The Heroes of the Storm Technical Alpha is now live and the time has come for invitees to answer the call of the Nexus!
We’ve invited a limited amount of US-based players, including testers opted-in via Battle.net, friends and family members of Blizzard employees, as well as a number of international press sites and community contributors, to participate in this very early Technical Alpha testing phase. If you haven’t received an invitation to the Tech Alpha yet, make sure you’ve elected to participate in Heroes of the Storm testing by opting in on your Battle.net account’s Beta Profile Settings page. By doing so, you’ll give yourself the best chance at gaining testing access as our needs evolve and we expand the pool of invited players in the weeks and months to come.
If you’d like to know more about the Technical Alpha, our goals during this very early stage of testing, or how we’ll be rolling out invites, you can head here or check out our FAQ to get all the details.

Getting Started
Now that you’re done installing the game, you’re probably chomping at the bit to pick your first hero and square off against other players. Check out this walkthrough video to find out everything you need to know about the Heroes client and how to fire up your very first game. Once you’re finished, you’ll be ready to start smashing towers and taking down enemy heroes.
Let’s Chat
We just unveiled our brand new Heroes of the Storm discussion forums so that those of you who wish to chat the day away can discuss the game with other players to your hearts’ content, tell everyone about your live stream, or share your beautiful art with other creative minds.
Additionally, your feedback and suggestions will prove invaluable as we continue to level-up all aspects of the game during this, and future testing phases. We’ve added several new forums that players who have access to Heroes of the Storm testing can use to share their thoughts with us, as well as each other. We’re excited to find out how you’re enjoying the game thus far, so journey over to the Technical Alpha Discussion forums, write up your feedback, and kick off a new conversation.
Remember, This Is a Test!
As you play, level-up, and unlock new content please keep in mind that we will be performing several scheduled account wipes when we reach new phases of testing. When an account wipe takes place, any experience you've gained, as well as any heroes, skins, and mounts you've unlocked, will be reset as though you're starting a fresh account. Don't panic! You'll receive a Battle.net Balance credit for any real money you’ve spent. Please also bear in mind that there will be a $325.00 USD (United States Dollar) cap on all purchases until the next account wipe. Check out our recent progression system blog if you’d like to know more about leveling, gold, and quests.
Keep an eye on HeroesoftheStorm.com, follow @BlizzHeroes on Twitter, and Like Heroes of the Storm on Facebook to keep up with all the latest news as it is announced. We hope that those of you who are able to participate in Tech Alpha testing during this phase have as much fun playing the game as we’ve had creating it. Now, what are you waiting for? Fire up Heroes of the Storm, recruit a few teammates in chat, and let the battle begin!
Unfortunately for me I hadn't received an Alpha invite, from what I've heard so far though it takes a lot to actually get to the point where you can play versus other players with actual freedom (being able to choose your talents at will). A little confused on why Blizzard would allow you to make in game purchases within the Alpha and then take them away, in that sense why not allow all users to make purchases for free for testing purposes before removing certain aspects instead of refunding your cash into your blizzard account limiting you to spending the cash on their resources and possibly removing an aspect you specifically added cash for.
