Khalim

Que-Hegan

Khalim has played quite an important role in Diablo II in a indirect way. He was the leader of the Zakarum and the only one that resisted the corruption caused by Mephisto, that eventually caused the High Council to turn twisted and evil. His will is needed to get to Mephisto eventually by destroying the Compelling Orb in order to enter the Durance of Hate and face Mephisto. He never physically appeared in the game but he still seems to be a quite a powerful entity, if he is able to resist the corruption of the Lord of Hatred.

So I thought about making a game concept for him.
Since he is the Leader of the Zakarum I oriented some of his abilities to be similar of that of a Diablo II Paladin.

His game model should be a mix between the Diablo II Paladin and the Zakarum Priest of Diablo II. He should definitely have his three-tailed flaif as a weapon, but a shield is not required.

His Role would be Melee Support working part time as a tank.

His should have High to very high Health and health gain

Also moderate attack damage with moderate attack and attack gain cooldown would be adequate.

He is very poor at waveclearing but exceptional at healing and assisting teammates and melee brawl.

I estimate the difficulty of this character to be Hard to Very Hard.

Combat Trait

Khalim's Will
On each autoattack Khalim creates a small transparent white cloud.
The Cloud lasts for three seconds.
Enemies within the Cloud deal 10 % less damage and allies within the cloud are 20 % less affected by crowd control effects.

Primary Abilities

Holy Bolt
Fast moving Skillshot ability with high range and fast speed.
Combusts on the first enemy or ally hit. If an enemy is hit it is slowed by 20 % for 3 seconds and dealt medium damage. If an ally is hit it is sped up by 20 % for 3 seconds and healed for a medium amount.

Short Cooldown and medium Mana Cost.

Retribution
If activated the ability creates a small bright sphere around Khalim.
The first skillshot, targeted spell or summoned object or creature targeting Khalim or touching the sphere will be absorbed/nullified.

Khalim gains a shield equal to the Mana Cost of the absorbed spell.

Last until triggered or for 5 seconds.

Moderate Cooldown and Mana Cost.

Drain Essence
Khalim targets a nearby hostile hero and starts to channel for up to three seconds.
Each half a second a medium amount of health is subtracted from this enemy and the amount is stored into an invisible storage.

After channeling ends this ability is replaced by the ability Infuse Essence for three seconds.

If three seconds pass without Khalim using Infuse Essence, it is replaced by Drain Essence again and Khalim is healed by 50% of the amount in the invisible storage.

If Khalim moves during the channel, or the target moves out of range the channel is aborted, but the amount drained up until then is still stored.

Low Range, medium abortion range, medium Cooldown, high Mana Cost.

Secondary Abilities

Infuse Essence
Channel on target allied hero. Target hero is healed by 100 % of the amount stored by Drain Essence over 1 second. Moving cancels the channel and cleanses any remaining amount in the storage. Ability can be used on Khalim to heal him by 50 % of the amount insantly. This ability is replaced by Drain Essence after the channeling ends.

Short Range, No Mana Cost or Cooldown.

Heroic Abilities

Fist of the Heavens
Highlights target small area for 1.5 seconds. After 1.5 second the area is struck by lightning and any hostile targets within the area are stunned for 1.5 second and take massive damage. All target heroes (Allies and Enemies) in a large Radius around the affected area and not affected by the initial blast are affected by homing versions of Holy Bolt with 50% effectivity, either taking damage or healing them, starting from the impact location.

Medium Range, high Mana Cost and high Cooldown.

Hieromancy
Khalim strikes his Flail down at his current position. Clouds of Khalim's Will are spawned at a medium location around the flail. Khalim spawn one spectral hydra head on each of his shoulders, a dark one on his right and a light one on his left shoulder. Khalim gains 4 additional attack range and a bright projectile, also each time he attacks he spawns two additional projectile attacks a light sphere and a dark sphere. The light projectiles targets allies and heals them for 100 % of Khalim's attack damage each time he attacks. If there is no viable target in range Khalim heals himself for 50% of his autoattack damage instead. The dark projectile targets enemies and deals 150 % of his attack damage as splash damage in a small radius. The additonal projectiles are spawned with each autoattack and prioritize heroes and low Health targets within Khalim's extended attack range. The same hostile target can be affected by his autoattack and the offensive projectile at once. Khalim's Trait is only triggered by his main autoattack.

