Velen

Prophet

Came across this site/page earlier and thought it may be fun, so decided to have a go!
Any thoughts/feedback appreciated. It would surely need some tuning-up anyway, so I welcome any tips as such. - preferably constructive :P
Cheers all and I look forward to seeing your own creations.

N.B. Any specific numbers for damage/healing output having been replaced by 'x' , as I didn't allow myself time to give any of these proper consideration to make them realistic etc. Apologies if it ruins any immersion haha.

Combat Trait

1
Contemplation (D)
Velen attempts to commune with the Naaru in search of guidance and wisdom. Over the next 8 seconds Velen channels Contemplation, increasing his health and mana regeneration by 300% for the duration. Successfully completing a cast will permanently increase healing and mana gained via a Healing Fountain by 5%, stacking up to 8 times. Any damage taken during the channel will interrupt the effect. Whilst channelling, and for 1 second after, Velen takes 50% increased damage from all sources.

Cooldown: 90 seconds

Quest: Successfully complete 8 full channels of Contemplation
Reward: Receive a further 10% healing and mana when using a Healing Fountain

Primary Abilities

1
Flash Heal (Q)
Heals the target ally for 'x'. If the target is affected by your Prayer of Mending, or has had Prayer of Mending within the previous 1.5 seconds, they will also receive 'x' extra healing from your Flash Heal over 6 seconds.

Cooldown: 5 seconds
2
Prayer of Mending (W)
Grants a target ally 20 armor for 4 seconds. If the target takes damage from an enemy Hero during this time the Prayer will jump to another allied hero within 7 yards and duration will be refreshed. Maximum 3 jumps. Cannot jump more than once per second.

Cast time: 0.5 seconds
Cooldown: 12 seconds
3
Power Word: Shield (E)
Grants the target a shield of holy energy, preventing 'x' damage. Lasts 4 seconds. Cooldown is reduced by 2 seconds if the entire shield is absorbed before expiration.
Absorption amount is doubled if cast on self.

Cooldown: 14 seconds

Heroic Abilities

1
Invoke the Naaru (R1)
Summon and place a Naaru anywhere within 7 yards of your location. The Naaru is untargetable and lasts for 5 seconds. Whilst remaining within 5 yards of the Naaru an ally is healed for 'x' every 0.5 seconds and granted Prayer of Mending. Enemy heroes are scorned by the Naaru, and have their damage dealt and healing received reduced by 15% whilst remaining within a 5 yard radius of the Naaru's location.

Cooldown: 120 seconds
2
Chosen (R2)
Empower an allied hero with the light, increasing damage dealt by 25%. The chosen ally is also effected by Guardian Angel. Lasts 10 seconds.

Guardian Angel - if a hero dies whilst under the effect of Guardian Angel, their death timer is reduced by 50%.

Cast time: 0.5 seconds
Cooldown: 90 seconds

Talents

Level 1:
Penance (Q):
Fire 3 holy bolts at a target ally each healing for 'x'. Penance can also be cast on an enemy target dealing an equal amount in damage. This damage heals Velen and his allies within 7 yards for 25% of damage done.
- Damage done by Penance does not trigger heal over time effects from Prayer of Mending.
- Effects reduced by 80% vs structures.
- Replaces Flash Heal.

Controlled Chaos (E):
Power Word: Shield becomes Controlled Chaos, absorbing 50% less damage but can now be cast on enemies. When an enemy is afflicted by Controlled Chaos they take 'x' damage over 4 seconds. The shield also absorbs healing on the enemy target equal to its original value.
- Replaces Power Word: Shield

Mind Flay:
Basic attack is now a channelled cast. Enemies near the target are seared for 50% damage.
Increases range of Velen's basic attacks and abilities by 1.1.

Level 4:
Any healing?! ... oh wait (Q):
Increases base healing of Flash Heal by 20%. Casting Flash Heal on the same target again within 8 seconds increases the healing received by a further 10%. Stacks up to 2 times.
- Penance deals 20% increased base damage. Casting Penance on the same target again within 8 seconds increases the damage by a further 10%. Stacks up to 2 times.

Probably a Bad Idea:
Increases Velen's maximum mana permanently by 10%, but reduces maximum health by 10%.

Ease the Pressure (W):
Quest: Reduce damage taken on allied heroes by Prayer Of Mending 15/30 times.
Reward(15): Increase maximum jumps for Prayer of Mending to 4.
Reward(30): Increase maximum jumps for Prayer of Mending to 5, and armor bonuses from Prayer of Mending persist for 2 seconds after jumping to an ally.

Level 7:
I Provide: Knowledge (Q):
Reduce mana cost of Flash Heal by 15.

I Provide: Momentum (E):
Heroes affected by Power Word: Shield gain 20% movement speed for 3 seconds.
- Controlled Chaos cast on an enemy Hero slows by 20% for 3 seconds.

