Greetings fellas. My name is Raven, and I'd like to share my experiences with Nova. As you already knew, Nova is a really strong single-target character. When she meets someone 1v1, and the first hit is hers, Nova's target will be dead. Probably. Well, I mean usually. This guide really focuses on stealth based single target attacks. If someone finds you with a randomly cast spell, or nearby AoE damage, (I'll write about this later) you're good as dead, if there are no teammates around to save your arse.
1.:First talent, is the Ambush Spine, which increases snipe damage if used from Cloak. This is a really useful talent, and will do pretty well, against specialists/assassins/supports and even warriors. It's not really situational, I recommend using this skill.
2.: Second talent is the Gathering Power. It will increase your ability power by a default 5% and stacks if you kill enemies, up to a maximum 15%. In this build, you do not rely on auto attacks, so this skill is REALLY useful. With the 15% plus dmg bonus it's even better, but that will rarely occur. (You can use Envenom as well here, although it won't do that high dmg, and because it deals damage over time, there is a slight chance your target won't die.)
3.:Anti Armor Shells. Basic attacks deal 250% more dmg? Hell yeah. It is REALLY useful, during the attacking, (I mean pressing the Q here) she will do an auto attack as well. 250% more dmg is a huge difference, and, yes, your attack speed will be much lower, but you do not even need fast attack speed, you're not Tychus. Nova's playstyle is "shoot-shoot-shoot" run. If the target isn't dead, he/she will catch you, attacks you with a DoT, and you're good as dead. This skill helps you killing your enemy much faster, and if you do not kill him/her (maybe it) the target will be in panic, and likely run. (Best description ever right?)
4.:The Ultimate. Personally I prefer Triple Tap, but it's really situational. Both are good, it depends on your team, et cetera.
5.: Lethal Decoy. Nova's most useful "Oh damn they spotted me I better run" ability is the decoy. But sometimes you can't fool your enemies. If the decoy deals damage, it will be more likely to attack your little cutie clone, while you can escape. Of course, it has other benefits as well. Eg attacking a warrior, it is not likely that you will 1 shot him/her/it, so you need extra dmg, and it is a good thing your decoy is there right?
6.:Crippling shot. This talent will make enemies vulnerable, taking 25% increased dmg. If you're 1v1 someone, or even in a team fight, it is REALLY beneficial.
7.:Rewind. Resets the cooldown of basic abilities. Do I even need to explain? Decoy dmg, vulnerable target, and twice cast Q skill?
First things first, you need to do this rotation while you're in stealth. I kinda explained this in the Talent section, and I believe it is kinda obvious.
Q-Right Click-W
This is the basic rotation. For extra dmg you can use your E skill as well, and if you're really desperate killing your target, even your ultimate. And there is the instant refreshing cooldown 1 skill. Not by accident.
IF YOU'RE BEING CHASED just run. Run to the nearest bush/smoke, whatever, you know what I mean. While you're in there, press your E, in that way, the enemy won't and can't decide who and where are you. He/She/It will be too busy killing "you" while you can escape, or even doing a counterattack, (now in stealth again)
DURING TEAM FIGHT your Q is your most powerful skill, however, your W will make the target vulnerable. This is a huge help for your teammates as well. And you're not alone here, you do not need to 1 shot the target. Just believe me.
Basically that's it. The rest is logic.
Warriors are MUCH more tougher than assassins and supports. Sometimes you can't put them down alone. Where you use cunning tactics, or "hit and run" it is a dangerous game. Approach them really careful, and attack them ONLY if you're sure you won't die.
The
MOST annoying encounter is when you kill an enemy hero with the basic rotation, and a random Zeratul appears. You're doomed. Deal with it.
Thank you for reading this. I hope this build/guide/whatever helped you out a little bit :)
