Canny Mutalisk

Background: An enhanced strain of mutalisk created by the overmind, the kukulza were tasked to watch over cerebrates within their hive clusters and eliminate enemy infiltrators. After the overmind's death and the Kerrigan's replacement of the cerebrates with broodmothers, these mutalisk strains were never replenished. Now the last of her kind, Kukulza has become experienced and battle hardened and can evolve herself to adapt to any situation.

Design Philosophy: Kukulza is a ranged specialist that at her base is suited to clearing enemy waves with her glaive attacks and making hit and run attacks on heroes. She is able to fly over terrain which aids more to her hit and run style, however the tradeoff is that she cannot be hidden in cover or obscured from sight behind obstacles, her low health also means she cannot stay in prolonged engagements. Her true power comes at level 10 where she can become an entirely new hero down to her abilities and talents to effectively counter the enemy composition or supplement her team's deficiencies.

Basic attacks bounce to 2 nearby enemies. Each bounce deals 30% less damage.

Each basic attack increases attack speed by 10% for up to 30% increased attack speed lasts 2 seconds.

Corrosive Acid
Basic attacks apply acid to the target and nearby enemies that reduces armor by 5 and attack speed by 10% for 5 seconds. Stacks up to 3 times.

Fire an explosive glaive at a target enemy dealing 190 (+4%/level) physical damage.

Ability Key: W
Mana Cost: 60
Cooldown: 9 seconds

Fires a sonic wave at a target direction dealing 60 (+4%/level) damage to enemies in a cone and reduces their physical armor by 50 for 3 seconds.

Cooldown: 18 seconds

Gains 50 armor for 4 seconds when moving.

Explosive Spore

Cooldown: 10 seconds

Fires a spore in a target direction that attaches to the first enemy it hits and after 2 seconds, explodes for 200 (+4%/level) damage to the target and nearby enemies.

Summons a swarm of spores that seek out nearby enemies and deals 140 (+4%/level) damage and slowing them by 60% decaying for 2 seconds upon impact.

Gain 60% increased movement speed for 4 seconds but disables basic attacks and abilities.

Fires a fungal blob at a target direction that roots the first enemy it hits for 2.5 seconds.

Gains 2 charges of spined armor that reduce the damage taken from the next attack by 35%. Each time a charge is consumed, spines are fired at nearby enemies that deal 88 (+4%/level) damage. Charges last 6 seconds.

Ability Key: E
Mana Cost: 50
Cooldown: 10 seconds

Charges at a target direction dealing 125 (+4%/level) damage to all enemies in it's path. If the Devourer collides with an enemy hero, they are devoured, immobilizing both of them for 2 seconds. The Devourer may reactivate the ability during this time to spit out the devoured hero in a target direction. If the thrown hero hits unpathable terrain they take 5% of their health in damage.

Heroic Abilities

Guardian Aspect
Gain 25% increased maximum health, 220% increased basic attack damage and increases attack range to 10 but move 20% slower and attack 50% slower. The Guardian gains access to new abilities and talents.

Upgrade: Giga Spore

Ability Key: R
Energy Cost: 100
Cooldown: 100 seconds

After a 1 second delay, fires a massive acid spore in a target direction that instantly kills minions and deals 570 (+4%/level) damage to mercenaries, structures and enemy heroes. When the spore first collides with a hero it immediately explodes and deals damage to all enemies in an area.

Devourer Aspect
Gain 210% increased maximum health, 15 armor and 220% increased basic attack damage but move 10% slower and attack 50% slower. The Devourer gains access to new abilities and talents.

Upgrade: Acid Downpour

Ability Key: R
Energy Cost: 100
Cooldown: 100 seconds

After a 1 second delay, fires a large ball of acid into the air that causes a rain of acid in a large area. Enemies in the area take 110 (+4%/level) damage and are applied with a stack of corrosive acid every second for 5 seconds. Heroes that die in the area reduce the cooldown by 15 seconds.

Reconstitution
Cooldown: 150 seconds

Passive: Regenerates 2% health per second while not attacking or taking damage for 3 seconds.

On death, Kukulza enters a cocoon for 3 seconds that if it survives will restore all health, energy and basic ability cooldowns of Kukulza. Upon re-emerging, Kukulza deals 280 (+4%/level) damage to all nearby enemies. If the cocoon takes 10 basic attacks before it finishes it is destroyed and Kukulza is not reborn.

Upgrade: Noisy Rebirth

Upon emerging Kukulza, Kukulza hits all nearby enemies with piercing screech in addition to dealing damage.

Special Mount

Flyer
Kukulza always moves at 20% increased speed and can move over terrain and obstacles but cannot be hidden in cover or break line of sight behind obstacles.

Mutalisk Talents

Level 1

Adrenaline Rush (B) - Gain 100% movement speed for 10 seconds after using hearthstone.

Acrobatics (Z) - Activate Flyer to dash a short distance forward. 30 second cooldown.

Gust (Z) - After being stationary for 2 seconds, create a gust of wind when moving knocking back enemies.

Level 4

Leaching Glaive (Trait) - Gain 15% life steal to your basic attacks including bounces.

Wurm Mitosis (Q) - Sundering glaive now activates Glaive Wurm's effect allowing it to bounce to multiple enemies.

Sonic Boom (W) - Piercing screech now knocks back enemies near Kukulza.

Level 7

Molt (E) - Reduces the armor duration to 2 seconds but gains 60% movement speed for 2 seconds

Shed Shell (E) - On activation leaves behind an immobile copy that taunts nearby enemies for 0.5 seconds. Has 50% of Kukulza's maximum health.

