Introduction

Wanting a fresh new hero? Never played before? Just liking winning? Well my friend Sonya is the hero for you.

Simple point and move play style, most processes can even be automated so you don't even have to play!! In a personal interview Blizzard staff said;
Quoted:
Yeah we were wanting to make a character that could walk straight to core uncontested by 5 minutes, and then Sonya was born.

Being a barbarian from the ****-you tribe, Sonya has the passive trait to ignore all damage taken as well as the ability to instant kill any character upon contact. According to lore, Sonya grew up eating swords for every meal and maimed her first victim at the age of 4!! (12.5 years earlier than your average hero) By age 7 she became too dangerous to keep in the village, considering their numbers had already been halved, so she wandered the hills murdering everything she saw.

Eventually this was not enough to satisfy her. Sonya had killed so much that she had to travel for miles before she was able to find signs of life, and that was when she discovered the nexus. With the ability to resurrect all who enter Sonya finally discover what she now calls "Heaven".

Tips & Tricks

Playing With:

  • Engage:

This is the best way to activate your instant death skill as it proves to be slightly more difficult from long distances. As a bonus to this play style if any of the players on the other team have played with or against a Sonya they will most likely retreat upon sight (which, as explained later, does very little for their survival)
  • Button Mash:

After a few years of play I have discovered that Sonya actually has abilities much like the other heroes. Although after much testing these "moves" appear to be purely for aesthetics purposes.

Playing Against:

Surprisingly there are a number of strategies one can employ to deal with Sonya. Even though they vary in effectiveness some actually work quite well.
  • Disengage:

This is the least effective maneuver, however; She will on occasion show mercy to cherish the kill for later it is not wise to assume this will save you.
  • Cry:

Once your eyes have filled up with tears it becomes quite difficult to see the screen and your anguish is subdued substantially. (Pro Tip: If you wail loud enough you actually wont be able to hear the stream of suffering.)
  • Rage Quit:

I have found this to be by far the best was to deal with the beast. In the end your team will understand if you abandon them and will likely do the same, no human should have to be put through the pain and torment of the God-Slaying, Immortal, Ruler of Evil, Wandering Death Machine that is Sonya.

The Double

If you are one of the most unfortunate souls to play Sonya and face a team with a Sonya beware that committing to a confrontation of that caliber could last until the sun itself fades. (This is of course excluding if you have an Abathur with you.)

Conclusion

Congratulations to those of you who managed to make it this far and not give up on life! Thanks for reading and remember rage quit is just a click away :)

*The heroes have been moved to threat level 2 to save space on the page. Worry not though they pose no actually challenge.
