Last Champion of Aiur

"The only cure for our infestation is purification by fire"

From a dark timeline where Aiur is fallen and the Protoss defeated.  The few who survived on the run from an ascendant Swarm.  No future for them.  No victory to be earned.  Only a doomed rearguard action that sees world after world burned in the attempt to stave off inevitable defeat.  As the shadows gather at their heels, Selendis is left to carry the torch of their civilization.  She has assumed the mantle of Protoss leadership when that means only leading her people through their last, terrible days.  Inspired by past champions such as Artanis and Tassadar, she fights on.  Battling against their twilight, determined not to go quietly.  Or alone.  Because the only thing Selendis has yet to lose is an honor which cannot be failed.  So the void itself will burn as she turns the galaxy into her race's funeral pyre.


NOTE:  Selendis's basic abilities have no cooldown.  Instead, she begins with a full tank of a custom resource, Psychic Energy, and gets to choose how best to burn through it to fuel her skills.

Combat Trait

PSYCHIC WARRIOR
You use Psychic Energy (PSI) instead of Mana.  You begin with full PSI and use it to power your abilities and your PSYCHIC DEFENSES.  PSI is regained through basic attacking.  Activate this skill to apply HUNTER'S FOCUS to a target enemy, this will grant additional effects to your basic abilities.

Note: Psychic energy would be a purple bar, replacing the blue one for mana.

PSYCHIC DEFENSES
You take less damage the more PSI you have, up to a maximum of 25% less damage from all sources at full PSI.

Note: This would be represented by a glowing purple sheen around Selendis that becomes more opaque the more PSI she stores.

HUNTER'S FOCUS
You mark target foe and are aware of their general direction before the effect fades.  For a short while, you may spend a small amount of PSI to reactivate this skill and Reveal them for a time.  Your basic abilities have additional effects against foes you have Focused.

Note: This would have an arrow or indicator of some sort that pointed towards your prey.

Primary Abilities

Warrior's Zeal
Reset your basic attack cooldown and gain bonus damage on your next basic attack.

FOCUS effect: You become Unstoppable for a short time.

WILL OF AIUR
Channel briefly before unleashing a wave of psychic energy.  Nearby enemies are damaged and pushed back.

FOCUS effect: Focused enemies are not pushed back and are Rooted until you finish channeling.

RIGHTEOUS ASSAULT
You leap to your target and strike them for damage.

FOCUS effect: You teleport behind your target instead.

Heroic Abilities

Cleansing Fire
Call down a wide plasma beam from the orbiting Protoss carrier.  For a short while, it slowly converges on your location and will revolve around you if it should reach.  Enemies caught in the beam will take damage over time.

Challenge of the Khalai
You grip a foe with telekinetic strength.  For a short while, your target moves slower the farther away from you they get and you gain bonus attack damage the closer to them you come.  This effect ends if your target moves out of its range.

Special Mount

SOLDIER'S CHARGE
For a short time, you gain a stacking bonus to your movement speed and damage on your next basic attack.

Note: Costs a small amount of PSI.  Has a short, spammable cooldown and a duration that facilitates easy stacking.  Selendis does not have a normal mount.

ROLE

Selendis is a strong and swift attacker, competing for the same slots as an Illidan or Zeratul, with a basic attack that can make quick work of weaker characters all on its own. She's also a combo character, like a Kerrigan, who can land a rotation of devastating skills in a hurry.  Able to burst or sustain damage in equal measure and to change tactics over the course of a match without having to rely on a particular talent build, Selendis is flexible.  Bursting down targets requires her to spend her PSI resource, though, becoming more vulnerable in the process.  While staying protected means conserving her PSI and relying on her auto-attack.  But what she's best at, as one of the fastest characters in the game, is chasing down her prey.  Playing Selendis would require balancing risk and reward while seeking the opportunity to strike.
