Pvt. Hank Harnack

Firebat Hero Concept

Hank Harnack was the first Confederate Firebat. Serving in the Heaven's Devils squad, alongside Tychus Findlay, James Raynor, Ryk Kydd, Connor Ward, Max Zander, and Lisa "Doc" Cassidy, Hank was wild and hot-headed. When the squad's technician Hiram Feek designed the prototype CMC-230XF Firebat suit, the pyromaniac in Hank fell in love almost immediately.

Unfortunately for the squad, they were betrayed by their commanding officer, Colonel Vanderspool, and only Findlay, Raynor, and Kydd survived. Hank Harnack fell while fending off Kel'Morian troops when he accidentally set fire to fuel that had spilled from his damaged suit, setting both himself and the Kel'Morian Sloth he was fighting on fire. His suffering was finally ended by a mercy bullet to the head, fired by Ryk Kydd.

Hank Harnack is a Multiclass Assassin/Warrior. He has 2 traits, and can be built to have a high amount of survivability and staying power or to have strong area denial and damage-over-time capabilities. His first trait, Adaptive Armor, increases his armor every time he takes damage, and can be upgraded to allow him to shrug off burst damage or soak up loads of sustained damage. His second trait, Portrenol Fuel, takes the place of mana as Harnack's resource and causes his basic attacks and some of his abilities to apply a Burn effect to enemies, dealing moderate damage over short period of time. These two traits make up the backbone of his kit, so many of his talents focus around them.

Combat Trait

[Trait 1] Adaptive Armor
Harnack's Firebat suit is outfitted with specialized armor that adapts to nullify incoming damage for a short period.
Base Armor: 10
Maximum Stacks: 25
Armor per Stack: 1
Duration: 5 sec.
Every time Harnack takes damage he gains 1 stack of Adaptive Armor, up to 25 stacks. Each stack grants 1 additional armor.
Stacks of Adaptive Armor last for 5 seconds, and are refreshed by taking damage again before they decay completely.

[Trait 2] Portrenol Fuel
Harnack's uses Portrenol Fuel to set fire to his enemies, but has a limited amount.
Maximum Fuel: 100
Burn Duration: 2 sec.
Burn Damage: 40
Burn Rate: 0.5 sec.
Harnack has a maximum of 100 Fuel. If his Fuel is too low, he must refuel before he can cast an ability.
All of Harnack's basic attacks and abilities apply a Burn effect that deals 80 damage per second (40 x2 per sec.) for 2 seconds.
Enemies who are affected by Burn take damage over time. Applying Burn to an enemy who is already affected refreshes the duration.
The Burn effect does not stack with itself.

[D] Fueled Up
Harnack pauses to refuel his fuel tank.
Cooldown: 9 sec.
Fuel cost: N/A
Duration: 3 sec.
Harnack stops moving for 3 seconds as he refills his fuel tank, restoring his Fuel back to full.
Harnack is immobile while Fueled Up is active.
Being stunned while refueling cancels Fueled Up.
Cannot be activated if Harnack's Fuel is already full.

[Basic Attack] Incinerator Gauntlets
Harnack's Firebat suit is equipped with twin flamethrowing Incinerator Gauntlets.

Attack Speed: 2 sec.
Damage: 120
Fuel Cost: 1
Harnack's attacks are jets of burning fuel that drain 1 fuel per attack, but billow outward and damage all enemies in their path.
Due to the AoE nature of Harnack's basic attacks, being Blinded does not actually affect him.

Primary Abilities

[Q] Brushfire
Harnack burns the brush around him, creating a small fire that spreads rapidly.
Cooldown: 6 sec.
Fuel Cost: 10
Duration: 4 sec.
Damage: 50
Radius: 3
Harnack lights fire to an spot underneath himself, which then spreads outwards to a radius of 3 over 3 seconds before lingering for 1 more second. The AoE deals 50 damage per second and applies Burn to enemies inside it.
Brushfire does not apply Burn to or damage structures.

[W] Heatwave
Harnack superheats the air around him, creating a fiery pressure wave that slows and burns enemies.
Cooldown: 8 sec.

Damage: 90
Slow: 40%
Slow Duration: 2 sec.
Radius: 4
Harnack releases a burst of fire and superheated gas around him, damaging nearby enemies, as well as applying Burn and a 40% slow to enemy heroes.
The Burn and slow applied by Heatwave only affects enemy heroes. They do not apply to minions, mercenaries, structures, etc.

Harnack braces himself against incoming fire, shrugging most of it off.
Cooldown: 8 sec.
Fuel Cost: 0
Duration: 5 sec.
Armor: 50
Harnack stands in place and braces himself, becoming Rooted and Unstoppable and increasing his armor to 50 for 5 seconds.
Harnack can attack enemies within range while Brace is active.
Armor granted by Brace does not stack with armor from Adaptive Armor, but Harnack can gain stacks of Adaptive Armor while Brace is active.
This ability can be canceled after 1 second by reactivating it.

[Passive] Eternal Flame
Seeing those who would try to kill him and his friends burning to ash gets Harnack's adrenaline pumping like nothing else.
Hero Damage Healing: 50%
Non-Hero Damage Healing: 5%
Damage dealt by Burn restores Harnack's health. He regains health equal to 50% of the damage dealt to heroes and 5% of the damage dealt to non-heroes.

