"Paladin is a battle-ready warrior for whom faith is a shield, and fights for what he believes to be right. His steadfastness gives him powers to bestow blessings to his friends and wreak cruel justice on foes. There are those who call the Paladin an overwrought zealot, but others recognize in him the strength and goodness of the Light."
Base stats:
Health: 920
Health regen: 1.950
Energy: 500
Energy regen: 3
Speed: 4.3984
Attack speed: 1
Attack range: 1
Attack Damage: 30
Role: melee support (support/warrior hybrid)
Difficulty: medium/hard
Note: his abilities are inspired by lack of typical support from Diablo universe. Paladin would be AOE melee supports, with bigger amount of health than support heroes usually have. While in Diablo 2 paladin was a type of tanky warrior, his "auradin" build could work perfectly for a support hero.
Combat Trait
1
(TRAIT) Blessed Aura
Activate to choose your Aura. Only one Aura can be active at the time.
2
(AURA) Defiance
Aura giving you and nearby allies a shield increasing 10% of their max Health.

3
(AURA) Might
Aura increasing your and nearby allies attack damage by 10%.
Caught up in the fervor of battle, the Paladin calls upon the power of righteousness and the strength of justice to add force to the attacks of his party. What would be glancing blows now strike their mark, and otherwise deflected strikes rend through armor to bite flesh.
4
(AURA) Fanaticism
Aura increasing your and nearby allies movement and attackspeed by 10%.
"True faith can cause its believers to perform fantastic feats. With this aura the Paladin, and all those allied with his cause, carry themselves with a zealous fervor, allowing them to strike down their foes as swiftly as the scythe reaps the harvest."
Primary Abilities

(Q) Conversion

Cooldown: 10 seconds.
"Through force of will and strength of steel, a noble Paladin with this skill is able to blind his enemies with the glory of the Light. After trading blows with the Paladin and facing the fire of righteousness burning in his eyes, an enemy will be struck with a divine epiphany and momentarily repent his past undertakings"
2
(W) Prayer

Heroic Abilities
1
(R) Fist of the Heavens
Unleashes Holy Bolts that deal 320 damage per second in a large area around you. Lasts 3 seconds.
Cooldown: 100 seconds.
This spell allows the Paladin to summon the power of holy vengeance. Manifesting as lightning from the heavens, these bolts rain down from the sky, exploding into a thousand shafts of light that radiate outwards to banish the evil from the battlefield.
2
(R) Salvation
Instantly heals you and all your allies on the battleground for 760 health.
Cooldown: 100 seconds
"Trust in the glory of the Light, for its authority supercedes all power in the mortal world. With this aura, the Paladin calls upon the Light to save life of his allies."
TALENTS
TIER 1
Block - Periodically reduces the damage received from Hero Basic Attacks by 50%. Stores up to 2 charges.
- Aura of Zakarum - Cooldown of your Blessed Aura is reduced to 15 seconds
Question on the W. does it also give a shield to you or your ally? Coz your flavor text says it shields you both.
Also, his basic abilities are more fitting for a warrior than a support.
Q - basically Uther's Hammer of justice. And it deals too much damage for a support ability.
Suggestion: reduce damage to around 130-150. 200 damage is already assassin worthy damage.
E - it's called sanctuary but it's just a toned down furnace blast in actuality.
Suggestion: Make it into a zoning + healing ability. example: "heroes are healed for X and enemies can't enter the area for X seconds."
Fist of the Heavens - again 360 damage a second too high, hell you could out damage Li-Ming with a full offensive build and taking this heroic.
Suggestion: take the D2 effect. You smite an enemy for X damage and the smitten enemy releases holy bolts around it that deal damage to enemies. This would be good for splitting the enemy team up.
Anyway, I like the concept as it does have the Paladin feel to it. But as a support hero, he needs more utility or damage mitigation to be a viable support.
I know about Monk's mantras, but I think it don't exclude also having character having permanent auras - but generally it depends of how Mantras would work in HoTS. We'll see.
What makes you think they won't be permanent? It's his trait. Of course they'll be permanent just like they're in Diablo III. Auras and Mantras are basically the exact same thing.
But yeah. Of course it is not guaranteed that no Diablo II classes will be added to the game as heroes. I highly doubt they will, though. The Amazon skin doesn't exactly give much encouragement. If any of them will be added I bet it'll be the Necromancer at least, if not only him, because while he is similar to the Witch Doctor he got some unique spells of his own and the class did make an appearance in Diablo III a couple of times. The others? I won't hold my breath for them. Yes, not even for the druid. I bet the shift changing druid will be from WoW. But, whatever. We shall see indeed.
It's not a fact with that Tirion - it's only a guessing. But I'll correct myself - we still don't have aura paladin ingame, but it's very possible that we could get (for example) Tirion Fordring (or other WoW paladin) as Warcraft example, or (supposed) Diablo 2 Paladin as Diablo example. It's not certain of course, but it's just possible option. My apologies if I mislead you.

