Stukov is a former member of the United Earth Directorate and the second-in-command of the expedition that led the UED out to the Koprulu sector. A brilliant tactician in his own right, he fought at the UED's bidding and sought to bring the Terran colonies under UED control. After being betrayed by his superior, DuGalle (at the goading of Samir Duran), he was killed and his body shot into space....but his death was short-lived, as his body was captured and experimented on by a cerebrate, turning him infested as part of an effort to create infested human commanders for the Zerg to use. Despite efforts made later on to remove the infestation from him, eventually Moebius gave in to experimentation on him as their "cure" slowly wore off. As a result, Stukov has lived a life of constant betrayals and sought revenge against Duran, later known as Narud, through the use of the Swarm. His tactical knowledge and control of the infested serve him well in battle and enable him to employ a host of different strategies to take down his enemies.
Stukov has become one of my biggest challenges yet. I wanted to balance his Co-Op kit (which is oriented around swarms of infested) with my original plans for him using his Heart of the Swarm kit (a team-fight/support unit). I also wanted to avoid overlap with my design for
Izsha, which eliminated Broodlings as an option. As a result, Stukov has evolved from an ordinary support into a multi-class hero that can choose either support or specialist roles. Instead of altering his base stats, which is an aspect of Varian's kit that I'm not entirely fond of, his basic abilities are altered by his heroic selection. This allows him to remain relatively consistent throughout the game in terms of what his kit can do, while still improving his function in key areas that the team needs him for. Thus, Stukov can now provide significant pressure in a team fight, focus on split-pushing and taking out structures, or shift to a supportive role and help his allies from the rear.
Hero Type: Ranged Multi-Class (Support/Specialist)
Difficulty:
Medium
Pros:
- Stukov can soften up an enemy structure or hero using Corrosive Blast.
- Stukov provides minor healing in an area using Regeneration Aura, and he can also help heal structures using Infest.
- Stukov's Infested Civilians and Infested Terrans grant him a lot of split-pushing power when in lane.
- Stukov's heroic abilities allow him to change his focus to either a team-fighting specialist (Ensnare), split-pushing specialist (Psi Emitter), or a strong passive support (Wild Mutation), depending on what his team needs.
Cons:
- Stukov doesn't provide significant damage of his own, relying on his minions and Corrosive Blast to weaken his targets up.
- Infested Terrans deal damage from range, but are otherwise easy to kill. Infested Civilians are also fairly weak individually, meaning they will not have much push power on their own.
- Without Wild Mutation, Stukov's ability to heal his allies is fairly limited, reserving him to more of a secondary support role at best. Similarly, his split-push power and team fight pressure are both significantly more limited if he doesn't select the respective heroic.
