The Nightborne Arcanist

Formerly the First Arcanist of Suramar, now the leader of the Nightborne race, Thalyssra has long fought oppression for the sake of a unified people. Whether against the armies of the Burning Legion or the dictatorship of the oppressive Grand Magistrix Elisande, Thalyssra fights for those who cannot fight themselves. A failed coup d'état exiled her and her followers, resigning them to the fate of all Nightborne cut off from Suramar's splendor - withered. In a race against time itself, Thalyssra found aid in fellow Azerothian elves, and companionship with the Sin'Dorei. Together, they restored the Nightfallen from their withered state with the Arcan'Dor, stormed the Nighthold, and took their lives back. Through a cordial alliance with the blood elves of Silvermoon, Thalyssra swears Suramar's allegiance to the Horde, seeking to reclaim her people's place in Azeroth.

Thalyssra is a powerful mage, her wisdom indicative of her many years mastering arcane energies. Nightborne are greatly attuned to the ancient mana coursing through Azeroth, and the worlds of the Nexus are no different. The more mana absorbed by Thalyssra with Leyline Feed, the greater her power becomes, altering her basic abilities in different ways. Arcane Barrage and Arcane Explosion both allow Thalyssra to deal a considerable amount of damage to multiple foes - the former at a remote location, and the latter damaging those willing to get close enough to the mage. Mana Blast grants a nuke option with crowd control, though its long channel in the early-game carries the risk of giving the enemy too much time to counterattack. Thalyssra's heroic options explore both a risky option that allows even more power to the Arcanist (provided those pesky enemy heroes don't force her away from the small location her Rune of Power covers), as well as a more utility-focused alternative that allows her to control the battlefield, effectively forcing the enemy team away from a particular area. A powerful teamfight presence, her spells are all oriented for flashy displays of power, wreaking havoc in large areas of the battlefield should she be allowed to remain in a safe space, and work her magic without interruption.

Leyline Feed
Passive: Thalyssra gains +4 maximum mana (+8 from level 10 onwards) whenever she picks up a regeneration globe or drinks from a healing fountain.

Primary Abilities

Arcane Barrage
Active: Launches arcane missiles toward a small target location, each dealing 24(+4%) damage and prioritizing heroes.

Amount of missiles launched is determined by Thalyssra's maximum mana, 2 missile per 100 mana.

Cost: 40 mana.
Cooldown: 6 seconds.

Arcane Explosion
Active: Deal 84(+4%) damage to surrounding enemies, slowing their movement by 20% for 3 seconds.

Cooldown is reduced by Thalyssra's maximum mana, 1 second per 100 mana.

Cost: 50 mana.
Cooldown: 10 seconds.

Mana Blast
Active: Channel for up to 3 seconds, before unleashing pure arcane energy in a line, dealing 64-214(+4%) damage to enemies caught in the blast, depending on time spent channeling Arcane Blast. A fully charged Mana Blast stuns enemies hit for 1 second. Cast Mana Blast again to end channel prematurely.

Channel duration is reduced by Thalyssra's maximum mana, .2 seconds per 100 mana.

Cost: 80 mana.
Cooldown: 12 seconds.

Heroic Abilities

Rune of Power
Active: Places a small rune on the ground at the target location. While standing on the rune, Thalyssra's abilities deal an additional 20% damage, and cost 20% less mana. Rune of Power lasts 6 seconds.

Cost: 75 mana.
Cooldown: 9 seconds.

Ward of the First Arcanist
Manipulate time itself in a large area at the target location for 6 seconds, slowing enemies that pass through its field by 30%. Enemies who remain within the field for 2 seconds will be stunned for 2 seconds.

Cost: 100 mana.
Cooldown: 90 seconds.

Level One Talents

Endless Thirst: Reduce the cooldown of the healing fountain by 45 seconds.
Reward: Upon gathering 20 regeneration globes, doubles the mana gained by Leyline Feed. Mana gained is not retroactive.

Charged Vessel: Increase Mana Blast

Level Four Talents

Erosion: Enemies hit by Mana Blast have their armor reduced by 25 for 2 seconds.

Amplification: Increase the cast range of Arcane Barrage by 75%.

On the Run: Thalyssra can move at 50% movement speed while channeling Mana Blast.

Level Seven Talents

Acceleration: Damaging an enemy hero with a spell increases your movement speed by 5% for 3 seconds, stacking up to 20%.

Deceleration: Each missile fired by Arcane Barrage slows its target by 5% for 3 seconds, stacking up to 25%

Glass Cannon: Increase spell power by 3% per 100 mana, but permanently increase damage taken by 20%.

Level Thirteen Talents

Reverberation: Each enemy hero hit by Arcane Explosion increases the damage of the next Arcane Explosion by 20%.

Arcane Tempest: Each enemy hero hit by Mana Blast reduces the cooldown of Mana Blast by 2 seconds.

Resonance: Each enemy hero hit by Arcane Barrage grants Thalyssra 5% maximum Mana for 5 seconds, up to 20%.

Level Sixteen Talents

Remote Arcanology: Arcane Explosion can now be cast on a target.

Coup d'etat: Hitting an enemy unit with two spells within 2 seconds roots them for 2 seconds.

Sigil of the Dusk Lily: Mark an enemy hero, accumulating an additional 10% of all damage dealt to them by Thalyssra over 6 seconds, before erupting to deal the accumulated damage to all nearby enemy units.

Level Twenty Talents

Runic Echoes: Rune of Power lasts 9 seconds. Allies may benefit from Rune of Power.

Time Dilation: Enemies within Ward of the First Arcanist lose 10 armor, and an additional 3 armor per second they remain.

Arcane Familiar: A familiar follows Thalyssra, increasing Thalyssra's maximum mana by 20%, and increasing the cost of all spells by 20%.

Arcane Blink: Activate to teleport a short distance and cast Arcane Explosion at your destination. 60 second cooldown.