The affect lasts for 10 seconds. After the 10 seconds are over Khalim's Flail returns to it's owner at high speed and deals moderate damage to any targets hit by it. The Duration of this ability is extended until the flail returns. The ability can be activated in order to return the flail prematurely

High Mana cost and Cooldown.

Lvl 1 Talents

Regeneration Master: Same as usual.

Spreading Will: Clouds of Khalim's Will are also spawned upon taking damage.

Drain Mind: Khalim also heals 10 % Mana eual to the amount stored by Drain Essence. Half the mana if used on himself.

Divine Recovery: If Holy Bolt is missed, restore 75 % of its Mana cost and instantly refresh its cooldown.

LVL 4 Talents

Radiating Light: Holy Bolt ignores unit collision for mercenary and minion units and deals 100 % of its damage to any enemy minion or mercenary when passing them. Allies are healed for 20 % the same way.

Radiant Will: Increases the duration of Khalim's Will by 1 second and the cloud ist 50% larger.

Blinding Light: Each second Retribution is active Khalim gain one charge of block (block 50 % damage of an autoattack). Charges are stored permanently and deplete by being attacked with an autoattack. Khalim can store up to 5 charges at any given time.

Drain Hope: Targets affected by Drain Essence are slowed by 25 % during the channel.

LVL 7 Talents

Willpower: Khalim regenerates 1% of his Health while each second while inside of a cloud of Khalim's Will.

Not in Vain: If Retribution is not triggered within its 5 seconds duration. Its cooldown is reduced by 60 % and the Mana is restored instantly.

Enforced Justice: Drain Essence lasts for another second and allies are healed for 50 % more health

Intimidating Presence: Enemies within a cloud of Khalim's Will are slowed for 15 %.

LVL 13 Talents

Affectionate Zealot: Khalim can move and attack while using Drain Essence without breaking its channel.

Chain Bolt: If Holy Bolt hits a target it send out another Bolt to the closest nearby target as a skillshot, preferring heroes. The second Bolt can hit Khalim and has 100 % effectivity.

Encouraging Leader: Any allied Hero, including Khalim has 10 % increased attack and movement speed while within a cloud of Khalim's Will.

Radiance: While Retribution is it deals a small amount of damage each second to nearby enemies. The damage is multiplied by the duration, so each consecutive second deals more damage.

LVL 16 Talents

Resilience: Khalim is unstoppable and resistant (25 % less damage) while in a cloud of Khalim's Will.

By the Power of Will: Holy Bolt deals 150 % increased damage/healing if it hits a targets within a cloud of Khalim's Will.

Shared Effort: If Khalim uses Infuse Essence on an allied hero he is healed by 50% of that amount. If he uses it on himself he is healed by 100 % instead of 50 %.

Magebane: The cooldown of Retribution is decreased by 4 seconds. If a spell triggers the ability Khalims next strike does Bonus damage equal to 400% of the consumed spells Mana Cost.

LVL 20 Talents

Smash of the Heavens: Increases the damage of Fist of the Heavens by 60 %. Any targetable hero not hit by the initial strike is homed by a Holy Bolt regardless of its position, regardless of distance. Bolt effectivity is increased to 60 %.

Epiphany: Khalim's Flail transforms into a hydra with the same attack properties of Khalim during Hieromancy, last for 10 seconds or until Hieromancy is cancelled manually.

Warrior of Light: Each third strike spawns a Holy Bolt targeted at the closest target to Khalim. The Holy Bolt has all talent abilities, but the effictiviy is reduced to 33 %.

Storm Shield: As usual.
