Observer

Noncombat Scout

The specialist Observer hero is permanently cloaked (unless it is channeling) and has a permanent small range of detection around it. It also has a larger sight radius than usual, but it has no auto-attack.

The Observer has no hearthstone and no mount. It moves at a slightly slower speed than other heroes.

The Observer has no hit points. Instead, if it takes damage or is targeted in any way by an opposing hero, it will immediately be teleported back to the Hall of Storms. This ability has a one minute cooldown. If the Observer takes damage or is targeted while this cooldown is active, then the Observer dies and has to wait on a respawn timer like other heroes.

The Observer has no mana. All abilities work on cooldowns.

Combat Trait

1
Pylon Warp-In
Warp in a pylon. Only one can exist at a time. Long cooldown.
2
Stasis Field
Passive ability. Can be turned on or off.

If a nearby friendly hero were to take lethal damage, prevent that damage and place the hero in a stasis field for two seconds. The Observer is teleported back to the Hall of Storms and the teleport cooldown is activated.

This ability cannot be used if the teleport cooldown is in effect.

Primary Abilities

1
Zealot Warp-In
Warp in a zealot. Must be used in range of a pylon. Very low cooldown.

The zealot has the same stats as an ordinary melee minion, but the low cooldown makes this ability easily repeatable.
2
Dragoon Warp-In
Warp in a dragoon. Must be used in range of a pylon. Low cooldown.

The dragoon has the same stats as an ordinary ranged minion, but the low cooldown makes this ability easily repeatable.
3
Energy Restoration
Restore X mana to a friendly hero or to a shield battery. 15 second cooldown.

This ability does a similar amount as Malfurian's Innervate, but has a significantly lower cooldown. The amount of mana restored to a shield battery may need to be different for balance purposes.

Heroic Abilities

1
Shield Battery Warp-In
The Observer begins the game with their heroic ability.

Warp in a shield battery. Must be used in range of a pylon. The shield battery is a structure that starts with 400 energy and has an automated ability to add shields to hero units in range. Heroes cannot gain more than 200 shields from this ability. These figures scale with the team's level when placing newly built shield batteries on the field.

The shield battery will only function if powered by a pylon. Only one shield battery can exist at a time. This heroic ability has a 90 second cooldown, but the building is permanent unless destroyed by the enemy or by placing a new shield battery.

Basic Talents

Early Talents
  • Reduce warp in time of all units/structures.
  • Increases the damage/stats of zealots created by the Q ability.
  • Increase the speed of the Observer to the normal speed of other heroes.
  • Increase the permanent detection radius of the Observer significantly.
  • Shield batteries can now place shields on friendly structures.

Later Talents
  • Allow an extra pylon to exist on the field.
  • Triple the cooldown on the Q ability but warp in three zealots at once.
  • Double the cooldown on the W ability, but adds a sentry to the W ability. This unit has low damage/hp, but casts a Guardian Shield over the minion wave and continually creates zealot/dragoon hallucinations that do no damage.
  • New ability: Warp in an observatory. Observatories do not need to be powered by a pylon. If the observatory is on the battlefield, then the Observer respawns there when taking damage instead of at the Hall of Storms.
  • Double the maximum amount of shields that the shield battery can place on hero units.

Heroic Talents

Level 10 Talents:
  • Allows shield battery to also target minions. Significantly increase the starting mana on the shield battery and increases the rate at which the shield battery can place shields.
  • Allows shield battery to also target minions. Minions with shields from the shield battery do a moderate amount of additional damage. This damage amount scales with the team's current level.

Level 20 Talents:
  • Allows two shield batteries on the battlefield at a time. The maximum cap of how much shields a hero can receive is removed.
  • When the heroic ability is used to warp in a shield battery, a photon cannon is also warped in next to it. If another photon cannon already exists on the battlefield, it is destroyed when this new photon cannon is warped in. The cooldown of the heroic ability is reduced to twenty seconds.
