Genji is an Assassin but so far i can tell he is the best finisher of the game so far. He has great mobility and the ability to get in and out of an fight with a kill. The important thing on playing Genji is on the one hand to watch your CD on Dash and Deflect. On the other hand its so important WHEN to engage. The following guides are just an inspiration on how you can play genji :)
Table of Contents
1. Abilities
2. Pro's and Con's,
3. Synergies, Maps
4. Overall Build
5. Dash Build
6. Overwatch Build
7. Tipps and Tricks
Pro's:
- Extremly mobile
- Nice finish
- Great escape
Con's:
- almost no waveclear
- low health pool
- very weak against stuns, roots, silences and taunt
Auto Attacks:
Genji has a special kind of auto attacks: if hes near to the enemy he has melee attacks and going away from his target he is ranged. BUT special about his auto attack is that even beeing ranged he can move while he started autoattacking. This means he can perfectly kite enemies, follow them.
So always move while attacking.
Simple Rule:
Moving = Survival = Damage
His Swift Strike:
Genji's Swift Strike is an awesome abilty because you can dash Threw walls, gates, towers. Just be sure to get behind your target, otherwise Genji will stop before your targeted destination.
Care:
His Dash can be interupted. If an root is casted and Genji will try to dash OVER it, he will be rooted in it.
Chromies Time Trap
is special. If Genji dashes threw it, he will get in stasis and after leaving he will continue his travel. So be careful.
Ganks:
Genji is perfect for fast ganks in this game, because he can jump over Wall with his trait and also dashes. If you play Genji try to gank often but use your brain: Ganking a full live Anub can be devastating for you.
Mana:
Normally you would think that Genji doest need that much mana but he does. Try not to fight with low mana. You lose your mobility and your finish abilities.
Last but not least: Teamfight and Ult use
Try always to poke a bit with your Shuriken and auto attacks. Try to avoid dmg and if you have to use Deflect dont try to engage right after. Wait until you have your Swift Strike and your Deflect up to get in and out easily. Dragonblade and your full engage should be mostly the same. Which means: wait for the enemy targets to drop in health so you see your chance to kill an enemy with our Dash and ult. Than use your ult and dash immediatly after it so you dont have to do it in front of your enemy. He is lucky if an Genji is standing in front of him trying to pull his blade while he can shoot you.
