She is one of the most gifted doctors in the world when it comes to medical technology, and has applied such technology to her own body effects have possibly included slowing/halting her ageing process.

-Cannot heal and damage at the same time
-Requires an ally nearby in order to be useful

Mercy is designed to work exactly how she works in Overwatch (Both before and after her rework). The only major changes made that differs from Overwatch version are:
-Doesn't need to switch weapons to use her abilities. While she uses Caduceus staff, she cannot use basic attacks.
-Due to Auriel already having resurrect, Mercy's resurrect is removed.
-Since there is no air to fly in, Angelic descent has been completely modified.

Combat Trait

Regeneration
After not taking damage for 3 seconds, start regenerating 3% of your maximum health per second and you will receive 25% increased healing from allies. This bonus is lost by taking damage from enemies.

*The health gain bonus stacks with other healing modifiers such as Ana's Biotic grenade.

Primary Abilities

Caduceus Staff
Target an ally to heal them for 160 (+4% per level) health per second. The connection breaks by running out of mana or getting too far from the target. While using Caduceus Staff, you cannot use your basic attacks. Activate Power Switch to change the effect of Caduceus Staff to Damage Amplification.

Mana: 30 per second
Cooldown: 10 seconds

*Switching the effect while still connected to the ally will change the effect.
*You cannot use your basic attacks while connected.
*If used while far from the target, Mercy will be pulled towards the target and ignores terrain during the pull.
*Reactivate the ability to cancel channeling.

Caduceus Staff
Target an ally to increase their Spell Power by 25% and their Attack Speed by 10%. The conncetion breaks by running out of mana or getting too far from the target. While using Caduceus Staff, you cannot use your basic attacks. Activate Power Switch to change the effect of Caduceus Staff to Healing.

Mana: 30 per second
Cooldown: 10 seconds

*Switching the effect while still connected to the ally will change the effect.
*You cannot use your basic attacks while connected.
*If used while far from the target, Mercy will be pulled towards the target and ignores terrain during the pull.

Guardian Angel
Fly towards a nearby allied hero. While flying, Mercy ignores almost all terrain.

Cooldown: 9 seconds

*Can also be used on dead allies.
*While flying, you can still use Caduceus staff.

Switch the effect of Caduceus Staff between Healing and Damage Amplification effects.

Cooldown: 0.5 seconds

*Similar to Fenix's Weapon Modes, Power Switch costs no mana and has a very short cooldown.

Mass Resurrection
Channel for 1.75 seconds to bring all dead allied heroes back to life with 50% restored health. Must target a dead allied hero nearby in order to activate it. While channeling, you will be revealed to enemy heroes and have 25 reduced Armor as long as you are channeling.

Cooldown: 150 seconds

*Similar to Auriel, Mercy also receives a visual effect of dead allied heroes.
*Does not affect Mercy if she's dead. Also cannot be cast during death.

Valkyrie
Gain 35% movement speed and ignore terrain. Abilities cost no mana for the duration. Regeneration cannot be interrupted. Caduceus Staff now chains between allies and its range is increased by 30%. Your Attack speed is increased by 1 and Guardian Angel's flying speed is increased by 20%. Lasts 6 seconds.

Mana: 100
Cooldown: 80 seconds

*Once Valkyrie is over, Caduceus Staff still remains on the target ally. But the chained targets are no longer affected.

Special Mount

Angelic descent
Mercy cannot use mounts. But she passively moves 10% faster than other heroes.
After moving towards the target direction for 4 seconds, Mercy gains 20% additional movement speed as long as she is moving forward. The bonus movement speed is lost once Mercy stops moving or turns the opposite direction.

*Once reached the maximum speed, small visual lights will trail from Mercy's back.

Talents level 1:

Soul Beam (Q):
While above 75% health, Caduceus Staff's healing is increased by 15%.
Improved Biology (Trait):
Regeneration grants 50 Spell Armor. Reducing the next ability damage taken by half.
Vampiric Angel (Q):
Caduceus Staff's damage amplification grants 20% lifesteal to the target allied hero.

Talents level 4:

Super Jump (W):
Reduce the cooldown of Guardian Angel by 4 seconds and reduce its mana cost to 20.
Speedy Recovery (Q):
Caduceus Staff's healing is increased by 20% on heroes with below than 40% health.
Angelic Chill (Passive):
Basic attacks slow enemies hit by 40% for 3 seconds.

