Moam

The Obsidian Destroyer

During the War of the Shifting Sands, three great dragons — Arygos, Merithra of the Dream, and Caelestrasz — sacrificed themselves to aid in the creation of the Scarab Wall.

Though the wall prevented the Qiraji from venturing out, the insect empire refused to remain idle. In preparation for their reemergence in the world, the shadowy master of Ahn'Qiraj commanded Emperor Vek'lor to create a new obsidian statue superior to all other Destroyers. Vek'lor sought his twin brother's aid in the task, and while Vek'nilash used his physical might to craft a grand body of volcanic rock, Vek'lor fortified the shell with powerful magic.

Emperor Vek'lor named the finished construct Moam, and observed as the dark master infused it with life. He was pleased and surprised to find that the improved Obsidian Destroyer was far more versatile than its earlier counterparts. The Twin Emperors intended to use Moam as a colossal weapon, knowing that its strengths would help it survive in the thick of melee as well as magical combat-but they did not expect for the construct's abilities to advance further without their own assistance.

Far more surprising, even to the arcane emperors, was Moam's ability to summon burning elementals crafted of pure mana.

It was only after Vek'lor witnessed this demonstration of Moam's unbridled power that the source of the construct's seemingly limitless energy was revealed - three tortured dragons: Arygos, Merithra and Caelestrasz, trapped alive within Ahn'Qiraj but not granted the mercy of death as the emperors had believed.

The twins were stunned to learn that their overseer had somehow bound the three dragons, then drained their inherent magical energy and corrupted it for his own use - fortifying not only Moam, but the rest of his twisted creations as well. Truly, it seemed as if there was no limit to the powers of the Ancient One.

Pros:
+Excellent Sustained Damage
+Capable of High Burst Damage
+Good Escape
+Decently survivable with Mana Shield
+Medium-to-Long Range

Cons:
- Lack of CC without Talents
Low Mobility between Onyx Wings
- Must carefully consider Mana Costs, especially early game.
- Very Squishy if caught without Mana Shield

Combat Trait

1
Mana Shield
[Passive] Moam takes 20% less damage from spells.

Additionally, whenever Moam uses mana for a spell, Moam gains a shield equal to the mana spent for 10 seconds.

Primary Abilities

1
Orb of Annihilation
Moam deals 176 (+0.05 per level) damage to a single enemy unit. Costs 150 Mana. 3 Second Cool Down.
2
Devour Magic
Moam siphons the magic in a target area, draining 10% of the maximum mana of all enemies within. Additionally, all enemies within are purged of one positive effect or buff on them. Moam gains all Mana siphoned by this skill, as well as 5% of his maximum mana for every buff purged. Costs 50 Mana. 12 Second Cool Down.
3
Summon Mana Fiends
Moam creates 3 Mana Fiends in front of him. These Fiends attack nearby enemies for
23.92 (+0.04 per level) damage, prioritizing heroes. After 4 seconds, or upon being killed, they explode for 155.4 (+0.05 per level) damage in a small area. Costs 200 Mana. 12 Second Cool Down.

Heroic Abilities

1
Turn to Stone
Moam turns to Stone, gaining a passive 35% reduction to all damage taken and becoming immobile for 8 seconds. During this time, Moam cannot move or auto-attack, but may still cast spells freely, and the benefits of Mana Shield are doubled. Additionally, Moam regenerates 50% of his health, and 100% of his mana over the duration of Stone Form. Stone Form may not be cancelled until it's duration is finished. Costs 0 Mana. 90 Second Cool Down.
2
Detonate Mana
Moam creates a massive explosion of Mana in a large area around him, dealing 300 (+0.04 per level) damage to all enemies struck. This ability consumes all of Moams current Mana, and it's damage is increased by 1% for every 1% of his mana consumed by it.

If Moam uses more than 33% of his mana in this way, all enemies struck by Detonate Mana are slowed by 40% for 3 seconds.

If Moam uses more than 66% of his mana in this way, all enemies struck by Detonate Mana are additionally silenced for 1.5 seconds.

90 Second Cool Down.

Special Mount

1
Onyx Wings
Moam does not have a mount ability. Instead, he may activate this ability to gain 35% movement speed, and the ability to move over walls and units for 4 seconds. During this time he is unable to cast spells or attack. 30 Second Cool Down.

Strategy

Moam is a powerful ranged Assassin, that specializes in facing against foes who rely on mana for their spells and abilities. He is capable of dealing high, consistent damage from a range with his Orb of Annihilation or create a screen of high burst damage with his Mana Fiends. He lacks the ability to mount however, so his mobility is low outside of the bursts of speed he is capable of gaining from Onyx Wings. Since Onyx Wings only lasts a few seconds, players should take advantage of it's ability to traverse terrain to flee across terran their foes cannot pass through to make quick get aways, or surprise them for an ambush.

Moams Talents allow him to specialize in many different ways. He can add extra durability and mobility by boosting his natural trait through talents such as Mana Barrier or Flight of Stone, allowing him to survive a bit longer in engagements or when focused. While Moam possesses no natural CC, some talents such as Frost Orbs, or Unstable Fiends add some disruption to his kit, or the player can choose to simply further increase his damage with several other options. Most Notably, players can choose to massively boost their burst damage and team fight potential with Detonate Mana, or increase their durability and sustainability through picking up Turn to Stone, and choosing a more cautious approach to team fights.

Moam partners well with allies that can lock down enemies for him to destroy, so warriors and supports such as Muradin and Uther with CC and sustain work well with him. Malfurion earns a special mention due to innervate synergizing well with Moams especially mana-hungry Kit. Moam plays best against enemies without hard CC or whom apply and rely on buffs and heal over time effects, as he can devour these for his own gain. His worst enemy is the same as his best friend, as enemies who can lock down, slow, and stun Moam will cause him to die quickly, as he relies on casting spells to generate shields through Mana Shield for his durability.
