Witch of the Sea

A ranged mage assassin with some aa potential as well. The idea for this actually came from Rexxar - I noticed he is among the least popular heroes, and wanted to create a hero that worked well with a Rexxar. And what does Rexxar do best? Stuns! Lots of them. Hence the trait of this hero is to react whenever a nearby enemy is stunned. The name "Blood in the Water" seemed like a good name for it, so originally I wanted to make some kind of shark-like hero, but I don't think there's anything like that in Blizzard lore. The only sea-creatures I could think of were the Naga, in fact, so I went with Lady Vashj.

As in all of my hero ideas, the numbers are arbitrary - only given to create a sense of scale. Concepts are immune to notions of imbalance, as numbers can always be tweaked. The skills themselves are pretty bland (they sort-of have to be). Most of the work I do when inventing a hero is in the talents - I always strive for 'absolute synergy': i.e. any possible random selection of talents is still going to be powerful. Of course, that can't always happen, but I still try.

Combat Trait

Blood in the Water
Stunned enemy heroes near Lady Vashj grant her 10% increased movement speed and basic attack range for 3 seconds. Stacks up to 3 times and additional stacks refresh the duration.

Primary Abilities

Frost Arrow
Fires a chilled arrow in a straight line which does damage and slows all enemies hit for 3 seconds. Slow amount is reduced the further the arrow travels.

Tornado
Target a small area. Enemies in the center are stunned for 0.5 seconds and enemies on the perimeter are rotated clockwise for 0.5 second (90 degrees). 10 second cooldown. Trait can be toggled to change rotation direction.

Forked Lightning
Strike a target enemy with lightning. If the enemy is stunned when hit, extends the stun by 0.25 seconds and the lightning forks to all nearby enemies.

Heroic Abilities

Explosive Trident
Throw a low-health trident to a target area that can be damaged by allies or healed by enemies. When destroyed, deals heavy damage and stuns enemies in a large area for 1 second. Area rapidly increases each second it remains intact. If it survives for 5 seconds it is destroyed without damaging or stunning enemies.

Summon Prawns
Summon two prawns to focus on a target. Each prawn has a different use. One has a slow attack and movement speed but stuns with each attack. One has a fast attack speed and applies a 1% slow with each attack that stacks up to ten times.

Level 1 Talents

  • In Cold Blood - Stacks of Blood in the Water also increase Cold Arrow cooldown regeneration rate by 10%.
  • Heightened Senses - Stacks of Blood in the Water also increase ability range by 10%
  • Internal Bleeding - Blood in the Water is also gained when nearby enemies are rooted
  • Grounding Rod - Quest! Every enemy hero hit by the forks of forked lightning causes Forked Lightning to do extra damage equal to 0.1% of the enemy's maximum health. Reward: After 30 stacks also increase the allowable radius of the forks by 100%.

Level 4 Talents

  • Eye of the Storm - Quest! Stunning enemies with Tornado reduces the rotating inner radius by 0.5%, causing some enemies to be stunned and rotated. Reward: After 30 stacks increase the rotation duration to 1 second (180 degree rotation)
  • Twisted - Quest! If tornado rotates someone onto an unpathable location, they are stunned for 0.05 seconds. Reward: After 30 stacks tornado rotates up to 360 degrees if its path is clipped by an unpathable location.
  • Bottomless Thirst - Quest! Basic attacks against enemies while at full Blood in the Water stacks permanently increase the duration of Blood in the Water by 0.1 seconds. Reward: after 30 stacks increase maximum stacks by 1.
  • Superconduction - Casting Forked Lightning on an enemy affected by Frost Arrow refunds 60% of the mana cost.

Level 7 Talents

  • Lightning Reflexes - if forked lightning forks to enemies who are also stunned, the cooldown is instantly reset, but the mana cost is increased by 2% of your max mana for 4 seconds. Mana cost increase stacks up to five times.
  • Windblown - When frost arrow is fired into an area affected by Tornado, it splits into 3 arrows with increased projectile speed, each doing 40% damage.
  • Heightened sense - Increases the maximum distance at which stunned enemies grant stacks of Blood in the Water by 100% and reveals enemies who trigger Blood in the Water for 4 seconds.

Level 13 Talents

  • Mesocyclone - When you cast Tornado another untalented version is cast centered on you.
  • Not My Blood - While stunned, rooted, or slowed, damage inflicted to Lady Vashj is instead delivered over 10 seconds.
  • Against the Wind - Allies in a Tornado area of effect take 15% less damage from ranged basic attacks.

Level 16 Talents

  • Hailstorm (Active) - Your basic attacks pierce and shoot frost arrows for 4 seconds. 30 second cooldown.
  • Freezing Point - Hitting any enemy with frost arrow that is already slowed roots them in place and causes them to take 25% damage for the duration of the root. Root duration increases with distance the frost arrow travels.
  • Static Overload - Forked Lightning forks a second time and does up to 100% increased damage when enemies are closer together.

Level 20 Talents

  • Trident of Azshara - Casting forked lighting on a trident forks to all enemies in its area of effect and incurs only 20% of the cooldown. The trident also slows enemies in the area by 90% for 1 second after impact.
  • Prawn Stars - Summon a third prawn that heals the other two and prawns last until killed or resummoned.
  • Supercell - Tornado can be cast again for free within 2 seconds of casting. Overlapping Tornados refresh their duration and do 200% increased damage to structures.
  • Lightning Shield - When Forked Lightning is not in cooldown an untalented version strikes a nearby enemy every 5 seconds for free.
