The Paladin

An idea for the paladin from diablo 2 in HotS

Combat Trait

1
Aura
Chosen level 1, all the auras have a range of like 3 or something.

I'm not certain what auras to include, but I think an easy list is 4 of these 5:
Salvation Aura: Allies and Sigon gain +10 spell armour.
Defiance Aura: Allies and Sigon gain +10 physical armour.
Thorns Aura: Allies and Sigon deal damage back to enemies that attack them.

and one of these 2
Fanaticism Aura: Allies and Sigon gain +10% attack damage and speed.
Conviction Aura: Enemies gain -10 armour.

Sigon also has 15 armour by default.

Primary Abilities

Zeal
Upon activation Sigon's next basic attack damages to all enemies within attack range.
3 second cooldown.

Holy Bolt
Skill shot that deals 200(+4% per level) damage to the first enemy it hits or heals the first ally it hits for 200(+4% per level).
8 second cooldown.

Holy Shield
Sigon doubles his current armour for 2 seconds, ignoring armour caps.
10 second cooldown.

Heroic Abilities

Fist of Heaven
Calls down a bolt of lightning upon the target, causing 300(+4% per level) damage and shooting out 4 holy bolts, one in each diagonal direction to Sigon's position in relation to the target.
80 second cooldown.

Holy Hammers
Creates a hammer that spirals outward from Sigon, dealing 50(+4% per level) damage to each enemy it hits. Any number of hammers can be active at a time.
10 second cool down, 5 charges.

The intention of this ability is to emulate Paladin's blessed hammer which could be cast as many times as the user had mana.

Sigon, The Paladin

Sigon is a support tank based on the paladin from diablo 2. He has very little CC, but his team has much more power when near him.

Aura lets him counter pick against most team comps. It also improves holy shield's effectiveness if one of the armour auras is taken. Thorns is good against fast auto attack characters like Tracer as well as AOE attackers like Blaze. Finally the damage auras are just good for teams with strong front lines.

Zeal is a pretty basic ability that could have some talents giving it a slow or increased damage to a single target. It gives him some easy options for laning, but since he's not supposed to be a bruiser it's probably only marginally useful in team fights.

Holy bolt gives him a long cooldown skill shot that does good damage and can be used to heal an ally in a pinch. It's pretty much all of his damage. It could have a talent to make it cleanse, stun, or pierce a target.

Holy shield has the potential to bring Sigon's armour up to 100% with ally help. It gives him some burst survival and has synergy with armour gained from allies' abilities as well as his aura.

Fist of heaven is a high damage ability which can be used to damage or heal in a team fight. the basic hit is easy to hit with, but the holy bolts are hard to hit with.

Holy hammers on the other hand is a constant menace in team fights. They deal scratch damage, but can be burst out to create a zone of relatively high damage. It's a tool that can be used to zone out enemies or interrupt an objective.
