and spare tires as side armor.

Dance: Jake hops out the window onto the roof/hood and "ghost rides the whip".