Talents level 7:

Radiance: (W):
After reaching the target ally by using Guardian Angel, enemies nearby the target are stunned for 0.5 seconds and Blinded for 3 seconds.
Untouchable (Passive):
Every 10 seconds, the next heroic basic attack that hits you, deals no damage and reduces the attacker's Attack Speed by 50% for 2 seconds.
Hand-improving staff (Q):
Caduceus Staff's damage amplification now also grants 15% Attack damage boost and the Attack speed bonus is increased to 25%.
Switching Haste (E):
Using Power Switch grants 30% movement speed and a shield based on 20% of your maximum health for 0.5 seconds.

Talents level 13:

Caduceus Pulse (Active):
Activate to heal yourself and all nearby allied heroes for 190 health every 2 seconds. lasts 10 seconds and has 50 seconds cooldown.

Right Beside You (W):
Increase Guardian Angel's range by 80% . Guardian Angel can now be used on non-heroic units
Angelic Ascent (Z):
Increase the passive movement speed of Angelic Descent from 10% to 20% and increase the bonus movement speed from 20% to 30%.

Talents level 16:

Emergency Reach (W):
Guardian Angel now has 2 charges. When an allied hero is nearby, Guardian Angel recharges 200% faster
Overwhelming Presence (Trait):
Regeneration now also affects nearby allied heroes and grants 20% movement speed for them. The effect for allies still requires Mercy herself to not take damage.
Always Watching Over You (Q):
Increase the range of Caduceus Staff by 20% and cause it to linger on the target ally for 2 seconds after breaking the link.
Battle Mercy (Passive):
Increase your Attack range by 2, Increase your Attack damage by 50, Using basic attacks heal you and your nearby allies for 100% the damage you deal with basic attacks.

Talents level 20:

Heroes Never Die! (Heroic R):
Mass Resurrection now grants all resurrected allies Invulnerability and 50% healing boost for 3 seconds. Each allied hero resurrected with Mass Resurrection reduces its cooldown by 15 seconds.
Onwards To Victory! (Heroic R):
Valkyrie now has 30 seconds reduced cooldown and 1.5 seconds increased duration. Using Guardian Angel during Valkyrie heals the target ally for 30% of their maximum health and increases their movement speed by 30% for 2 seconds.
Angelic Biology (Trait):
Increase Regeneration's percentage healing by 7% and increase all healing received from allies by 100%.
Advanced Medical Attention (Q):
Caduceus Staff's healing allows the target ally to Absorb the incoming damage for 3 seconds. This effect has a 30 second cooldown.

Counters and matchups:

Bad against:

Ana: Biotic grenade prevents all types of healing for Mercy (including Regeneration) which leaves her in a massive danger.
Qhira: due to her high damage, Mercy always require an ally nearby to take on her.
Imperius: due to Mercy's vulnerability and lack of mobility if there is no nearby ally, Celestial charge can finish her off quickly.

Others:


-heroes with high mobility and/or high damage can easily kill Mercy.
-heroes with that have high disables can interrupt Resurrect since it is a channeling ability.
-heroes that are stronger against alone enemies are very threatening to Mercy.

Good against:

Muradin: Mercy can amplify allies' damage to take on Muradin and his high health may not resist against their damage.
Valla: Valla's low health makes it much harder to take on an enemy affected by Caduceus staff.
Diablo: Apocalypse is predictable enough for Mercy to escape it. Mercy can rapidly heal the ally affected by Overpower.

Others:


-heroes with low mobility are easily ganked by Mercy and her ally.
-heroes with predictable abilities cannot catch Mercy easily.

Works well with:

Lt. Morales: Mercy and Lt. Morales can heal each other with Caduceus staff and Healing beam since they cannot be casted on self.
Auriel: Auriel can Resurrect Mercy if she's dead. Caduceus Staff also helps Auriel to gain more Energy faster.

Others:


-all healers make a great team with Mercy as they can heal each other much more quickly.
-heroes with non-self-casting buffs can team up with Mercy for additional buffs.

Works bad with:

Deathwing: since he cannot be healed by allies at all, Mercy won't make a great team with him.

Others:


-heroes that cannot be healed or buffed by allies at all, won't make a great team with Mercy.

Tips and gameplay:

Playing as Mercy:


Mercy is a great healer who can reach allies quickly to help them from afar. however she is not very good at damage. also none of her abilities (except for Valkyrie) work during 1v1 fights as there are no allies to use them.
Ability strategy:
-Regeneration (Trait): Mercy always receives increased healing from allies after not taking damage for a few seconds. this is actually good for her. since she cannot heal herself with any other abilities of herself.
-Caduceus staff (Q): Similar to Lt. Morales' Healing beam but stronger. this ability has higher range and can either heal or amplify the target ally's damage.
-Guardian Angel (W): This ability allows Mercy to reach her allies quickly. even tho it costs mana but has a short cooldown.
-Power Switch (E): Swtich the effect of Caduceus Staff.
-Mass Resurrection (Heroic 1): An enhanced version of Resurrect which is instant cast and affects all dead allies.
-Valkyrie (Heroic 2): This ability allows Mercy to fly which grants her movement speed and allows her to ignore any unpathable terrain. it also empowers other abilities of Mercy.
-Angelic Descent (Z): Mercy may not be able to use mounts. but moving forward increases her movement speed as long as she is moving.