Metallic Screech (W) - Now reduces enemy spell damage by 35%

Level 10 (See Heroic Abilities)

Level 13

Vicious Glaive (Quest): Hit enemy heroes with Glaive Wurm bounces 30 times.
Reward: Glaive Wurm bounces to 5 enemies and decreases the damage reduction per bounce to 15%

Boomburst (Quest): Hit enemy heroes with Piercing Screech 15 times without dying.
Reward: Piercing Screech now stuns nearby enemies for 1 second and enemies farther away are slowed by 30% for 3 seconds.

Adapt Camouflage (Quest): Take spell damage 10 times without dying while Shifting Carapace is active.
Reward: Shifting Carapace grants stealth for 2.5 seconds.

Level 16

Acid Blood (Passive): Taking damage leaves behind a pool of acid on the ground for 3 seconds. Enemies that step on the pool take 2% of their maximum health as damage. If Kukulza falls below 50% health or dies it applies the acid to all nearby enemies. If enemy heroes die while affected by the acid, Kukulza's death timer is reduced by 10 seconds.

Ravenous Wurms (Q): Sundering Glaive stores up to 2 charges and hero takedowns restore a charge.

Hyper Screech (W): Increases damage by 100% and deals an additional 3% of an enemy's Hero's maximum health in damage.

Level 20

Noisy Rebirth (See Heroic Abilities)

Tailwind (Z): Leaves a trail of wind that increases allied hero's movement speed by 20% for 2 seconds after they leave the trail.

Sky Attack (Passive): Kukulza can now attack while moving.

Guardian Talents

Level 1

Bile Sacs (Trait): Collecting a regeneration globe grants an Acid Bile stack increasing health regeneration by 2 up to 10 stacks. Activate your trait (toggle) to cause your basic attacks to deal 100% increased damage and consume a stack with each attack.

Pneumatize (Z): When not attacking for 3 seconds, gain 10% increased movement speed. Taking damage or attacking cancels this ability.

Frenzied (E): Become unstoppable for 1 second upon activation.

Level 4

Spore Mine (Q): If it has not hit an enemy at the end of it's range the spore becomes a stationary mine that explodes when an enemy steps on them. Lasts 60 seconds.

Wide Guard (Passive): Allies under or next to the Guardian gain 20 armor.

Condensed Bile (W): Bile Swarm knocks back enemies on impact.

Level 7

Maturing Acid (Passive): Increases damage dealt to distant enemies (5 range or more) by 15% but reduces damage to nearby enemies by 10%.

Stone Crusher Spores (Q): Increases damage dealt by basic attacks and explosive spore to non-heroic targets by 20%

Adhesive Spore (Q): While on a target, explosive spore slows the target by 20%.

Level 10 (See Heroic Abilities)

Level 13

Blinding Bile (W): Bile swarm blinds enemies for 2 seconds.

Broodlord (W) Bile swarm also spawns a broodling when hitting an enemy that attacks them for 5 seconds.

Scourge Swarm (W): Spawns a swarm of scourge that deals 60% splash damage to enemies near the target.

Level 16

Spore Sacs (Passive): After not attacking for 8 seconds, The guardian's next attack hits twice.

Rapid Spin (W): The guardian spins when activating, knocking back nearby enemy units and slowing their attack speed by 30% for 3 seconds.

Volatile Gas (E): The guardian dashes forward in the direction it is facing when activating the ability.

Level 20

Mega Spore (See Heroic Abilities)

Prolonged Dispersal (Passive): Increases basic attack range by 2 and attack speed by 10%.

Berserk Gene (Trait): Primordial Fury also increases movement speed by 8% per stack.

Devourer Talents

Level 1

Fungal Calibration (Quest): Root 20 enemy heroes with Fungal Snare
Rewards: After rooting 10 heroes, cooldown is reduced by 2 seconds
After rooting 20 heroes, Root duration is increased by 0.5 seconds

Calcify (Quest): Block 30 hero attacks with spined armor
Reward: Gain an additional 10 armor

Guzzle Lord (E): Restore 15% of maximum health when hitting an enemy hero with Guzzle.

Level 4

Fungal Armor (Q): While near a rooted target, The devourer takes 65% less damage from the rooted target.

Violent Molt (W): Fire spines at nearby enemies upon activation that deal 88 (+4%/level) damage.

Pressurized Release (E): The guzzled hero is fired 100% faster and pushes aside enemies it collides with.

Level 7

Dissolve Weakness (Trait): Non-heroic enemy units affected by corrosive acid that have their health at 25% or below of their maximum health are immediately destroyed.

Acidic Bleeding (Trait): Enemies that attack the devourer are immediately affected by Corrosive Acid. This acid does not stack with consecutive attacks but refresh the duration of all acid stacks on a target.

Indiscriminate (E): Can now target allied heroes. Allied heroes are instead put in stasis for the duration of the ability.

Level 10 (See Heroic Abilities)

Level 13

Cementing Microbes (Q): Hitting a slowed enemy hero instead stuns them for 1.5 seconds.

Vile Acid (Q): Hitting an enemy affected by Corrosive acid also slows them by 20% per stack for 3 seconds.

Aerial Loop (Z): Activate to do an aerial loop becoming untargetable* for 1 second. 30 second cooldown.

*cannot be hit by single target attacks or spells but can still be hit by AoE spells.

Level 16

Defiler Genome (Trait): All abilities now apply corrosive acid to enemies.

Leeching Acid (Trait): Restores 1% of the devourer's maximum health per second for each enemy affected by corrosive acid.

Lingering Carapace (W): Spined armor stacks become block stacks when expiring, gaining 50 physical armor on the next attack. Can hold up to 2 charges.

Level 20

Acid Downpour (See Heroic Abilities)

Corrosive Spray (Passive): Basic attacks now deal 75% splash damage and apply corrosive acid.

Gravity Bladder (Z): Increases movement speed by 10% and can now attack targets affected with corrosive acid while moving.