I Provide: An Escape :
Allows Velen to cast Purify.
Purify: Activate to make target ally Unstoppable for 1 second. Cannot be cast on yourself.

Cooldown: 60 seconds

Level 10:
- Heroic abilities stated above -

Level 13:
United We Stand (Q):
Increases healing of Flash heal by 8% for every ally within 5 yards of Velen when cast.
- Damaging enemy heroes with Penance now causes allies to heal for 40% of the damage done (up from 25%).

We. Are. EREDAR!(W):
Increase the armor bonus from Prayer of Mending to 25 and reduce the spell's cooldown to 8 seconds.

From the Void:
Summons a Shadowfiend from the void. Shadowfiends are 'protected' and attack the nearest enemy for 'x' damage every 0.33 seconds. Each attack restores 1% of Velen's maximum mana.
- Shadowfiends can be targeted by Velen's Penance talent. If Penance and Shadowfiend collide, the opposing forces cause an explosion dealing 'x' damage to enemies within 3 yards of the impact point. Lasts 8 seconds.

Cooldown: 45 seconds

Level 16:
Bound By Fate (Q):
Casting Flash Heal on an ally will also heal another nearby ally for 50% of the healing done.

Exarch (W):
Prayer of Mending gains a second charge. Prayer of Mending's cooldown replenishes both charges at the same time.

The Light Shall Endure (E):
Power Word: Shield grants Protected to the target ally, negating all damage taken for the first 1.5 seconds of its duration.
- Controlled Chaos healing absorption increased by 50% on enemy hero.

Level 20:
Help! They are Legion! (R1):
Invoke The Naaru lasts an additional 2 seconds, and the Naaru's healing is increased by 50% so long as Velen remains within 3 yards.

It's Prophecy (R2):
Chosen increases damage dealt by a further 10%. In addition, the cooldown of Chosen is reduced to 70 seconds.

Void Eruption (R2):
Chosen can now only be cast on self. When cast, Velen enters voidform increasing his armor by 50 and damage dealt by 150%, decaying by 10% per second. Velen cannot cast abilities onto allies for the duration. Lasts 15 seconds.
- During Void Eruption your Prayer of Mending is replaced by Void Bolt, dealing 'x' damage to a nearby enemy hero and increasing their damage taken from Void Bolt by 20% for 3 seconds. Stacks indefinitely. Void bolt deals 20% of original value as damage to enemies within 2 yards of the enemy hero hit.

Void Bolt cast time: immediate
Void Bolt cooldown: 1 second
Void Bolt mana cost: 0

Argus' Last Stand
Velen and allies within 7 yards are each healed for 50% of their missing health, and shielded for 50% of the amount healed. Lasts 3 seconds.

Cast time: 1 second
Cooldown: 90 seconds

Description

The Prophet Velen is a versatile hero with a wide toolkit. Whilst primarily serving as a support, Velen is able to navigate into shielding or damage - whatever your team requires.

Based on the World of Warcraft priest specs, Velen can serve in a number of imaginative roles and adapt to different environments. Early talents such as Penance allow for healing to be interpreted through damage, much like the role of the Discipline Priest of WoW today. As such, some teams may feel comfortable taking Velen as a semi-assassin - bridging a gap if a team feels they have excess support potential already but need a little extra push to get the takedowns. There are many Shadow spec alternatives to further push the envelope, with talents like Void Eruption and the (newly imagined) Controlled Chaos to punish any enemy hero that dares step too far forward or finds themselves isolated from their support(s).

Due to the multitude of options available, Velen can be considered a hero for players of a range of skill levels. Players who simply want to wield Velen as a standardised backline support have the option to do so, as many of the Prayer of Mending (W) talents enable more throughput and sustainability without having to consider a platitude of extra buttons and cooldowns to muddy the waters for you. Consider this the typical Holy Priest style - you're there to prevent death and nothing more.

Due to (intended in theory) high mana costs for abilities, Velen tends to suffer in longer fights where his mana pool dries up quickly. Consider this hero instead for a comp that has alot of burst damage, able to get picks on the enemy team as quickly as possible to navigate your mana woes. Equally, try and avoid this hero vs teams that have easier access to your backline, or stealth heroes that can burst Velen down quickly due to his lack of escape and scouting potential. Be sure to maximise use of your trait (D) Contemplation as this will help assist you with your inevitably empty mana bar. Be mindful of when to use it however, as the cooldown is long and you can be picked by the enemy team even quicker than usual whilst channeling.

Strengths
Versatile
Decent healing output
A safe bet for beginners (optional)

Weaknesses
Squishy - can be killed easily if out of position
Hard to master - multiple builds
Lacking in hard crowd control
(intended) Mana issues due to expensive spell costs
