Ner'zhul

Deceived Shaman

Elder Shaman of the orcs and Warchief of the Shadowmoon Clan, Ner'zhul was greeted by his dead mate Rulkan in a dream, telling him to gather the other Warchiefs and send them to war against the Draenei. Ner'zhul led his people as she commanded, but it was too late when he discovered that she was actually the eredar lord Kil'jaeden. Ner'zhul tried to subtly escape the grasp of the demon, but his apprentice Gul'dan betrayed him. The deceived shaman watched as Gul'dan made the Horde into the puppets of the Burning Legion.

8 years later, after the Horde's defeat in the Second War, Ner'zhul took command of what few orcs remained on the fel-bleached wastes of Draenor, and sent forces into Azeroth to retrieve four legendary artifacts: the Eye of Dalaran, the Book of Medivh, the Skull of his apprentice Gul'dan, and the Scepter of Sargeras. Once retrieved, he used them to create hundreds of portals; originally he planned to invade unknown worlds, but by then he only wanted to serve himself. The force of the portals tore apart Draenor, making what remained into Outland, and Ner'zhul entered a portal only to find himself at the mercy of Kil'jaeden.

Ner'zhul would nearly meet his fate then before his soul was re-purposed as the Lich King, bound in ice atop Icecrown Citadel in Northrend. But that story is for another time....

---

Ner'zhul appears in the Nexus as he did at the end of Warcraft II: Beyond the Dark Portal. Equipped with legendary artifacts from Azeroth, he works to conquer the Nexus with newfound power, and may even inadvertently tear it apart as he did to Draenor.

Note: Ner'zhul's powers before becoming the Lich King don't seem to be defined well, from what I've read of the novel Rise of the Horde and seen in WoW (only partially from WoD). So, most of the abilities he has I've made up that I think conceptually fit him.

Combat Trait

1
Forbidden Power
When an enemy unit or structure is hit with Ner'zhul's abilities or auto-attack, they radiate Void energies in a large area around them for a small amount of time. When Ner'zhul is in this aura, he gains a large amount of increased resource generation.

Primary Abilities

1
Defiled Elements
Ner'zhul forces elemental powers in a surge of energy away from him. The elemental energy travels on the ground, damaging enemy units and healing friendly units it hits. Upon hitting an enemy/friendly Hero, the travel range and width of the projectile is increased.
2
Bad Omen
Ner'zhul looks into the future and gives a Bad Omen on a targeted enemy Hero. After a delayed amount of time, the Hero takes a small amount of damage and is silenced for a short duration.
3
Eclipse
Ner'zhul brings an eclipse over a targeted area. All enemy units and structures within take a percent amount of extra damage that ramps up over time the longer they are inside.

Secondary Abilities

1
Talent - Eye of Dalaran
Cast your stolen Eye of Dalaran upon an area in the map. If any enemy heroes are in the nearby area, they are revealed and can be seen for a short amount of time.
2
Talent - Book of Medivh
Read a page from the Book of Medivh to grant a friendly unit increased ability power and restore some of their resource.
3
Talent - Skull of Gul'dan
Tap into the skull of your former apprentice Gul'dan, granting you increased damage for a short duration.
4
Talent - Unleashed Void
Releases any Void Energy you obtained from using Eclipse. (Only unlocked with Lv. 13 Talent Tier 3)

Heroic Abilities

1
Scepter of Sargeras
Ner'zhul tears apart reality with the Scepter of Sargeras, creating up to 3 unstable portals that last for a short amount of time. The portals draw in everything around them, pulling enemy minions and Heroes toward them. If an enemy unit is close enough to a portal, they take massive damage. Multiple portals can be placed in the same area to increase the pulling strength, but damage from multiple portals falls off with each portal.
2
Damned Ritual
Undergo a ritual to summon a massively powerful Voidwalker. Ner'zhul must channel the ritual in order to summon the Voidwalker--if he is stunned, hexed, or similarly interrupted during the process, the ritual is cancelled and goes on a short cooldown. Upon finishing the ritual, a massive Voidwalker appears, walking down the nearest lane (if no enemy heroes are nearby and can be seen), attacking all structures with splash attacks. The Voidwalker only lasts for a certain duration before being drawn back into the void.
