Most would ask; what is a non-military scientist doing in an organization such as Overwatch? Simple. During its golden years, they established Eco-Points around the world to monitor the increasingly erratic climate phenomena at the different parts of the world. Among those called upon for this endeavor was Mei-Ling Zhou, a Chinese climatologist acclaimed all over the world for her work in weather manipulation, in the process, saving Asian wildlife. She then went on to be assigned to Eco-Point Antarctica to monitor the icy situation in relation to the erratic weather phenomena, along with an equally talented scientific team. Disaster struck the team in the form of a vicious polar storm, cutting the team off from the rest of the world. As they cannot call for supplies, they quickly dwindled, forcing Mei and her colleagues to undergo CryoStasis in a desperate attempt to survive long enough for extraction.
But alas, it never came. Coupled with the Zurich debacle, was the demise of any chance of rescue from Overwatch, as days later, they were ordered to stop all operations. It wasn't until years later that the team's cryo pods were discovered, and Mei emerged from it. But alas, the same cannot be said for her colleagues. She then proceeds to carry on her work by herself, despite the fact Overwatch was long gone. She then begins her world tour as part of her climatology study, devising equipment along the way. Now in the Nexus, with her drone, Snowball, and her Endothermic Blaster, she demonstrates, that the world, is indeed worth fighting for.
