DONT JUST COPY THE ABOVE BUILD. Read why it works and how to use it.
Preface
Naming this guide "The only viable Rehgar Build" was kind of a joke because it's the opposite of how everyone wants to play him right now, but it works REALLY well. I find people complaining about Rehgar and I think it's because they want to play him full heal spec so badly. I think the low win rates with this type of spec are due to the fact that they aren't trading correctly, it takes a little practice. Also some of the abilities you take are the initial low level hero ones so I think a lot of people taking them statistically have just acquired Rehgar. I've found it to be considerably more effective than the alternatives and I list why. Healer Rehgar's Abilities are good on paper but the damage you give up and occasional focus you no longer take makes your team lose games. Even tanks can't support all the burst this game has against a bursty team and you still provide plenty of healing without putting points into it because the healing points really aren't that great in the first place. Please hit me up if you want to play or you have any suggestions, I would love to talk shop or modify the guide with any problems or suggestions you guys may have.
Not accurate Maths
In short, all these little attack empowering abilities on their own are mediocre, but he's got so many that when you stack them all, he does Godlike damage, and can out-trade everyone.
300 Base Attack @ Level 30.
1st Attack + 200% Feral Lunge + 50% Focused Attack
All Attacks + 25% empowering charge + 50% searing attacks
Attack Speed 1.25 (was this nerfed I swear it was 1.5) Attack speed per second + 40% bloodlust + 40% berserk
Chase/Mobility +30% Movement Speed Bloodlust, 10% from Berserk. Ability to mount on the fly and dash from Feral Lunge. Slow Enemies by 35% Earthbind Totem.
Bearing the above in mind, under the right conditions your first attack can do over 1k damage with each additional doing over 500. Your attack speed is well over 2 attacks per second and with
feral lunge you will dash to the enemy in
ghost wolf, and immediately lay down
earthbind so you can stick to them. Wow, what does Rehgar NOT have?
Lightning shield's AOE (aside from the Empowering Charge upgrade) is gravy for engages and minion pushing. Typically you will get 4 attacks in before they get spooked and run (that's around 2500 damage). If they are squishy they are dead already, if not they will begin to run. At this time you can ghost wolf again and dash for another huge hit usually killing them. If not you will still be able to chase them down and throw in a few heals to keep your life up. See now why you build him this way?
A note about trading
Always always use your
ghost wolf when it's up. The Attack boost from the next attack is critical to winning trades. The dash you get when you spec
feral lunge is critical to sticking to them. ALWAYS hammer z as you trade!!! Make sure to keep your Lightning shield up as well. Only use it on an ally if you are not about to trade, and they are a big hitter (IE Zeratul) going in... and it's early game. Otherwise, after you've chosen a few talents and gained a few levels your auto attacks (surprisingly) are pretty beefy and it's worth buffing yourself instead if you are in the position to be aggressive (which you should be).
Talents In Depth
Talent Calculator for reference

Level 1
Empowering Charge is great. Don't listen to the healing totem salesman. Healing totem has a large cool down and this game seems to be very burst damage based... and Empowering charge helps you push waves, and stacks nicely with the other damage & AS modifiers. If you get Searing totem as you tier 3 the damage goes together well and if you get earth shield you have two buffs attached to your lightning shield, so either way Empowering charge is good with your Tier 3 ability. It sounds weak on paper, but try it out...it's somehow better than it sounds. One thing about getting healing totem that is interesting is if you have a comp with Tassadar, an assassin or two, and a tank, and you and Tassadar both drop a healing totem and you bloodlust... Good stuff happens. I think having two healing totems in a teamfight is a lot more noticeable for whatever reason and that's one exception I might consider it for. You need to have a T*** and a coordinated team for that though.
Level 4
I like
Focused Attack, since you are slinking around in ghost wolf before you go in you will often get it up for the 50% damage, and at the same time the Feral Lunge for 100% damage. The unexpected hit of both of those buffs together often spooks them immediately or even finishes a low opponent that got cocky. Also since you have two attack speed buffs in this build, you reduce the cool down of focused attack pretty quickly unlike some other heroes.
