Protoss Buffer Hero Concept

Karax is the chief Phasesmith of the Spear of Adun, a position fitting for his skill level. His efforts kept the Spear of Adun functional through the End War.

Karax specializes in strengthening and supporting his allies, making them more effective in combat. Between his damage mitigation and general efficiency buffs, Karax makes for a great Support, and with the right build can even function as a a pseudo-Healer.

The power field that surrounds him decreases his allies' mana costs, and can be talented to passively provide additional buffs such as spell power and spell armor.
Chrono Boost provides a 10% increase to an allied hero's attack and movement speed, mana and health regeneration, and basic ability cooldown rates, and keeping a Chrono Boosted ally within Karax's power field halts the duration timer of Chrono Boost.
Orbital Strike gives him options to directly deal damage to enemies, though it does have a delay before it lands that allows attentive enemies to evade it.
Temporal Restoration gives him a method to help mitigate damage taken, and can be upgraded and combined with other effects to allow him to actually act as a pseudo-healer in certain circumstances.

Karax's heroic abilities offer him ways to control the map more effectively. Solar Lance gives him another way to deal damage directly, while Reclamation allows him to turn the tides in a lane against large groups of non-hero enemies.

Karax also has a selection of 4 passive or active abilities at level 7 that give him additional ways to influence the battle.

Mana Cost Reduction: 20%
Karax passively generates a Power Field around himself. Karax's basic abilities cost 20% less mana if targeted within his Power Field. Allied Heroes' basic abilities cost 20% less mana if cast while they are within his Power Field.

❢ Quest: Collecting 10 Regeneration Globes increases Karax's Power Field's radius by 1, up to 4.
❢ Reward: After collecting 20 Regeneration Globes, Karax's basic abilities cost 50% less mana if targeted inside his Power Field.
❢ Reward: After collecting 40 Regeneration Globes, Karax's basic abilities no longer cost mana if targeted inside his Power Field.

Attack Speed: 0.25 sec.
Range: 5.5
Karax is followed by two Servitors that attack his target with beams of plasma, dealing a total of 60 damage per second.
Karax's basic attack speed and damage cannot be reduced. Karax can move and make basic attacks at the same time.

Chrono Boost: 10%
Duration: 6 sec.
Karax Chrono Boosts an allied Hero, increasing their movement and attack speed, basic ability cooldown rate, and health and mana regeneration rates by 10% for 6 seconds.
Karax's Power Field pauses the duration timer of any Chrono Boosts within its radius. There is no maximum number of Chrono Boosts that can be active at once.
Chrono Boost cannot be cast on Karax.

[W] Orbital Strike
Cooldown: 30 sec.
Mana Cost: 80
Damage: 240
Range: 20
Radius: 3
Charges: 3
Charge Cooldown: 1 sec.
Delay: 1.5 sec.
After 1.5 seconds a blast of plasma lands at a target location, dealing 240 damage to all enemies in the area.
Orbital Strike has 3 charges with a 1 second cooldown between charge uses. Orbital Strike's cooldown restores all charges at once.
Orbital Strike requires vision of the target area.
Orbital Strike deals 50% reduced damage to Structures

Mana Cost: 60
Healing: 50% of damage taken
Range: 10
Duration: 2 sec.
Karax selects an allied Hero and then heals them for 50% of the damage they take over the next 2 seconds.

Secondary Abilities

[Active] Servitor Barriers
Cooldown: 20 sec.
Shield Health: 20% of max health
Range: 5.5
Activate have Karax's Servitors shield an allied Hero over 2 seconds, granting them a shield equal to 20% of their maximum health that lasts until destroyed.
Karax's Servitors cannot attack enemies while shielding an ally.

This ability requires the Level 7 Talent [Active] Servitor Barriers.

Cooldown: 30 sec.
Duration: 30 sec.
Range: Global
Radius: 5.5
Charges: 2
Charge Cooldown: 5 sec.
Produces a power field which provides the same effects as Karax's power field at a fixed location for 30 seconds.
Projection Field has 2 charges with a 5 second cooldown between uses.
Projection Fields cannot overlap with each other, and their effects do not stack with Karax's power field.
Projection Fields do not require vision to place and do not grant vision.

This ability requires the Level 7 Talent [Active] Projection Field.

[Passive] Guardian Shell
Cooldown: 120 sec.
Shield Health: 1000
Duration: 2 sec.
Decay Duration: 2 sec.
Charges: 2
If an allied Hero within Karax's Power Field takes fatal damage, Karax will grant them a Guardian Shell, reducing their health to 1 and providing them with 1000 shields. The shield lasts for 2 seconds before decaying over 2 more seconds.
This ability has 2 charges.
This ability can be toggled on or off.

This passive ability requires the Level 7 Talent [Passive] Guardian Shell.

[Active] Photon Overcharge
Cooldown: 20 sec.
Damage: 60
Attack Speed: 1 sec.
Attack Range: 7.5
Duration: 10 sec.
Karax overcharges an allied Hero within his Power Field for 10 seconds, granting them an additional automatic attack that deals 60 damage every second to the nearest enemy within 7.5 range, prioritizing Heroes. If the attack hits an enemy Hero, it deals additional damage equal to 1% of the target's maximum health.
If the target of Photon Overcharge leaves Karax's Power Field, Photon Overcharge stops firing immediately, but will resume as soon as the target reenters the Power Field. The duration timer of Photon Overcharge does continue counting during this time.

