Short introduction Top
My name is Douglas but I prefer the name DonkeyMonkey playing Blizzards Games (especially HotS). I play a handfuls of games but in the end it when they ask me what I like the most it always starts with H and O and T and S. Also I like to play World of Warcraft with my little Gnomey Outlaw Rogue, however we are now gonna focus on HotS...
I am mostly playing the Support role but I can also do the Warriors pretty well. Today we are gonna focus on
Brightwing who's a pretty awesome healer (if built a certain way) with high mobility because of both of her "mount":
Phase Shift and the Heroic:
Blink Heal.
Personally along with
Rehgar and
Kharazim she is one of the three best Supports in the game. Enough talking lets go!
Before we start Top
Everything written underneath is based on the first build, Shield, Heal 'n' Spam with high Mobility. The other builds (2-6) was written more for fun. However the dmg might come in more handy than the others since quick matching sometimes is a b**** and match you up with another support. Haven't we all been through that....
Soothing Mist
Cooldown: 4 seconds
"Brightwing heals nearby allied Heroes for 211 (100 + 4% per level) every 4 seconds".
This trait is awesome. No manacost, automatically activating and not having to really mind it: It just heals. Pure amazingly f**king awesome
Basic Abilities Top
Q
Arcane Flare
50 Mana Cooldown: 8 seconds
"Deal 301 (143 + 4% per level) damage in a small area and 200 (95 + 4% per level) damage in a larger area".
Not really much to say... Your only dmgdealing ability (without talentpicks). Use it to take mercenaries and minions and if you get a chance take it on enemy heroes. If you picked
Bribe at lv 1 then of course use it to kill minions as fast as possible.
W
Polymorph
75 Mana Cooldown: 15 seconds
"Target is slowed by 20% Movement Speed, and cannot attack and is Silenced making them unable to use Abilities for 1.5 seconds".
Use it on the enemy in a team fight or just a 1v1 or 2v2 to make sure that you slow them and make them unable of using their abilities to secure some safety. Combine it with
Pixie Dust and you can make one of your front liners reach an enemy trying to flee from battle
E
Pixie Dust
60 Mana Cooldown: 10 seconds
"Increase targets Movement Speed by 20% and grants 2 charges of Block. Lasts 4 seconds".
This ability can be the difference between an enemy or an allied kill. Two blocks, a bit movement speed. If an ally is fleeing with low HP use this to give them the move speed to get away. If the enemy gets close up anyway the target will have 2 basic attackblocks to keep them in the fight just a little longer. Can also be used to chase down an enemy or increase your movementspeed when you are close to the ally u wanna help and don't want to waste a
Phase Shift
Note:
Remember that all abilities (not trait just Q,W n E) affects minions if you in some way would wanna give them a little shot of block, speed or (if enemy polymorth). Arcane Flare does AoE dmg so that affecting minions isn't as mind blowing, lol
Heroic Abilities Top
R (if chosen at lv 10)
Blink Heal
40 Mana Cooldown: 10 seconds
"Teleport to a nearby ally, healing them for 447 (213 + 4% per level). Can store 2 charges".
Really a great talent to heal with. The short cooldown makes your mobility in a fight amazing. You can stay in middle of the front- and back liners to get your trait healing out and then use
Blink heal to one of the front taking dmg. Get some
Polymorph and
Arcane Flare on and then
Blink Heal back to the back liners! Easy! Effectively used on a low hp melee assassin like
Illidan.
R (if chosen at lv 10)
Emerald Wind
90 Mana Cooldown: 60 seconds
"Create an expanding nova of wind, dealing 699 (332 + 4% per level) damage and pushing enemies away".
Since we try building her like a support damage output isn't really what we are going for. However the talent is good if you are matched up with another support when just searching a random quick match (god I hate the matching system sometimes...)
"Mount" Top
Phase Shift
Cooldown: 45 seconds
This ability lets you teleport to an allied hero anywhere one the battlefield. It has a relatively short cast time and can really boost your mobility. Choosing some talents can make it reveal an area, give a shield or recharge faster when you heal with your trait. It's actually a really good ability and the fact that she can't use a mount does not really matter. Along with lv 16 talent
Hardened Focus and lv 1 talent
Hyper Shift you can basically be anywhere on the battlefield.