Optionally
Reactive Spark is fairly useful for timing because it's hard to have lightning shield up before you ghost wolf otherwise. Many times without Reactive Spark, you will need to cast your Lightning Shield after you lunge out of Ghost Wolf, thus not hitting the perfect damage numbers (doh). A little weird to use when minions are near you though (works better in the jungle where you can not trigger it on accident) which is why I tend to take the damage over the utility.
Level 7
Searing Attacks and
Earth Shield shield are both really good. I'm constantly going back and forth between which I want to get. I just cant decide which I like more. If you're not getting bursted too much in teamfights searing attacks is the way to go because the cooldown is so short you pretty much have the extra damage for every fight and every time you want to push a building over. It also stacks really well with bloodlust and berserk. That said earth shield is really one of the few options you have if you're getting focused a lot.
Level 10
Bloodlust, Bloodlust, Bloodlust. This build is all about stacking all your damage modifiers. Forget the heal exists. This is core and it's super crazy if you are paired with an assassin when you pop it.
Level 13
Feral Lunge is the
most useful ability in your kit. I cringe every time I see a Rehgar not choose it. I wish they would just make it part of his kit so that you didn't have to forego a whole talent level of options and I would take it with any build (even if you are messing around with the not viable healer spec) just for the awesome dash. It helps you stick to people (even if it's just to lay down an Earthbind so your ally can kill them) it helps you dash to the edge of a fight so they focus someone else. The 100% damage boost on the next attack is gravy. As I said before always hammer your mount bind when engaging, foregoing this ability is what makes Rehgar seem mediocre and what changed everything for me with him.
Level 16
Berserk is like a mini bloodlust that always seems to be up and when you use them together HOLY MOLY, you can take down buildings in seconds.
Blood for Blood can be useful if you're getting popped a lot. Honestly I would rather trade out one of the other alternates than Berserk though. Once in a while it's an appropriate choice.
Earthgrasp is super cool but I wish it was in a different tree. I find id rather kill them immediately with the other two than try to CC them even more than I already am. A lot of people take Earthgrasp, but I would advice you not take it.
Level 20
Now Gladiator's War Shout is super cool. Bloodlust on the whole map can really get things pushing especially if you are on the map where the enemy team is cursed. It can also make you useful for a teamfight you can't get to in time. That said, it doesn't really make a difference on your own damage output. The goal of this whole build is making you the wrecking force.
Storm Shield is another one of those ones you can swap out if your team is getting blown up a lot. Especially if you have more than one tanky person on your team (since it's %health based).
Additional Talent thoughts
Overall I've offered a few optional talents to spec into, but you have to realize that each damage modifier you forego really hurts your damage output since your goal here is to stack them. I tend to take the most appropriate optional one, so do some critical thinking about your team, the enemies, which skill you're giving up, and when the best time to give one up is. If you can wait until late game and just give up the global bloodlust, you might do better. Conversely if your early game is rough and you don't want to get behind by constantly being dead, you might give up the earlier one. If you're obliterating them, don't give up anything and watch them ragequit when they keep going in on you thinking lets kill the healer, and paying the price for their arrogance.
If you read the whole guide you should have figured out the combo in your head but just for reference lightning shield yourself if you can, ghost wolf, lunge at them, (lightning shield now if you didn't before), drop an earthbind, auto attack until the move, heal if you need to, rinse and repeat. They cannot get away, they cannot out DPS you. Rehgar rules! Try to also use your wolf lunges to juke them in teamfights especially vs someone like Jaina that slows you with her ice bolt. Sometimes with his fast walking, enemy slowing insta mounting playstyle you can juke around abilities pretty easily. Hopefully in the future we can see his healing spec improved so we have more viable options. Please let me know if you have any questions or want to argue a point before you downvote. I will certainly talk shop with you. All I know is I usually put out a ton of damage (sometimes the most), have very few deaths, and still maintain a respectable amount of healing with this build. It sounds funky at first glance, but it works every time. Give it a try. GLHF.
PS, Make sure to get his Master Skin because it definitely probably maybe makes him hit people harder.
