The Elder Shaman

"During his youth, Ner'zhul would often venture near Auchindoun with his clan-mates. He was the only that was brave enough to enter its entryway.[6]

Ner'zhul was the chieftain and elder shaman of the Shadowmoon clan and one of the most popular figures in orcish society. He was admired, respected and venerated by all for his deep connection to the spirits, and was the closest thing the orcish race had to a single leader prior to the foundation of the Horde. However, deep within, Ner'zhul craved a power he did not have..."

Ner'zhul enters the Nexus at a Crossroads, striking a balance between his draw to the powers of life and death. Depending on whether he embraces his future as the Lich King or his legacy as a quiet hero to the Orcs and powerful shaman, he can serve his Nexus Allies as Tank, Support, or something between.

Either way, Ner'Zhul's strength is prolonged engagements. His trait, Aura of Undeath, drains the energy from his enemies while restoring his allies strength. The longer he stays alive, the harder it is for his enemies to resist him.

At level 10, Ner'Zhul can choose between three artifacts, depending on his choice he can achieve his goal of prolonging his battles by either empowering his allies, or becoming strong enough to survive the onslaught himself.

Ner'zhul's chief strengths are sustained damage, crowd control, and his flexibility as either tank or support. His weakness his his relative lack of damage, mediocre wave clear, and the fact that despite his flexibility he is not able to fully function as either tank or support completely prior to level 10.

Combat Trait

Aura of Shadow
Every four seconds, each enemy hero inside the radius of Ner'zhul's aura takes damage equal to 1% of its maximum health. The damage dealt by the Aura of Shadow is distributed among all allies (Including Ner'zhul) equally.

This effect can be toggled on and off, but will otherwise remain effective when Ner'zhul is not visible to his enemies. Damage dealt by Aura of Shadow cannot be fatal, but damage that would otherwise have been fatal will still provide healing.

Primary Abilities

Malevolence
Ner'zhul projects his shadow out in a line in front of him. Each enemy affected by the shadow takes 125(+4.5% per level) damage.

When a hero is affected by Malevolence, it is slowed by 30%, decaying for 8 seconds. This effect may stack up to three times. Each stack resets the decay of the slow and increases the slow by 10%. If the hero is at three stacks, a subsequent hit will stun them for .25 seconds. This effect can occur as many times as the hero is hit by Malevolence.

Omen of Death
Ner'zhul creates a cloud of Shadow Energy at the target location that persists for 6 seconds. Each second that an enemy remains in the cloud, it takes 75(+4% per level) damage. Allies inside the cloud take 10% less damage from all sources.

Shadow Pact
At the cost of 5% of his maximum health, Ner'zhul deals damage to all enemy heroes within the range of his Aura equal to 2% of their maximum health. This damage is returned as healing to Ner'zhul over the course of 3 seconds. The initial self-damage can be fatal (kill credits to enemy team). In the event that it is fatal, it still deals damage.

Secondary Abilities

Rulkan's Spirit
Summon the Spirit of Ner'Zhul's wife, Rulkan. Rulkan emanates an untalented version of Aura of Shadow at 75% of the normal radius. Cannot be destroyed. Provides small amount of vision at site of spirit.

Heroic Abilities

Scepter of Sargeras
Ner'Zhul uncovers the Scepter of Sargeras, which he wields to great effect.

The Scepter Boosts his Aura of Shadow, causing it to provide double its healing effect for effected allies. It increases his attack range to standard range attacker attack range. For these boons, Ner'zhul pays a price - he no longer regenerates health outside of the healing provided to him by his aura.

Dimensional Rift:



When Ner'zhul casts Dimensional Rift, the power of the Scepter of Sargeras bends reality to his will. All enemies within the range of Ner'Zhul's aura at the moment it is cast are slowed by 10%. Allies within the Aura are sped up by 5% for each effected enemy. This effect lasts for 6 seconds.

Skull of Gul'Dan
The Skull of Gul'Dan, Ner'Zhul's pupil and great rival, imbues him with raw power. His Aura of Shadow increases in power, causing it to slow enemies by 5% with each tick, stacking. Stacks decay rapidly, but new stacks refresh all previous stacks. Ner'zhul's attack range is cut in half when armed with the skull.

Consumption:



Ner'zhul may activate the Skull to create a wave of fel energy that radiates out of him through the range of his aura, slowly. Enemies hit take 300(+4% per level) damage. Consumption goes on cooldown as soon as the wave has finished traveling. Each enemy hit reduces its cooldown by 5 seconds. While it is on cooldown, the slow provided by the Skull is no longer in effect.

Eye of Dalaran
The Eye of Dalaran enhances Ner'Zhul's already considerable magical energies. It reduces all of his cooldowns by one second, including the cooldown of Aura of Shadow's tick rate.

Ner'zhul loses 250 health while wielding the eye.

QUEST: Every time Malevolence stuns a hero, increase it's damage by 2, up to 50.
REWARD: At 25 stacks, increase the length of the stun to .5 seconds.

Ner'Zhul's Vision



Gain unobstructed vision within the range of Aura of Shadows.

Portent of Doom



Omens of Death expand in size over their lifespan, up to 150% of their original size.

Lich King Ascendant



Double the self-heal from Shadow Pact

Hidden Savior



Allies in Aura range receive healing equal to half of the heal Ner'Zhul receives.

Dimensional Distortion



Enemies damaged by Shadow Pact are slowed by 10%/

Level 7



Malevolent Echoes



Enemies effected by Malevolence take 2% instead of 1% of their health as damage from Aura of Shadow.

Nulkan's Spirit



Adds the Activatable ablity Rulkan's Spirit.

ShadowMoon Rising



For each enemy effected by Aura of Shadow's most recent tick, Ner'zhul's movespeed is increased by 5%

Level 13



Shadow's Embrace



Allies inside Omen of Death at the moment of its casting receive a shield equal to 10% of their maximum health.

Shadow's Claws



Enemies inside Omen of Death at the moment of its casting take 40(+4% per level) damage from each of its ticks.

Shadow's Deceit



Enemies inside Omen of Death throughout its duration have their ability damage reduced by 10%. This effect lingers for 2 seconds after they leave the Omen.

Level 16



Malevolent Intent



Each stack of Malevolence currently active on enemy heroes increases Ner'zhul's Health Regeneration by 2%

Victim's Lament



Ner'zhul's Aura deals bonus damage the fewer heroes are in it. This bonus damage is a flat 550, subtracting 100 per hero.

Dark Mentor



Select an Allied Hero - that hero's damage will be boosted by 2% for each hero inside Ner'zhul's Aura

Level 20



Portents of Ascension



Select an additional Ult, and gain its passive effects. Ner'zhul cannot gain a new ability this way, and receives both positive and negative passive effects where applicable.

Sadistic Aura



Each tick of Ner'zhul's Aura lowers the cooldown on the next tick by .1 seconds.

Fade



Ner'zhul becomes ethereal for 8 seconds. He cannot be attacked or attack while ethereal, and receives full immunity to physical damage, but can still cast spells and receive spell damage normally.