Playing against Mercy:


Even though Mercy is not good in 1v1 fights, she is still able to make an ally deadly with absolutely no limits.
-Caduceus staff can both heal or amplify allies' damage (but 1 at time). since both effects make the target ally of Mercy a deadly one, try to get rid of Mercy first before taking on her allies.
-Thanks to her Guardian angel, Mercy can reach her allies quickly and assist them much faster. try to keep her ally close to yourself to lure Mercy into your assassinating skills.

i think mass res can be too annoying, and overall she has no aggressive abilities except her aa, which is a bit boring IMO (well like in OW). also CADUCEUS STAFF have the same problem of morales's old healing beam- if you are full of mana no one dies, but you get oom fast and need to constantly hearth. so maybe it should have a limit (cd...).
i have an idea for one thing to change- increase basiic res charge rate when she aa heroes, and reduce res recharge rate from healing(and the related talents). it will make it harder to recharge res, which is a really strong ability on basic.
also a tip for images- use "img width=#" (instead of just img) where # is a number (48-64 are good) in order to set their size. it will look like this:

Both Resurrect and Mass Rez are incredibly overpowered (Auriel). That combined with incredibly potent healing (10 mana for 260 health per sec is ISNANE! compare that to Uthers 80 mana for a 360 heal (and that one also has a cooldown of 12 sec)) AND mobility make Mercy's kit incredibly overloaded and in my opinion probably the stronger than any other hero in HotS.

My fix ideas:
Make both Resurrect and Mas Rez temporary! killing the ally returned with Resurrect after 4 seconds will leave this ability very strong (think of how much damage an assassin can output in 4 seconds), keep its flavor and make it very interesting to play with and against - think of enemies guarding dead assassins spirits so that they cant be resurrected, it also makes dying a lot less boring since you can be returned at any time to burst down nearby enemies (I also disagree with making a non-ultimate ability have a charge, but thats besides the point), maybe also increase its mana cost to something that will make you think hard about using it (80-120 mana), same goes for Guardian Angel.
Mas Rez could resurrect your team for a much longer duration maybe even up to 10 seconds, that will let your team push objectives - giving them another chance to win a teamfight.

Secondly, for the staff - damage boosting by 20% constantly is kinda scary but I guess its not TOO scary, as a fix for her healing being insanely strong I would half its healing and double its mana cost making it 130 hp for 20 mana per sec.

And lastly, the stats themselves - all heroes with mana have a 500 Mana starting mana pool, I see no reason for Mercy to be different, also, her health regen is much higher than other characters (heal regen is set by starting health - look at other heroes as an example), other than that the max health seems good but just a little FYI... she does more DPS than Butcher with 4 attacks of 50 damage per second... thats kinda insane, much higher than any other hero.

This is more than I have ever written on an essay probably, not sure why I did write it but it was fun.



I really do want a Mercy like hero in Heroes of the Storm, a mobile hero who can easily escape danger, I see that you went for a hybrid of damage or healing. But with this you can go as a secondary healer and then in teamfights you wreak havoc in the backline while still ressing anyone who needs it. She possesses a very powerful kit, and in this case, a way to power kit.

Her heal seems quite op, it’s double the healing of an Lt. Morales beam per second and for pretty no cost. (Mana regen 4.4 per sec and cost is 2 mana per sec.)

Causing the Damage boost to grant a flat 120 damage could surely make some heroes like Abathur a powerful auto attack hero. Maybe a % increase instead of flat Attack Damage would be better. (Also imagine Sgt. Hammer, what a nightmare)

Depending on the range of Guardian Angel I am a bit concerned if this is op, decent or overpowered. Especially with a combination of Flight Test and Guardian’s Observation. Because 25 Mana is not much at all. Especially for a 5 second escape/relocate.

Resurrect is almost like the Auriel ress, just available pre 10, it doesn’t sacrifice another ultimate. Although the window where you’re able to interrupt her is larger than with Auriel, but a basic ability with a 80% max hp ress is quite op. She can also quite effectively gain her ress back quickly. 5% per second healing, 20 seconds of healing a damaged ally will grant her a ress.

At level 10, Valkyrie grants Mercy 414 DPS for 7 seconds, meaning that if she faces off in a 1v1 vs an enemy with no cc, she can deal around 2.9k damage in 7 seconds. Compared to Valla if she were to pick. (Maybe reduce her damage potential and increase the Guardian Angel speed.)

