We're coming at you with another update! This round we took a hard look at the guide filters and decided to make some changes.

Guides vs Builds

One of the biggest changes to the guide browsing experience is the new Guides vs Builds distinction. Essentially, to be considered a "Guide" by the filter your guide will need to have 2500 characters or more, including BBCode. Note this is characters not words so it's probably not as much as you think.

On the guide browse page it will filter for Guides only by default, but can be set to filter for Builds or Any guides.

We feel like this change will help with complaints we got that the new / updated guides list was flooded with builds, making it hard to find quality guides.

Users who want to make builds to share with friends can still do that no problem! Just link them to your build.

Needless to say, circumventing the character limit with useless text is against the rules. The majority of your guide text needs to be about playing the game. Users found to be breaking this rule will have their guides force-archived.

New Language Filters

You'll also notice new language filter options and indicators in our guide browse page. These language filters will help users find guides in their native language. Heroes has such a diverse playerbase, we think this will really help everyone feel welcome!

Here are the language options we currently have:

• English
• German (DE - Deutsch)
• Spanish (ES- Español)
• Polish (PL - Polski)
• French (FR - Français)
• Russian (RU - Русский)
• Italian (IT - Italiano)

You can find these options in the edit guide page, on the right in Guide Settings.

Map Filters Removed

Our last announcement is that the map filters / icons have been removed from our guide and browse pages. We found that the vast majority of users were not using them (either ticking all of them, or ticking none of them). This made the filter option not very useful.

This is why we decided to remove them and make room for other filters.
