Talents
Tier 1 (Level 1) Talents 1.Block. Periodically reduces the damage received brom basic attacks by 50%. Stores up to 2 charges
2. High guardian. Reduce the mana cost of Valiant Protector by 20 Mana
3. Always watching. Reduce the cooldown of Vengeful Eye by 2 seconds
4. Thirst for Blood Increase the healing from Gladiators Strikes to 100%
Tier 2 (Level 4) Talents
1. Bound by honor Increase the damage absorb of Valiant protector to 30%
2. Flag of Leadership. Activate to place an Alliance flag on the ground (same range as healing ward). Friendly heroes and minions gain 20% damage and 15% health regeneration. Varian does not get the atrributes. 50 seconds cooldown
3. Spying eyes. When you use Vengeful Eye the area around the hero is revealed
4. Mercenary Lord Non boss mercenaires near your hero deal 50% more damage. Reduces damage taken from minions and mercenaires by 50%
Tier 3 (Level 7) Talents
1. Code of Gladiator After you use Gladiators Strikes the enemy hero has his movement speed reduced by 30%
2. Inspiring Figure. Increase the attributes of Royal Presence by 8%
3. Great responsibilities Decrease the cooldown of Valiant Protector by 2.5 seconds
4. Lord of the keep When you are near a keep it gains +40% ammo regeneration +10% resistance to damage
A good Concept for old Varian there are only 2 Things you should change, first of all is the Improved Mercenary Lord to a normal Mercenary Lord, or a Personal Variation of that Skill, and Second would be to change the Stats to the actual Concept, it always is sad to see a good concept to be old and unusable.
Very solid concept, with 3 minor changes - first of all, Gladiator's Strikes- this is a targeted stun with (minor) burst and a self-heal, all on a 4 second cooldown. If you want to keep it useable this often, I would change it to "your next basic attack hits 3 times and stuns" or something along those lines, so you aren't giving Varian an low-CD Hammer of Justice. Personally, I would also remove the self-heal and enable it as a talent (in which case you could bump it up to 100% heal).
The other thing I spotted was the Lord of the Keep talent. Usually the attack speed buff will only enable the Keep to clear minions faster, and the reload time is minor. Additionally, very rarely will you be hanging around underneath a Keep- they'll only be pushing a Keep if the majority of your team is dead, after all. I would either buff the talent in a major way (50% splash damage?), or make it a global ability to help counter the likes of Abathur or Zagara.
Last modification- Hardened Shield is usually 75% damage reduction... Is that what you meant?
Overall, really nice character concept, and I would love to see him in the Nexus. I'm especially loving the Ring of Honor ability- you could totally use that to lock down an objective... Or block melee Heroes off of your Core... Or keep them under a Keep... Or make your mages completely invincible for 7 seconds... The possibilities are endless.
No no you misunderstood the movement speed thing. I didnt said thaat he will 20% reduce movement speed. I said he will have 20% movement speed IF he has killed an allied minion or hero.
Mmmh. Maybe giving out what the vulnerability is? (It would probably be something like 10% damage from everyone and everything, but varian gets a 25% INSTEAD.)
I like the tweaks to it, although 20% movement speed for 6 seconds? Maybe 10% for 3-4?
Note that i'm only giving out suggestions here -- your concept, your choices. You may have forgot to add something that will make it all balanced/actually UP, or I may just not be seeing it play out right in a match, who knows?
Good concepts like this make me think Blizzard really should take some ideas from this concept list. Nice job! A few things ;
-Vengeful eye is NOT good enough. 15% extra damage toa hero for 2 seconds every 5 seconds, and to a single hero? Tyrande's trait does it better, so maybe buffing it to 25%? Maybe even going to 35%? Remember that the hero ONLY takes extra damage from Varian, So you're giving yourself a less good Tyrande's trait to one hero that only affects your damage. Or a butcher's trait with from 10% to 20% less damage bonus, with limited time, to a single hero.
-I would, personally, buff his passive's attack speed bonus to 14%, but that's just me... 8% attack speed isn't a ton.
