Karax

Master Phasesmith of the Daelaam

Utilizing an assortment of robotic devices and orbital abilities, Karax controls the battlefield through map presence and constant pressure.

Combat Trait

Servitors
Karax has no main attack. Instead, two servitors float alongside him, firing small beams (similar to a colossus) at nearby enemies, prioritizing heroes. 'Attacking' with Karax will focus the attacks of the servitors. In their default auto-acquiring mode, they will prefer to maintain different targets.

Primary Abilities

Orbital Bombardment
Karax calls down a telegraphed blast from the Spear of Adun (which also showed up in the nexus) in a small area. The area is highlighted with a target (visible to all) for 1.5 seconds before the blast lands, dealing moderately high damage. Can hold up to three charges, with no cooldown between casting.

Warp in Photon Cannon
Warps in a Photon Cannon to the target location. Karax has equipped these special cannons with their own pylon crystals, making them self-powering, however he must be in the area to provide the initial power field to warp them in. Warping in takes 15 seconds.

Photon Cannons block movement, and last until they are destroyed, only two can be deployed at a time. Photon Cannons will attack nearby enemies in a range of six, and do not aggro mercenaries. Damage dealt is slightly higher than Gazlowe turrets.

Warp in Observer
Places a stationary observer (similar to how they can 'un-pack' in Co-Op mode in SCII) than can see over walls and is permanently cloaked. The observer lasts for 15 seconds, and pressing E a second time will cause the observer to detect cloaked enemies in its radius, but reduces its life by 5 seconds (if already less than 5 seconds, does not extend life). The observer dies to a single hit or ability.

Talent Ability

Enables photon cannons (W) to be constantly healed for a small amount.

Warp In
Level 20 Talent Ability

After a 3 second channel, teleport Karax anywhere on the map. 90 second cooldown.

Heroic Abilities

Solar Lance
After a 3 second charge-up, which is telegraphed on the terrain, a massive laser lance slices across an area, dealing large damage and leaving the ground aflame, dealing DoT to enemies that cross it.

Khaydarin Monolith
After a 5 second channel/build time, Karax creates and takes control of a Khaydarin Monolith. The monolith has a large range, sees over walls, and has a devastating (albeit slow) ranged attack that destroys 5 ammo from structures it hits, as well as having 50% increased damage against structures. If the monolith is destroyed, Karax takes 50% of his max HP as damage, and is stunned for 3 seconds in the place where the monolith used to be.

Q: Photon Warp-In
Teleports an existing Photon Cannon to the nearby area after 3 seconds. If no photon cannons exist, it warps one in normally, with the 15 second build time.
No cooldown unless a new cannon is created

Special Mount

Servitors
Due to the nature of Karax's trait, servitors can still attack enemies while Karax is mounted. However 'attacking' (focusing the servitors) will still cause Karax to dismount.

Tactics

Karax is an incredible lane pusher/sieger. His abilities are less useful in personal engagements (due to their telegraphed nature or build times), but can still be effect in clustered team fights. His observer is especially useful in maintaining map awareness, as well as countering cloaked enemies. His 'basic attacks' are not very powerful, but can be talented into dealing fairly serious splash and DoT, especially against lane minions and structures.

Talent Ideas

Tier 1
Solar-Powered Observers: Observer now lasts indefinitely, but loses its cloak and ability to detect cloaked units after the initial duration. (can still only have one observer at a time)
Optical Sensor Enhancements: Increases the target-acquiring range of servitors (also increases the distance Karax can be from a target to focus his servitors)
Demolitionist: Each servitor attack drains ammo from structures and deals 40% increased damage.

Tier 2
Burning Lances: Servitor attacks now apply a DoT for 20% of the original damage over 3 seconds.
Shield Batteries: Photon Cannons (W) now come equipped with personal shield batteries, adding a regenerating shield equal to 25% of their maximum HP.

Tier ??? (I'm not good at balance so idk)
Hyperactive Photon Generators: (W) Photon Cannons now deal 50% splash damage around their target.
Efficient Servitor Ports: Gain an additional Servitor (max 2 servitors per target)
Orbital Reconstruction Beam: Enables the reconstruction beam passive
Enhanced Control Systems: Increase max photon cannons on the map to 3.
Pre-Charged Solarite Cannons: Adds two additional charges to Orbital Bombardment. The first two charges recharge twice as fast as the last 3.
Psionic Disruption: (Q) Orbital Bombardment now stuns enemies for 1 second
Disintegration Lens: Servitors now deal 100% normal damage in a small area around their target

Tier 7
Solar Devastation: (R1) 3 seconds after the initial beam, a second beam starts charging (three seconds) to fire back across the area.

Photon Overcharge: (R2) Adds a shield for 50% max HP to the monolith, also adds a new ability to the monolith. (W) Increase the attack speed of the monolith and all photon cannons on the map by 100% for 5 seconds.

Warp In: Grants use of the Warp In ability
