Lord of the Shado-Pan

Taran Zhu is the Lord and Leader of the Shado-Pan, who are trained from a young age to be the guardians of Pandaria's peace. Trained in martial arts, Taran Zhu can move around quickly and strike fiercely to take down his opponents.

Taran Zhu excels in small skirmishes and one on one fights, but struggles to be effective in the chaos of a full on teamfight. By having energy, it is crucial to land your abilities, or else you may find yourself with an alive enemy and no more resources to escape or finish taking them down. By positioning wisely and using your skills at the right times, you can easily take down a priority target.

Combat Trait

Way of the Shado-Pan
The first auto attack against an enemy hero causes them to lose 25 armor for 2 seconds. Taran Zhu's abilities and auto attacks extend this duration by one second, up to 6. Limit one target.

Whirling Dragon Punch
6 Second Cooldown
Cost: 30 Energy
Performs a whirling upward strike, damaging all nearby enemies, but briefly stopping your movement.

Fists of Fury
14 Second Cooldown
Cost: 50 Energy
Rapidly punch and area in target direction, dealing damage every second over a 3 second channel.
Hitting somebody with all three ticks of damage grants Taran Zhu 30 Energy.
Can be channeled while moving.

Works similar to how you aim/position D.Va's Defense Matrix, you use it above you and the cone will always be aiming above you for the duration.

Flying Serpent Kick
8 Second Cooldown
Cost: 50 Energy
Leap forward in target direction. Upon reactivating, getting interrupted, or reaching the end of your path, strike downwards, damaging and slowing all nearby enemies by 15% for 2 seconds.

Invoke Xuen, The White Tiger
100 Second Cooldown

Call upon the White Tiger Celestial to attack a target, Xuen will continuously apply Way of the Shado-Pan to its target, as well as discharge tiger lightning to all nearby foes dealing minor damage. Xuens auto attacks apply Way of the Shado-Pan to his target (Limit one)
Can reactivate this ability to re-target Xuen.
Last 15 Seconds. Cooldown starts when Xuen Disappears

Touch of Karma
50 Second Cooldown

Store all damage you take from target hero for 6 seconds.
After 6 seconds, redirect all stored damage to the target.

Tiger Style
Hitting an enemy hero affected by Way of the Shado-Pan increases you movement speed by 20% for second

Hit Combo
Quest!: Hit 10 Enemy heroes with a full duration of Fists of Fury.
Reward: Hitting an enemy with the Full channel of Fists of Fury causes the Final Hit to also Deal 15% of their max health as damage.

Power Strikes
Successful Autoattacks against enemy heroes restores 5 Energy. This is increased to 10 energy if the hero is affected by Way of the Shado-Pan.

Level 4



Stamina of the Black Ox
Quest!: Gathering a Regen Globe increases your energy regeneration by .2 energy per second, up to 4 energy per second.
Reward: After gathering 20 Regen Globes, increases your maximum energy by 40.

Relentless Strikes
Hitting an enemy affected by Way of the Shado-Pan with your abilities refunds 40% of their cost.
Fists of Fury only procs this once, on the final damage tick.

Energizing Elixer
Instantly gain 80 Energy over 4 Seconds
20 Energy per Second over the duration

Jade Serpent Style
Flying Serpent Kick now removes all snares and slows on you. Successfully removing a snare or slow increases your movement speed by 20% for 3 seconds upon landing.

Tiger's Lust
Removes snares and slows from target allied hero and gain 40% movement speed for 3 seconds.
Cost: 30 Energy
30 Second Cooldown

Jade Winds
Whirling Dragon Punch no longer interrupts your movements, and also deal 20% increased damage.



Heroic Choices



Level 13



Test of Resolve
Hitting an enemy hero affected by Way of the Shado-Pan with your abilities reduces the cooldown of Way of the Shado-Pan by 2 seconds.
Every Tick of Fists of Fury will Proc this cooldown reduction.
Maximum of 10 seconds off of cooldown; 50% of full cooldown can possibly be reduced


Test of Strength
Hitting an Enemy with the full channel of Fists of Fury stuns them for 2 seconds on the final strike.

Test of Spirit
If only one enemy is hit by the reactivation of Flying Serpent Kick, the damage and slow are increased by 100%.
Takedowns on enemy heroes also resets the cooldown of Flying Serpent Kick.

Level 16



Leg Sweep
If an enemy is marked by Way of the Shado-Pan, Whirling Dragon Punch will also stun them for 1.5 seconds

Spinning Crane Kick
If Whirling Dragon Punch successfully hits an enemy Hero, another free, talented cast of Whirling Dragon Punch will occur after a 1 second delay.

Dampen Harm
Activate to prevent taking more than 25% of your max health as damage in 1 second, for the next 4 seconds.
Allows Taran to only take 25% of his max health as damage at a time. Every second this refreshes and allows another 20% chunk of health to be taken away by incoming damage. Essentially prevents from being killed all at once, but doesn't typically prevent certain death.

Level 20



Fury of Xuen
Xuens consecutive attacks against a target increase his auto attacks damage by 10%, stacking indefinitely. Resets when Xuen attacks a new target.

What Goes Around...
You now redirect all damage you take from any enemy Heroes over 6 seconds. You redirect all damage stored at the target after 6 seconds.

Touch of Death
1 Minute Cooldown
Cost: 40 Energy
Instantly Deal 25% of the targets maximum health as damage. If this kills the target, refund 50% of the total cooldown.

Nexus Fists
Your auto attacks deal 20% more damage and slow the target for 20% for 1 second

This Hero concept was one of the first ones Ive made. After revisiting my original concept, I have updated it a little bit and began working on some talents. I will slowly work on the fully fleshed out talent tree over the next week, but for the most part his actual abilities are done. (This does not mean I wouldn't appreciate some feedback about them and criticism to help improve his kit.)

The only thing i am still trying to figure out is how to incorporate energy as a resource properly. I believe i have a solid start so far, but am open to ideas.