In early game it's important to soak a lot to gain a level advantage. With Phase Shift
Brgihtwing can soak lanes much more only needing to teleport to allies when a teamfight occurs. When others need to mount, rotate and engage you only have to press Z select a target and youre there. This is also great ability to have if u went for Bribe
Talentpicks - Main (first) build Top
Tier 1 (lv 1)
Brightwing Choose - HYPER SHIFT
Healing to recharge your "mount" faster. You are a support... You're supposed to heal! All you have to do is make sure that you heal, and you will basically increase your mobility greatly.
Tier 2 (lv 4)
Brightwing Choose - MANIC PIXIE
This lets you heal more to heroes who have a
Pixie Dust currently placed on themselves. This can be the savior in either the early, mid or even the late game. When an ally is fleeing from battle with a really low hp u should by reflex place a Pixie Dust on them. Letting them get increased heal during they have the Dust on themselves might be what gets them through the gate or just out of range without dying.
Tier 3 (lv 7)
Brightwing Choose - PHASE SHIELD
Your target of Phase Shift gains a massive shield upon your arrival. Predicting who will take the most damage during the team fight is key to using this ability. If you for example see an assassin and a warrior who are engaging a smaller fight. Then your target should be the assassin. Always aim for the person with the lowest hp. If they all have a full (or nearly full) hp aim for the person with the lowest sustain (
,
,
etc (not
E.T.C))
Tier 4 (lv 10) It is time for the Heroic!
Brightwing Choose - BLINK HEAL
Even tho the ability actually puts you into the danger of the fight by either teleporting to the front liners it's a great ability. The one thing Brightwing lacks is targetable healing.
Soothing Mist can be hard to heal against burst damage and blink heal can really help against it. Since it has two charges you can easily blink and give some heals and a
Polymorph and then blink back to the ranged champs. Doing this effectively alongside good
Pixie Dusts and
Soothing Mists can keep your team alive for a long time. Just watch your mana!
Tier 5 (lv 13)
Brightwing Choose - PIXIE BOOST or SHIELD DUST
Pixie Boost gives extra movement speed and
Shield Dust gives more blocks. Take the first one if you have many allies who have a lot of problems of getting away in time, but have good sustain, to give them the extra speed. Take the second if your allies needs more sustain in battle and have many abilities to increase speed on their own. Knowing all heroes abilities and seeing when they're used is what should make you decide here.
Tier 6 (lv 16)
Brightening Choose - HARDENED FOCUS
Hardened Focus can be picked up at lvl 16 and is, according to me, a hell of an awesome talent. I use this almost always on supportheroes who have it in their talents. And I've never regretted it. I think it's good because as a support you are supposed to stay on as high hp as possible. Always pick this unless you try to build more of an aggressive healer or damage build since staying above 80% might be harder.
Warning: Be really careful about your mana tho. A healer without mana, is no good healer. However since you're Brightwing you can just recall back to base and
Phase Shift back
Tier 7 (lv 20)
Brightwing Choose - REVITALIZING MIST or STORM SHIELD
Revitalizing Mist is my base pick here since you as Brightwing should stay around teammates. Brightwing-Team=Brightwing Dead. With this you can actually heal really good between reload time of
Blink Heal. However if you need more burst supporting between the reload time of it instead you can pick
Storm Shield.
Why I do not use Rewind on Brightwing Top
Rewind is a great talent which can turn the tide of a fight into your teams favor. However with this build it has no great need. All your abilities (assuming you picked
Blink Heal) has a relatively short CD
and both
Hyper Shift and
Hardened Focus makes your only ability with an actual Loooooooooong CD(
) recharge faster. Therefore, in my opinion, the talent is kinda a waste.
I am not saying that the talent is bad, just that with this build it ain't worth it.
A Quick Thanks Top
Thank you for reading and I hope this build can help you with some plays of this awesome hero (