Mass Rez is a good idea, but it’s just not really that optimal, it would surely bring up the same problem as she had in Overwatch before the ult was reworked into Valkyrie. Mercy waiting far away to then swoop in an ress all allies with 0 counter play except killing Mercy first. (Lower health% when ressed and a short invulnerability/armor bonus for all allied heroes ressed?)

Onto talents,

Tier 1 (Level 1)

Angelic charge, 5% to 10%. If you heal an ally for 10 seconds, you gain a resurrect charge. Meaning that even in the lvl 1 skirmishes and other early fights, she would be ressing people all the time.

Improved Biology, it seems pretty balanced tbh. Maybe a bit underpowered but idk.

Angel of Leech, it’s quite a cheap quest, 1k isn’t really much when Caduceus Staff buffs allies by a flat 120 damage. meaning that 9 auto attacks on heroes without armor would be enough to finish the quest. From any hero that can auto attack.

Tier 2 (Level 4)

Flight test, after spamming a 5 second cooldown spell 30 times make it have barely no cooldown and cost no mana. This will make her uncatchable.

Speedy Recovery, This works nicely with Angelic Descent, but I don’t know if it’s really nice to have an ally have 20% extra movespeed from lvl 4 as long as you keep your beam on them.

Angelic chill, Mercy’s attack range is quite low and she is a squishy healer if she had to go in to basic attack to apply the slow it would be quite dangerous in case the enemy can lock her down.

Transcendencey, 1k HP over 3 seconds after being revived with already 80% hp is a lot of healing.

Tier 3 (Level 7)

Guardian’s Observation, I’m getting a brightwing feeling, but her Phase Shift has a long cooldown, this can be a free 30% shield of an ally’s max hp every 1.5 seconds on both you and them.

Untouchable, This grants her the possibility to 1v1 any auto attack based hero. Zul’jin, Dead! Valla, Gutted!

Hand-Improving Staff, 1+ attack speed can be a lot on some heroes. Especially if you add 120 dmg on top of that. That alone is 120 dps alone.

Witch staff, being able to reduce an ally’s cooldowns by 5 every 2 seconds or so? is really op. Any mage/healer/any hero would love this. A bit to much. Which would make Mercy’s main focus as a healer to almost disappear a little and cause her to maybe only swap on and off the beam to make their abilities cooldown faster.

Tier 5 (Level 13)

Angelic Pulse, 3k healing to each nearby ally over 10 seconds. (12k in total to all allied heroes) That’s without the 300 health over 3 seconds and without scaling accounted for. 50 seconds cd and practically no mana cost either which would make this op.

If you picked Valkyrie with this, I see 2 possibilities. A level 13 talent being useless during the ult and kinda hurting mercy (2x mana cost) or an ally receiving double healing from her beam because of 2 bounces.

Right beside you, and now it’s time to say gg. Can soak any lane super easily, can roam, can go anywhere on the map where an ally is within seconds. + with Flight test this is insane. Imagine that your team just fought at their core, 10% hp left and they’re all dead on both teams. Time for mercy to fly in at a global range and just destroy the core.

Angelic Step, move for 20 seconds, gain a free ress.

Tier 6 (Level 16)

Super resurrect, okay so now there’s no counterplay to the ress. Because she can’t be stopped. and it’s charge always increased.

Angelic Presence, if this is if you still haven’t taken any dmg then it’s fine, but if they have to not have taken in a while, then it’s kinda worthless.

Always watching over you, heal from far away and also dash to them if an enemy dives you. But if you break the link they still get healed. A bit op.

Battle Angel, I’ts a bird! It’s a plane! No it’s a battle mercy coming in that can 1v1 anyone.

Tier 7 (Level 20)

Onwards to victory!, Now she can’t be stopped either and basic attacks now chain. The 20% movement speed bonus is already in a previous talent as well and movement speed doesn’t stack.

Heroes never die!, well now they certainly never die, 5 seconds of invulnerability and 50 health regen and 200 movespeed for 5 seconds. + you instantly gain a resurrect charge. Now this is the max level of op we can get I believe.

Angelic Biology, this talent just completely takes away the need to pick Improved Biology. It’s pretty much the same effect, just better.

Advanced medical attention, Okay soooo.. invulnerability? Forever for 10 mana per second? Ouch..

Well. you are kinda right. I actually made this concept with a bit rush so I kinda made her OP ;)

but don't worry. this concept is NOT finished. (In fact i revisit my concepts everytime i can) I will make enough adjustments to make her balanced. so don't worry. I'll rebalance her.
