Zenyatta is an omnic monk who wanders the world in search of spiritual enlightenment. It is said that those who cross his path are never the same again.

Contemplate
While neither Orb of Harmony nor Orb of Discord are active, gain a shield based on 30% of your maximum health.

*The shield rapidly regenerates back as long as neither Orb of Harmony nor Orbs of Discord are active.

Primary Abilities

Orb Volley
Channel for 3 seconds, Launch 1 to 5 (depending on channeling time) orbs at the target direction, each dealing 90 (+4% per level) damage to the first enemy unit hit.

Mana: 30
Cooldown: 5 seconds

*While channeling, you can move but you cannot turn around.
*Reactivate the ability to end channeling early.

Orb of Harmony
Attach an orb to the target allied hero that heals them by 95 (+4% per level) health per second. The orb can be redirected to another allied hero while it is active. The orb returns by getting too far from the target allied hero or by reactivating the ability on self.

Mana: 20 per second
Cooldown: No cooldown

*Orb of Harmony drains no mana if the target ally is at full health.

Orb of Discord
Attach an orb to the target enemy hero that reduces their armor by 15. The orb can be redirected to another enemy hero while it is active. The orb returns by getting too far from the target enemy hero or by reactivating the ability on self.

Mana: 20 per second
Cooldown: No cooldown

Heroic Abilities

Transcendence
Become Invulnerable, gain 50% movement speed and start healing all nearby allies by 340 (+4% per level) health per second. Once activated, current Orb of Harmony and Orb of Discord will be retrieved. Lasts 4 seconds.

Mana: 100
Cooldown: 80 seconds

*During Transcendence, you cannot use basic attacks nor abilities.

Dissonance
Become Protected, gain 40% movement speed and start damaging all nearby enemies by 150 (+4% per level) damage per second. Once activated, current Orb of Harmony and Orb of Discord will be retrieved. Lasts 4 seconds.

Mana: 100
Cooldown: 80 seconds

*During Dissonance, you cannot use basic attack nor abilities.

Talents level 1:

True Self (Trait):
Increase the percentage shield of Contemplate to 40%.
Levitation (Passive):
Passively gain 10% movement speed and increase your mount movement speed by 20%.
Iris' Precision (Q):
Reduce the full channeling time of Orb Volley by 0.5 seconds and increase the projectile speed by 10%.

Talents level 4:

Artificial Intellect (Trait):
While Contemplate is active, your mana regenerates 60% faster and Orb Volley cost 10 less mana.
Quest: Destruction (Q):
Each enemy hero hit with Orb Volley increases the damage of the next Orb Volley by 20%. Can be increased up to 100%. This bonus is lost if Orb Volley fails to hit an enemy.
Chaos Plague (E):
Hitting an enemy hero with Orb of Discord on them deals an additional 2% of maximum health as damage.

Talents level 7:

Free Mind (W):
Increase the healing of Orb of Harmony by 60% if the target allied hero is stunned, slowed or rooted.
Reborn (W):
Orb of Harmony's healing is increased by 40% on allies with less than 50% health.
Vampiric Gaze (W):
Orb of Harmony grants 20% spell lifesteal to the target allied hero. But the mana cost of Orb of Harmony gets increased by 10.

Talents level 13:

Tranquility (Trait):
While Contemplate is active, gain 15% movement speed. This bonus is lost if the shield is not regenerating.
Iris' Perspective (Q):
Hitting enemy heroes with a fully charged Orb Volley reveals and slows them by 30% for 5 seconds.
Soul Sap (E):
Hitting an enemy with Orb of Discord on them heals you equal to 20% of the damage dealt. Allied heroes can also heal themselves by damaging enemy heroes affected by Orb of Discord.

Talents level 16:

Strike at Weakness (Q):
Fully charged Orb Volley deals an additional 6% damage based on the target's maximum health if all orbs hit the same enemy hero.
Walking in Harmony (W):
Increase the maximum range of Orb of Harmony by 30%. Orb of Harmony grants the target allied hero 50% increased Attack Speed. This bonus is increased to 75% if Orb of Discord isn't active.
Darkness Falls (E):
Increase the Armor reduction of Orb of Discord to 20. Additionally, enemy heroes with Orb of Discord on them are revealed and have their Spell Power reduced by 40% as long as Orb of Discord is on them.

Talents level 20:

Iris' Light (Heroic R):
Transcendence's healing is increased by 20% per each allied hero nearby.
Hateful Chaos (Heroic R):
Dissonance applies an untalented Orb of Discord on all nearby enemy heroes for the duration. Once Dissonance is over, all Orbs of Discord are retrieved.
Overflow (Trait):
Contemplate no longer requires Orb of Harmony and Orb of Discord to be inactive. But adds a 1 second cooldown to Inner Peace.
One With The Universe (Active):
Target an allied hero to make them Protected for 5 seconds. During this time, any healing or damage that the target allied hero receives is delayed. Any healing they receive during this time (healing fountain and regen globes excluded) is also doubled. Cannot be used on Zenyatta and has 80 seconds cooldown.

Counters and Matchups:

Bad against:

Illidan: Evade allows Illidan to avoid getting hit by basic attacks and since Zenyatta has no damaging abilities besides Dissonance, this is a bad matchup for him.
Blaze: Pyromania grants so much Armor that even with Orb of Discord it's too much.
Samuro: Mirror Image does not only make it harder for Zenyatta to use Orb of Discord on the right target, but it also allows Samuro to kill Zenyatta easily.

Others:
-Heroes that can evade basic attacks.
-Heroes with too much Armor.
-Heroes that can mess with target management.

Good Against:

Li-Ming: Thanks to her low health and all abilities being skillshots (if Zenyatta is evasive enough), Orb of Discord can make her survivability much weaker.
Genju: Genji's damage can be quite outhealed with Orb of Harmony (if played safe). He is also quite vulnerable without Deflect.
Murky: His low health is enough to make him vulnerable against Zenyatta, even without Orb of Discord.

Others:
-Heroes with low health.
-Heroes that rely on a certain ability to survive.

Works well with:

Tracer: Orb of Discord allows Tracer to deal way more damage against a certain enemy hero.
Tyrael: Orb of Harmony allows Tyrael to survive more in fights. Additionally, Righteousness's shield gives more survivability to Zenyatta.

Others:
-Heroes that can benefit a lot from armor reduction.
-Heroes that can give shields to allies.

Tips and Gameplay:

Playing as Zenyatta:


Zenyatta is a healer who has lower healing than most healers in exchange of higher damage than most of them and weakening enemies actively. Zenyatta should also be played in a safe position as he is extremely vulnerable due to his low health pool and lacking any sort of mobility or defensive ability in amongst his primary abilities. Target management is the core gameplay of Zenyatta. Try prioritizing allies with lower health with your Orb of Harmony and enemies with more durability with Orb of Discord.

Playing against Zenyatta:


When playing against Zenyatta, try to focus on him first before attacking his other allied heroes. While he can't really make his allies deadly since his healing is not much, he can still weaken enemies impactfully.