Heroic Abilities

(Passive)
Harnack's suit builds up heat while in combat, making his flames hotter and more dangerous to both enemies and himself.
Maximum Heat: 50
Damage Increase per Heat: 1%
Damage Taken per Heat: 1 per sec.
Heat Duration: 5 sec.
Heat Reduction Rate: 5 per sec.
Harnack gains 2 Heat whenever he makes a basic attack and 5 Heat whenever he casts an ability, up to a maximum of 50 Heat. Each point of Heat increases the damage of Harnack's abilities and basic attacks by 1%, but also deals 1 damage per second to Harnack. At 50 Heat, Harnack deals 50% additional damage and takes 50 damage every second.
The bonus damage granted by Heat does not affect the Burning effect applied by abilities and basic attacks.
After 5 seconds without gaining any more Heat, Harnack will lose 5 Heat every second.

(Active)
Harnack vents the heat trapped in his suit's systems into the air around him, cooling his suit to safer temperatures and scorching the area around him.
Cooldown: 10 sec.
Damage per Heat: 3
Range: 2
Duration: 3 sec.
Harnack becomes immobile and Unstoppable for 3 seconds, during which he loses all Heat he currently has. Nearby enemies take 3 damage every second for each point of Heat Harnack is losing. At 50 Heat, nearby enemies take 150 damage every second.

[R2] Juggernaut
Harnack's suit enters a kind of lockdown state, strengthening its defenses for a short period.

Cooldown: 35 sec.
Duration: 6 sec.
Armor per Stack
Harnack gains the maximum number of stacks of Adaptive Armor and becomes Unstoppable for 6 seconds.

Talents

Level 1
[Trait 2] Small Fry(!)- Applying Burn to minions or mercenaries for 14 cumulative seconds increases the damage it deals to them by 10%, up to 200%.
[Trait 2,Q] Arsonist - Brushfire can now damage and apply Burn to structures and causes Burn to deal 300% damage to structures.
[Basic Attack] Nano-Projectors - Increases basic attack range and width by 1.
[Q] Wildfire(!)- After Brushfire applies Burn to 40 enemies, its radius increases by 1; After Brushfire applies Burn to 120 enemies, it lingers for 2 more seconds.


Level 4
[Trait 1] Memory Foam(!)- Every 10 seconds spent with full stacks of Adaptive Armor increases the duration of Adaptive Armor by 0.5 seconds, up to 5 seconds.
[Trait 1] Noncorroding Alloys - Each stack of Adaptive Armor reduces the damage of damage-over-time and percentage-based-damage effects by 3%.
[W] Heat Shield - Each enemy hero hit by Heatwave grants Harnack a shield equal to 6% of his maximum health for 6 seconds.
[Passive] Ablative Plating - Taking damage greater than 20% of his maximum health causes Harnack to lose 5 armor and reduces that instance of damage by 90%.


Level 7
[Trait 2] Pyromaniac - Applying a new Burn to enemies reduces ability cooldowns by 0.1 seconds for non-hero enemies and by 0.5 seconds for heroic enemies.
[D] Burning Daylight - Reduces the duration of Fueled Up by 1 second and causes it to reset all of Harnack's basic ability cooldowns.
[Basic Attack] Torrent - Increases basic attack speed by 100% and basic attack fuel cost by 2.
[W] Riders of the Apocalypse - Heatwave increases the movement speed of allied heroes within range by 20%.
[E] Wall of Fire - Reduces the armor of Brace to 30 but increases his body size by 50% and causes basic attacks to refresh its duration.


Level 13
[Trait 2] Firestarter - Burn spreads from affected enemies to other enemies within 1.5 range.
[Trait 2] Ruination - Burn deals additional damage to heroes equal to 1% of their maximum health every second.
[Trait 2,Q] Ionizing Reaction - Brushfire and Burn now deal 500% damage to shields.
[Q] Refraction Zone - Attacks made against allied heroes or by enemy heroes inside the area of Brushfire deal 50% less damage.
[W] Overpressure - Causes Heatwave to stun enemies within 2 range for 1 second but increases its cooldown by 2 seconds.


Level 16
[Trait 1] Heavy Plating - Increases Harnack's base armor by 5 and increases the maximum number of stacks of Adaptive Armor by 10.
[Trait 2] Living Torch - When Harnack has 25 stacks of Adaptive Armor he automatically applies Burn to enemies within 4 range.
[Trait 2] By Fire be Purged - Burn lasts 2 seconds longer and reduces enemy armor by 10 for its duration.
[Q,W] Bathe in Flames - Casting Brushfire or Heatwave has a 33% chance to cleanse Harnack of all negative status effects.


Level 20
[Trait 1] Trial by Fire - When Harnack loses stacks of Adaptive Armor, he regains 1% of his maximum health for every stack he loses.
[Trait 2] Eternal Flame - Damaging enemies with Burn restores Harnack's health.
[Q, W] Scorched Earth - Enemies damaged by Heatwave or Brushfire receive 40% less healing until they are no longer affected by Burn.
[R1] Meltdown - Increases maximum Heat by 50 and causes Harnack to explode if he dies with more than 50 Heat, dealing 600 damage to nearby enemies.
