good guide but at lv. 7 you really need "Rune Tap" - it gives you so much more sustain. Also the slow you get from your talent is absolutly unnessecary bcuz you already slow with your "e" ability
As i ve mentioned, i like using Arthas as roamer, and your frozent tempest to "actually" slow enemy, they should be damaged by it for 5 seconds non-interrupted, so that you can slow them by %30, instead you can go frost strike for a good roaming; You root enemy, activate frozen tempest, hit with frozen strike, and there you have the kill, he will be slowed by %50-%60.
I really, REALLY think rune tap is bandwagon effect, they look at it like; "Arthas is a tank, hmm then i should go for this awesome self sustain talent, its same like taking siphoning impact for kerrigan instead of sharpened blades, if you want to roam, play aggressive, and you already have a good tank, you dont need to keep a self sustain, you need to burst them down and create a panic around the enemy team with your slows, which will help your team destroy the targets you marked with frostmourne's slow, in high ranks people rarely over-extend, and your frozen tempest is not much punisihing, but this build makes you more terrifiying basically.
But Arthas is not much of a roamer. I think playing him as a lane pushing tank with good crowd controll in team fights is much better and also its very terrifiyng as well. If you let heroes like Thrall or Illidan roam and gank opponents its much better then a single tank having to lose a lot self sustain just for some good early game kills.
Actually neither thrall nor illidan is a good roamer. Watch every tourney, Arthas has always been used as roamer, the reason for that is, he has that great root and perfect character to punish that person who is rooted, Arthas has really good slows, Arthas is much like Tyrande, he helps team kill enemy, he is not initiator, he wont be a good first laner, or he wont be top dmg at anything, but when played well, he will secure so many kills for the team, thats why Arthas and Tyrande is always used in tournament but very few in quick matches or hero leagues, they are heroes those have really high skill cap, people really dont see their pontetial and waste it with Rune tap, or army of dead kinda talents, im not saying they are totally garbage but taking those talents for Arthas is same for not taking lunar flare range for Tyrande, not taking chain bomb for Kael'thas, you will be just limiting that heroes main speciality.
I just wanted to say that Arthas is a tank in the first place - not a roamer. Sure you can perfectly use him to do so but Arthas is still a tank. Rune Tap and Army of the Dead fits very well into this role. If you have a scnd. tank like a lot of teams like to do you can use him for other pouposses than his tank role.
My grammer might be really bad - im sorry for that^^
but still you wrote a great guide
I beg to differ, as blizzard said it themselves, "Warrior does not necessarily mean a tank, johanna might fill that class perfectly" Arthas is a roamer, has roaming kit but ppl seem to ignore those kits and go for rune tap and all, we saw in tournament how it should be used, but people still dont understand what "Warrior" actually means, Sonya is a warrior not a Tank, Chen is a warrior not a Tank, Johanna, Leoric, Muradin are warriors and Tanks. I ve written "2nd Tank" because Arthas cant take all the damage by himself, even with tank build, x2 shields + rune tap, you wont be enough, even if you are enough you will be sacrifing the most important kits of Arthas, double frostmourne attack+frozen strike+rooting enemy with sindragosa, Arthas should be clashing enemy ranks, not going there and taking all the damage he can, tank's job is not to take all the damage they can, but doing some harm meanwhile, Arthas cant do any harm meanwhile if you try to be Tank with him, making Arthas a tank is like playing a laner with Nova, i dont want to be offensive, and this is just my opinion, i wouldnt create this guide if i didnt see those Arthas uses in tourney as roamer, bcoz that was how i used Arthas always and when i saw it in tourney i was sure that i used him right, and just trying to break a bandwagon effect about "Warrior" class, i also play a lot of games Chen, people cant play him and say that he sucks too, just like Arthas, i play Chen as backline jumper warrior and outdmg some assassins, i sometimes die a lot when enemy has too many cc, but the point here is, Chen actually works as backline jumper warrior just like sonya, they dont suck, people just play them wrong.
but tbh chen is also a great tank - sure he can deliver some damage but as a tank chen is just amazing. And like i said, arthas can be used for both but i really think he is a perfect tank - and a lot of people think that 2.
I dont think neither of em are tanks, tank need some "disturbing kit" to get the attention, or else they would just ignore you if you play Chen or Arthas as a tank. I play them as 2nd warriors to clash trough enemy ranks and get some kills, with that tactic i do assassin amount of dmg, but thats just my style, maybe in tourneys we ll see some Arthas or Chen as solo warrior too, but i highly doubt it unless a patch hits them, i dont think they are meant to be tanks, blizzard kinda confirmed it too, thats my experience.
Chen is nothing without his drink, any good crowd control hero can counter chen very well, and look at enemy team, they have; Uther&Anub&Tyrande, they are highly on crowd control so best choice is obviously picking johanna, but the guy obviously didnt care they are countering chen, and passed johanna to pick chen. I watched the game guy dodged stun skillshots well, but barely helped his team, no damage, enemy team mostly ignored him, i really wouldnt trust who takes chen on these circumstances. Picking Chen as tank is one thing, making it work is another, and i dont see how he made it work, there is no single moment he tanked damage for his teammates. Its like he just took it for fun, he even picked the wandering keg ulti, and i see he uses it to get away... Storm&Earth&fire can be used for offense and also retreating, i dont think that guy is experienced with Chen. So I checked his profile, he has 27 matches and %51 winrate. So if experience matters, then i have 60 games with Chen and %64,4 winrate, so i really dont think you should take him as guide. Im not saying im pro Chen but i know mechanics...