This passive ability requires the Level 7 Talent [Active] Photon Overcharge.

Karax's view expands as he calls down up to 3 plasma beams from orbit. The beams move along a vector, dealing 320 damage to any enemy in their path. Each beam has a radius of 2 and travels 6 range over 1.5 seconds.
Solar Lance requires vision of the initial cast location but not of the whole path.
Solar Lance deals 50% reduced damage to Structures.

[R2] Reclamation
Cooldown: 50 sec.
Mana Cost: 120
Range: 4.5
Radius: 3
Cast Time: 2 sec.
Structure Stun Duration: 4 sec.
Karax channels for 2 seconds, then permanently converts all enemy non-Elite Minions and Mercenaries in an area into allies and instantly defeats any neutral non-Elite Monsters and Mercenaries. Any enemy Structures in the area are stunned for 4 seconds.

Level 1


[Trait] Orbital Assimilators
Every third Regeneration Globe gathered grants 100% additional health and mana instantly and 1 extra stack of Master Phasesmith.
Karax automatically collects neutral Regenration Globes that remain within his Power Field for 2 seconds or just before they time out.

[Q] Double Time
Chrono Boost can now stack up to 20%.

[W] Orbital Bombardment
Every enemy Hero hit by Orbital Strike reduces its cooldown by 3 seconds.

[E] Timelapse
Temporal Restoration now restores health every second.
Increases the duration of Temporal Restoration to 3 seconds.


Level 4


[Trait] Psionic Matrix
Karax's Power Field grants allied Heroes 10% spell power and 10 spell armor.

[Basic Attack] Plasma Lancers
Karax's basic attacks deal 500% damage to shields and reduce enemy Heroes' armor by 1, up to 25, for 2 seconds.

[Q] Chronal Desynchronization
Chrono Boosted allied Heroes within Karax's Power Field gain 5 armor every 2 seconds, up to 25 armor, until they leave the Power Field.

[E] Reinforcing Barrier
Temporal Restoration provides a shield equal to 4% of the target's maximum health for its duration.
? Quest: Heal at least 10%/20%/30%/40% of an allied Hero's maximum health with one cast of Temporal Restoration.
? Reward: Temporal Restoration's shield amount is increased to 8%/12%/16%/20% of the target's maximum health.


Level 7


[Active] Servitor Barriers
Activate to shield an allied Hero for a portion of their health.

[Active] Projection Field
Summons a stationary Power Field onto the map.

[Passive] Guardian Shell
Automatically provides a nearby allied Hero with a large shield just before death.

[Active] Photon Overcharge
Grants an allied Hero an additional automatic attack for a short period.


Level 13


[Trait] Distortion Zone
Enemies inside Karax's Power Field are slowed by 5% every second, up to 20%, for 2 seconds.

[Q] Lagtime
Chrono Boost can now be cast on enemy Heroes to reverse Chrono Boost them, granting the reverse of all of its buffs.

[W] Orbital Shock Strike
Orbital Strike deals 50% more damage to enemies in the center and knocks back enemies outside the center.

[W] Airburst Munitions
Increases the radius of Orbital Strike by 1 and reduces the delay by 0.5 seconds but reduces the damage dealt by 25%.


Level 16


[Trait] Chrono Field
Karax's Power Field passively applies an untalented 10% Chrono Boost to all non-Elite allies inside it for 2 seconds.
Chrono Field's Chrono Boost does not stack with other Chrono Boosts.

[Q] Time Dilation
Chrono Boost's non-movement speed related effects are increased to match the rate of any hostile slow applied to its target for the duration of the slow.
Stuns and roots increase Chrono Boost's non-movement speed related effects to 100% for the duration of the stun or root.

[E] Temporal Reset
If Temporal Restoration heals less than 10% or more than 40% of its target's maximum health, its cooldown is reset.

[E] Accelerated Healing
Allies affected by both Chrono Boost and Temporal Restoration heal for 10% of their missing health every second.



Level 20


[Passive] Khalai Ingenuity
Karax's basic and heroic abilities now have unlimited range.

[Q] Chronomancer
Chrono Boost gains 2 additional charges.
Chrono Boost can now be cast on Karax.

[E] Temporal Surge
Casting Temporal Restoration also applies it to all allied Heroes within a radius of 2 of the target.

[R1] Solar Flare
Increases Solar Lance's length and width by 25%.
Solar Lance lights the ground it passes over on fire for 6 seconds, dealing 60 damage per second to enemies in the area.

[R2] Conversion Refit
Increases the radius of Reclamation by 1.
Reclamation restores converted Minions' and Mercenaries' health to full and permanently increases their health and damage by 25%.

a nice concept but the "W" skill has to high cooldown in my oppinion decrease the dmg a bit but set the cooldown from it to 5-6 seconds if he has no turret nearby he has no offensive skills :/ , just saying ^^
