Varok Saurfang is a renowned orc warrior of the Blackrock clan. A decorated veteran of Azeroth’s First, Second, and Third great wars, Varok is an experienced fighter whose courage knows no bounds. Varok’s trait allows him to slam his iconic battle axe into the earth, disarming himself to take a stand with his team. Or, if disarmed he can wrench the axe from the earth after a short channel to ready himself for skirmishing. Varok is a warrior whose playstyle revolves around his trait, which shifts him between being a bruiser to a point control tank. This flexibility comes at a cost. Varok is low mobility, and it takes time for him to arm himself again after using his trait. To play Varok to his full potential, a player needs to take advantage of his trait and the window of power gained when using his trait to make a stand.

He is be strong on point control maps, or on maps like infernal shrines where the objective is stationary. His lack of mobility and slow recovery time cause him to suffer on larger maps or against compositions built around poke damage.

After a short wind-up, Varok disarms himself by slamming his battle axe into ground at the target location, dealing 200 (+4% per level) ability damage to nearby enemies. Using this ability causes Varok to become unarmed. While unarmed, Varok gains a different set of abilities, and attacks slightly faster.

After a 1.5 second channel, Varok rips his battle axe from the ground, slicing forward and damaging enemies hit. Using this ability causes Varok to become armed. While armed, Varok gains a different set of abilities, deals slightly more damage, and attacks slower.

A short ranged, targeted ability. Varok lunges a short distance, striking the first enemy hit with a fierce headbutt and stunning them for 1 sec.

Cooldown: 6 seconds

An extremely short ranged, targeted ability. Varok swings a mighty kick at a nearby target, dealing minor damage and launching them a short distance in a straight line. If the target strikes another enemy along their path, then the struck enemy will be stunned for a short duration.

(W) Battle Cry (Armed)

Cooldown: 8 seconds

A short ranged, AOE / skillshot hybrid. Varok projects a deafening battle cry affecting a wide arc directly in front of him. Enemies affected are slowed by 25%. Enemies in the center of the affect also have their armor lowered by 5 for 2.5 seconds.

Varok gains a shield that absorbs 200 damage for 2.5 seconds. Nearby allied heroes gain a shield for half the amount of Varok’s.

A short ranged AOE ability. Varok cleaves an arc in front of himself, dealing 115 damage to enemies hit, and healing himself for 10% of the damage dealt.

Varok’s basic attacks for the next 6 seconds slow enemies by 10%

Heroic Abilities

Stance Mastery (Passive)
Ready For War’s channel time is reduced by 1 second, and it’s cooldown is reduced by 10 seconds.

Charge (Passive)
Stand and Fight now stuns enemies hit for 1 second. Varok now gains 25 armor for 4 seconds after using Stand and Fight.

Varok gains 25% attack speed for 6 seconds after using Stand and Fight.


(E)Trained Fists:
Quest: Hit Heroes with Crushing Blows active
Reward: After hitting 30 heroes, the duration of crushing blows is extended by 2 seconds.


(D)For the Horde:
For each enemy hit with Stand and Fight, nearby allied heroes are healed for 1% of the attack damage they deal to their main target for 6 seconds.

(D)Excessive Force:
Increase the area of impact for Stand and Fight by 85%. If an enemy is hit by Stand and Fight then the channel time for Take Up Arms is decreased by .25 seconds and it does bonus damage.

(Q)Roundhouse Kick:
If an enemy targeted by Kick strikes another enemy, the target is now stunned as well.


(W)Call to Arms:
Rallying Cry now gives Varok and affected allies 10% movement speed for its duration.

Cooldown : 30 seconds
Nearby allies gain a shield equal to 25% of their maximum health for 3 seconds when Varok uses Stand and Fight.
