Lich

Background: Kel'Thuzad was the founder of the Cult of the Damned and one of the principal agents of the Lich King responsible for the spreading of the plague of undeath across Lordaeron. Originally a human mage of the Kirin Tor, Kel'Thuzad was swayed under the influence of the Lich King. Now wielding the powers of frost and decay as a Lich, Kel'Thuzad's loyalty to the Lich King transcends even undeath.

Concept Summary: An offensive secondary support, Kel'thuzad brings damage mitigation and CC utility to his team in his base kit. The player may build him to be an off-assassin, improve his secondary support role and even being a lane clearer. The disadvantage however is that Kel'thuzad struggles being a main support as he has little to no form of healing to offer and this can often lead to disaster in prolonged team fights without another support in the team. However he excels in supporting teammates with their own form of sustain like Arthas and Stitches with his powerful slows and damage mitigation.

Kel'Thuzad cannot be interrupted when channeling abilities.
Basic attacks slow enemy attack and movement speed by 10% for 2 seconds.

Frost Breath
Ability Key: D
Cooldown: 30 seconds

(Replaces Frozen Heart Icon when Frost Breath talent is chosen)

Channel a cone of frost that deals 171 (+4%/level) damage per second for 3 seconds that slows enemies hit by 25% for 2 seconds. The direction of the cone changes with your cursor position.

After a 1 second delay, blasts an enemy with a wave of damaging frost that deals 100 (+4%/level) damage to the target and 150 (+4%/level) damage to nearby enemies. Damaged enemies have their movement and attack speed slowed by 20% for 4 seconds.

Frost Armor
Ability Key: W
Mana Cost: 50
Cooldown: 6 seconds

Creates a shield of frost on a target ally or building reducing the damage they take by 15% for 30 seconds. Enemies that attack the shielded target have their movement and attack speed slowed by 20% for 4 seconds.

Outbreak
Ability Key: E
Mana Cost: 65
Cooldown: 15 seconds

Infects a target with a virulent plague that lasts for 30 seconds. If cast on an ally it is healed by 1% of its maximum health per second and reduces the damage it takes by 10%. If cast on an enemy they take damage for 1% of their maximum health per second. If plagued targets die they leave behind a plague cloud that spreads the plague to units in a medium area for 10 seconds. Cannot be used on units already infected by the plague.

Cooldown: 30 seconds/charge

Sacrifices an allied minion to restore 100 (+4%/level) mana. Gains up to 2 charges.

Cult of the Damned
Cooldown: 60 seconds

Summons an invisible shade that you can control to move to a target location and provides vision and reveals invisible enemies to Kel'Thuzad but not his allies*. The vision range of the shade is decreased by 50% while moving and increased by 50% while stationary for 5 seconds. Lasts until killed.

The shade has 100 (+4%/level) health.

*This means Kel'Thuzad must remove their cloaking by damaging them or forcing them to attack.

Heroic Abilities

Cooldown: 110 seconds

(Channeling)

Damages enemies in a large area by 8% of their maximum health per second for 10 seconds. Enemies that take 3 instances of damage from the ability will suffer from shadow damage causing them to lose 1% of their maximum health per second for 20 seconds. If the enemy is already suffering from shadow damage, the duration is continually refreshed while inside the area of effect.

Upgrade: Rebirth and Renewal
Allies are healed for 4.5% of their max health per second while inside the area of effect.

Freezing Chains
Ability Key: R
Mana Cost: 100
Cooldown: 110 seconds

(Channeling)

Binds up to 3 nearby enemy heroes to Kel'Thuzad rooting them in place for 1 second and then slowing them by 80% decaying over 8 seconds.

Upgrade: Chains of Kel'Thuzad
Chains an additional target and chained heroes take damage and heal Kel'Thuzad equal to 150 (+4%/level) per second.

Special Mount

Gain 20% movement speed and be able to pass through non-heroic units.

Talents

Tier 1

Freezing Nova (Quest) - Damage heroes with Frost Nova's area damage. (does not count the primary target)
Reward: Enemies damaged by Frost Nova are rooted for 1 second.

Permafrost (W) - Frost armor grants a stack of block after expiring that reduces basic attack damage by 50%. Can have up to 2 stacks on the same target.

Zombification (E) - Minions that die while plagued are reanimated as zombies that have 50% of the minion's health and damage, the zombies continue to push a lane as if they were regular minions.

Tier 2

Glacial Lance (Q) - Frost Nova's primary target is tossed into the air for 0.75 seconds and takes 50% more damage from the ability.

Sap Vitality (W) - Allies that take damage while shielded are healed by 75 (+4%/level) damage. This effect has a 1.5 second cooldown.

Glaciate (Q) - Frost Nova can now be cast on a target location and deals the area damage in a 15% larger area and with 30% more damage but disables casting on individual targets.

Tier 3

Dark Ritual (Active) - Sacrifices a lane minion to restore 100 (+4%/level) Mana. Stores up to 2 charges.

Ice Crown (W) - Shielded units also apply the slow effects to nearby enemies.

Cripple (E) - Plagued enemies deal 25% less damage for 5 seconds.

Tier 5

Trail of Frost (Z) - You leave behind an icy trail that slows enemies that move on it by 20% for 3 seconds. The trail lasts 3 seconds.

Icy Veil (W) - Frost Armor grants a spell shield upon expiry that reduces ability damage taken by 30% for 3 seconds.

Cult of the Damned (Active) - Summon an invisible shade that you can command to provide vision in a designated area and reveals invisible units to you.

Tier 6

The Scourge (E) - Deals 0.5% additional health damage or healing per second for every 15% health missing from the plagued target upon casting. Stacks up to 3% health lost/restored per second.

Majordomo (W) - When taking damage below 50% health, you automatically cast Frost Armor upon yourself for free and increases frost armor cast range by 25%.

Arc Lich (Trait) - Allows casting of abilities while Channeling.

Lich's Phylactery (Trait) - Drops a Phylactery upon death that can be picked up by an allied or enemy hero by channeling on it for 3 seconds. If picked up by an ally, your death timer is reduced by 20% and you will revive at your ally's location, if your ally dies you will revive at the hall of storms instead. If picked up by an enemy the phylactery is destroyed and increases your death timer by 10%.

Frost Breath (Trait) - Activate your trait to channel a cone of frost that deals 171 (+4%/level) damage per second for 3 seconds that slows enemies hit by 25% for 2 seconds. The direction of the cone changes with your cursor position.

All in all a nice and refreshing build of Kelthuzad i wouldn't have thought about, but which works in its own ways and would benefit the hero rooster of Hots. The only Problem i see is in the Damage dealt by Outbreak. Sure on its own it would be watched and nerfed if nesscesary but with the level 17 Talent the Scourge it becomes way too overpowered. With out Healing anything days in twelve seconds from a basic ability. You probaly should think about changing it so it dosnt become this much of an Death Sentence

Agreed. I think I'll add a cap for the healing and damage. The talent was meant to make the ability as a finisher to low health enemies or to help a low health ally get back into a fight quicker.