Well, some Diablo III classes indeed taken much from Diablo 2 - for example Witch Doctor taken much from Necromancer. But - playable Witch Doctor in Heroes of the Storm has abilities a lot different from Necromancer's ones (who could use curses, bone shield, raising skeleton) - it means that there's still place for playable Necromancer. The same with Druid - none of Diablo 3 class have shapeshifting in HoTS, I would say more - even Druid we have from Warcraft isn't a shapeshifter. So again - I believe there's a place for Diablo 2 Druid. I think it could be the same with Paladin (since Crusader is typical tanky warrior) - but I admit that Paladin isn't priority as much as Druid or Necromancer who are a lot more unique in terms of gameplay or even artistic design.
Getting Amazon as a skin for Nova doesn't necessary prove that all Diablo 2 heroes end only as skins. Some of them, of course will - probably Diablo 2 Sorceress will be just a skin for Jaina or Wizard (if Wizard is going to be female). But it doesn't mean that there will be completely no Diablo 2 character playable in HoTS - especially that devs said they are considering inclusion of some of them ingame. Well, as you know we're getting the (male) Monk from Diablo III as a melee Support. But did you know that his first talent choice he's going to make is his Trait choice? Different mantras with their own buffs as far as I understood. So there's your auras.
And I don't know where you got that "We have 50/50% chances to have Tirion Fordring and Diablo 2 paladin" 'fact' from. Would love to know your source of that information.
And the sad fact is that the current Diablo III classes are pretty much doing everything the Diablo II classes are so I'm afraid we don't see them in the game. Nova's Amazon skin pretty much proves it. The best we'll get are skins.
I know, that Paladins and Crusaders are almost the same, and that Crusader from Diablo 3 has a lot of Diablo 2 Paladin's abilities.
But the case is, that we have already two "paladins" in game (Uther and Johanna) - and none of them have auras. In Blizzard games featuring paladins (Diablo, Warcraft, World of Warcraft) auras are inherent features that paladins have. It means, that in HoTS still there is a niche for "auradin".
So, let's go to the heart of the case: if still there's a niche, they can bring "auradin" into game. We have 50/50% chances to have Tirion Fordring and Diablo 2 paladin, so why not choose Diablo 2? We have already so little ammount of Support characters in HoTS from Diablo universe (I'm including Monk already, beause he's confirmed) and I believe that Auradin support would work great for that one.
And why do you think that they will not add Diablo 2 heroes as playable? Diablo 2 was one of their best games and neglecting that would be a stupid move.
You do know that the paladins of Sanctuary are just inferior Crusaders when it comes to their strength and the way they wield the powers of the Light, right? I doubt Blizzard will bother to add a paladin hero from Diablo universe to Heroes of the Storm. Actually I don't think they will release any classes from Diablo II as heroes. The most you'll probably get are skins like the Amazon skin for Nova.
