Suen

The Solar Consort

The Twin Consorts are a unique raid boss in the Throne of Thunder, with an interesting duality aspect in both theme and mechanics. With their Day and Night cycle and both helping and hindering one another, me and Bliztron(the fellow designer who worked on these two) figured they'd make an interesting hero concept.

In the Nexus, Suen is a highly aggressive Melee Assassin with low range and a theme of ramping damage, excelling the longer she can keep near her opponents. Working in tandem with her sister, Lu’lin, their playstyles complement one another overall, but they must take caution, as some of their abilities can disrupt the other’s.

This concept is a dual hero concept I worked on with Bliztron, who worked on Lu’lin. You can find his Lu’lin here:

[Lu'lin, The Lunar Consort]

Combat Trait

1
[D] - Celestial Cycle
Passive
Suen & Lu’lin share a Celestial Cycle, which rotates between 3 phases: Day, Night, and Dusk(/Dawn). Day & Night last for 5 seconds, while Dusk lasts for 10 seconds. While it is Day, Suen’s abilities are empowered. While it is Night, Suen phases out, losing her normal abilities and gaining two new ones. Suen also gains 20% movement speed, and takes 50% reduced damage, but cannot basic attack or channel objectives while phased out. While it is Dusk, Suen gains and loses nothing. While Lu’lin is dead, it is always Day. Suen cannot move more than 9 units away from Lu’lin at all times. When Suen respawns, her respawn is delayed for .25 seconds for every 5 units between the Hall of Storms and Lu’lin, after which time she spawns within 3 units of Lu’lin.

Primary Abilities

1
[Q] - Fan of Flames
Active
Suen sweeps her fans in target direction, dealing 120(+4%/level) damage to enemies hit and increasing the damage she deals to them by 20% for 1.5 seconds. Within 4 seconds, Suen can recast Fan of Flames three times, sweeping her fans an additional time each recast. Recasts deal 60(+4%/level) damage, and apply the same damage increase for 1 second, or extend it by 0.5 seconds if its already present.

While it is Day, Fan of Flames unleashes a wave of fire out from its area, reaching an additional 2 units and dealing 80(+4%/level) damage on the primary cast, and 40(+4%/level) damage on the recasts. This damage does not increase Suen’s damage to those targets.

Area - 100°, 2 units
Cooldown - 8 seconds.
Cost - 40 Mana(Initial Cast); None(Recasts).

[W] - Blazing Radiance

Suen begins focusing the powers of the sun, burning nearby enemies for 35(+4%/level) damage per second. Every second Blazing Radiance remains active, it deals slowly increasing damage, dealing 10% increased damage every second. Blazing Radiance lasts for 5 seconds.

While it is Day, the area of Blazing Radiance increases by 50%, and enemies within its radius take an additional 10% increased damage from it per second, stacking additively with the normal damage increase.

Radius - 3.0
Cooldown - 8 seconds.
Cost - 35 Mana.

3
[E] - Flames of Passion
Active
Suen quickly leaps towards target point, unleashing a quick circular sweep with her fans, dealing 160(+4%/level) damage to nearby enemies, slowing them by 40%, decaying over 2 seconds. After this attack, Suen quickly dashes back to her casting point, leaving a trail of fire that burns enemies standing on it for 20(+4%/level) damage per second, which lasts for 3 seconds.

While it is Day, Suen will not immediately return to Flames of Passion’s casting point, instead having the ability to recast the ability within 2.5 seconds to dash back as normal.

Cast Range - 4.5
Sweep Radius - 2.5
Line Width - 1.0
Cooldown - 10 seconds.
Cost - 35 Mana.

Heroic Abilities

1
[R] - Nuclear Inferno
Active
Suen begins channeling for up to 4 seconds, gaining Evasion and 25 Spell Armor during this time. Each second, Suen unleashes a powerful blast of fire in target direction, covering an 80° cone out to range 8. Enemies caught by the fire are dealt 200(+4%/level) damage instantly and burned for an additional 100(+4%/level) damage over 4 seconds(12.5 per 0.5 seconds). This damage over time stacks, but additional applications do not refresh previous ones.

Cooldown - 100 seconds.
Cost - 100 Mana.

After a 0.75 second delay, a flare of power erupts from Lu’lin, burning all enemies within range 5 for 150(+4%/level) damage, and applying Solar Burn for 3 seconds, dealing 35(+4%/level) damage per second. While Suen or Lu’lin can see that enemy hero, the duration of Solar Burn is paused.

Cooldown - 30 seconds.
