Mephistroth

Lord of the Nathrezim

With Tichondrius destroyed at the hands of Illidain Stormrage and Anetheron slain during the Battle of Mount Hyall, the mantle of leadership over the Nathrezim has fallen upon the shoulders of Mephistroth. From within the Twisting Nether he plots and schemes for the day his legions will enact terrible revenge upon those who stand in their way.  

Mephistroth is a utility and support focused Hero who lacks any form of direct healing, relying instead upon buffs and debuffs to swing the tide of battle. He can be built to fill a single-support role or a high-damage utility role through his talents.

Mephistroth's health pool is fairly small, which is offset by his Netherguard shields. His basic attacks are medium ranged (similar to Tychus) and occur at a very slow rate. The Dreadlord's auto attacks are relatively powerful, to compensate for this low rate of fire. Conceptually, Mephistroth is best understood as a hero that requires a high level of skill in his positioning, as many of his abilities require him to be close to his allies in order for them to take full effect. Knowing when to expose oneself in order to save a teammate is an essential part of playing Mephistroth successfully. Depending on how he is built, making sure never to be caught alone is of the utmost importance. 

Combat Trait

Netherguard
Mephistroth passively gains a shield which is 30% of his maximum health. This shield only replenishes once it has been completely depleted and Mephistroth has not taken any damage for 5 seconds. 

ACTIVE : Netherguard can be activated to transfer the remaining shield to a targeted ally hero, minion, or mercenary. The target also gains Resistant for 2 seconds. This activated trait has a 5 second cooldown and prevents Mephistroth's shields from replenishing for the duration of this cooldown. 20% of this shield will be replenished every second when it returns. 

An ally can have up to 2 stacked shields from spells and effects of Mephistroth. Shields bestowed upon allies by Mephistroth last for 15 seconds.  

Primary Abilities

Reap (Sow)
Steal 55 (+15 per level) life from the target and convert this into shields on Mephistroth for a value of 1.5x as much. This shield lasts 5 seconds.

Cooldown is only triggered once Sow has been used or the shield has disappeared.

Pact of Malice
Targeted ally reflects 30% of all incoming damage back to the target for 5 seconds. 

Cooldown : 10 seconds

Vampiric Aura
A small area around Mephistroth is filled with Vampiric magic, infusing nearby ally heroes, minions, and mercenaries such that 25% of their damage is returned as healing. Lasts 5 seconds.

Cooldown : 15 seconds

Secondary Abilities

Sow (Reap)
Transfer all Reaped shields from Mephistroth to the targeted ally hero. 

Cooldown : 8 seconds

Heroic Abilities

Void Hymn
After a short casting time, Mephistroth fires a large orb projectile that moves slowly in a straight line, passing through ally and enemy heroes as well as impassable terrain. 

Any enemy hero the orb touches will become Vulnerable for 3 seconds and be drained of 10% of their remaining health. Any ally that is touched by the orb will become Resistant for 3 seconds and have 10% of their remaining health drained. 

Reactivating Voidwalk will cause Mephistroth to take the position of the orb and release the drained life force in a small area, converting this into shields divided among all allies within the area of effect. All shields present on Mephistroth are removed upon activation and added to the pool divided among allies. Mephistroth does not receive any shields. 

Cooldown : 90 seconds

Nether Infusion
Mephistroth becomes infused with the energies of the Twisting Nether, increasing his attack speed by 50% and doubling the shield provided by Netherguard. Targeting a new enemy within 3x Mephistroth's normal attack range will blink the hero into range to begin attacking.

All Mephistroth's cooldowns are increased by 2 seconds. 

Talents [Level 1]

Lasting Pacts
Increases the duration of Pact of Malice by 1 second. 

Void Conjurer
For each Regen Globe Mephistroth collects when Netherguard is active, 3x as much mana is restored.

Pitiless Harvest
Reap applies a small heal over time to Mephistroth in addition to the shield.

Dreadlord's Gaze
Increases auto attack damage against minions and mercenaries by 100%. 

Talents [Level 4]

Focused Magics  
Every 3rd basic attack deals 50% additional damage and slows the target by 20% for 2 seconds. 

Sight of the Nathrezim (Cooldown : 20 seconds.)
Reveals the target area for 5 seconds. Removes cloak from invisible heroes. Global range.

Fel Favors
Increases the time Mephistroth's shields are active on ally heroes by 5 seconds.

Seeds of Destruction
Shields Sown onto ally heroes shatter when they expire, dealing small area of effect damage. 

Talents [level 7]

Boundless Aura
Increases the radius of Vampiric Aura by 30%.

Quickening Aura
All allies affected by Vampiric Aura have their movement speed increased by 40% for 3 seconds. 

Auric Terror 
Enemies are dealt a small amount of damage and are pushed back. 

Dark Rites (Cooldown : 30 seconds.)
Consume a friendly minion to restore 100 mana. 

Heroic Talents

Talents [level 13]

Pacts that Bind Us
The first enemy hero that has damage reflected back due to Pact of Malice is rooted for 2 seconds. 

Efficient Harvest
Decreases damage dealt by Reap by 25%, but increases shields generated to 3x health drained. 

Void Guardian
Redirecting Mephistroth's Netherguard shields to an allied hero summons a Void Guardian that blocks 75% of the first source of damage dealt. Increases cooldown of shield regeneration by 3 seconds. 

Dreadlord's Cunning
Killing an enemy minion or mercenary increases Mephistroth's attack speed by 10% for 3 seconds. This effect can stack 3 times. 

Talents [level 16]

Malevolent Decree 
Increases damage reflected by Pact of Malice to 50% and applies the effect to both Mephistroth and the target. 

Nether Focus
When shields from Netherguard are active, Mephistroth's cooldowns are reduced by 30%.

Spellguard
When shields from Netherguard are active, incoming ability damage is reduced by 50% for 3 seconds or until shields are depleted. This effect can only proc once every 30 seconds.

Netherstep (Cooldown : 15 seconds)
Allows Mephistroth to teleport short distances into areas which are not visible to his team. Only useable while Netherguard shields are active. 

TALENTS [level 20]

Reaper's Hymn
Void Hymn becomes a set of three rotating orbs, increasing its radius of effect. Instead of draining 10% of the maximum health of enemy heroes, those who are hit by the Void Hymn have an untalented Reap performed upon them. Shields reaped through this effect are split evenly among allies once Mephistroth has reactivated the ability. 

Archaic Invocation (Cooldown : 50 seconds)
Summon three imps that orbit Mephistroth and maintain an archaic invocation. Each invocation increases the damage dealt by Mephistroth's auto attacks by 15% and Netherguard shields by 10%. These imps have a small health pool and can only be killed by direct damage.

Netherlord
Gives Netherguard 3 charges on a 15 second cooldown, allowing Mephistroph to give his shield twice without losing it himself.
