These guides are a TL;DR version of my personally prefered way to play a hero. They do not claim to show the ultimate way to play the character (albeit possible) and they will not go in-depth on matchups, playstyle, tricks or every single talent.
Level 1
Power Throw
- Synergizes with
BOOMerang
Hammer Time
- Allows you to snipe people
Level 4
Charged Up
- Synergizes with
Thunderstrikes
- The consistent damage will wreck squishies and help you immensely against tanks
Level 7
BOOMerang
- Controlled burst with large AoE
- Helps clearing waves faster and does significant AoE damage in teamfights
Level 10
Hinterland Blast
- High AoE Burst
- If you have no CC or defense for you at all you can take
Mighty Gust
Level 13
Thunderstrikes
- Allows us to deal with tanks and assassins
- Tanks will crumble to the consistent damage and assassins won't be able to burst you before you burst them
Level 16
Hammer Time
- Stun on a carry? Great. Stunning multiple people as a carry? Crazy.
Level 20
Nexus Frenzy
- Safe choice to increase your DPS and with the higher range also give you more safety
Call of the Wildhammer
- Riskier choice, relying on you hitting many people with your ultimate, but if you can conistently hit many it's really strong
This build is mainly for going in a group with at least one tank and one healer. This isn't made to work for you being solo a lot, though it might work there too.
- Stay in the backline in teamfights
- Use your Hammerang and BOOMerang talent to hit as many enemies as possible
- Lightning Rod anything that comes close enough, Assassins > Tanks
- Use Barrel Roll only if you have to, you will probably only have one per fight up
- Hinterland Blast if they line up at any point
- Consistently autoattack and keep your distance, you as a carry may hit tanks, because you are the one bringing them down, though if a better target is close enough, hit them instead
