 Abathur Abbathur vs Abbathur. Sounds like fun! Let the best Abby win!

 Arthas Not a real threat to you. If you are on his head as a hat you make Arthas REALLY survivable and maybe borderline busted.

 Chen Great hat target. Drink your problems away with him and have a good time.

 Diablo Sick nasty hat target. Drop your kit on the charge in and shield when he picks them up over his head.

 Illidan Best hat target in the game Illidan is avoiding damage doing damage and always staying longer than he should. Abbathur rates 8/8 no hate.

 Johanna Second best hat target in the game. I don't think Johanna can die with you no her head. That's no exaggeration. Throw in a heal or two and you have a sick nasty combo.

 Li Li She is actually a good hat target if she is going a damage build decent range for you and her heals are good. You'll do a lot of fun damage but you'll probably lose if you get caught up in the cheese.

 Sgt. Hammer Kinda garbage to have her on your team with Abbathur. Against you it's pretty easy to avoid her defense and split push on her. Terrible hat target.

 The Butcher Great hat and he'll never kill you. In-fact I would say third best hat target in the game. (It's close with Valla right now) You will probably lose the game if you are in HL and you pick Abby/Butcher.

 Thrall Great hat target. That's about it though.

 Valla Fantastic hat target probably fourth best in the game. She'll be a nuisance to your push and she'll kill your monstrosity too.

   No Threat

 Malfurion Pay attention to the moonfires on your creeps. Time your networked carapaces with him like you would with Jaina or KT or anyone for that matter. Not a great hat target just save his wretched life with it.

 Sonya Fun hat target. She is no threat. Well unless she uses her 70 second cooldown leap on you. Then, ya. Congrats you killed an Abbathur.

 Tassadar His reveal will find you. But he'll need a team to get you should be able to Deep Tunnel out before he ever does enough DPS to kill you. Not a good hat.

 Tychus Decent hat target. Although he doesn't need it. That grenade halves your health at level 1 - 4. So watch out.

 Tyrael I have been Judgemented before along with being teleported on with his sword. He's a good hat target but he doesn't need it. Placing it on the assassin is better.

 Azmodan That dunk kinda hurts watch out. Also your bugs give stacks. It's hard to hit but it is possible. He's not a good hat target though.

 Brightwing Great hat target here. He isn't much of a threat to you but try to get rid of him in a team-fight.

 E.T.C. Decent hat target he's always moving though and he pushes people away it's a little lack luster in the end. No threat to you though unless he Stage Dives you?

 Kerrigan This is like bread and butter just get ready to time your stuff out. Kerrigan can secure the kill by herself. Meaning you are there to keep people off her and give her shield. Also that ultralisk has killed me in my base before. So stupid...

 Nazeebo You'll have to bounce around lanes to get away from his push. He's not that great of a hat either he needs to move around too much and he has plenty of health anyways.

 Anub'arak There is a chance that this guy can get near you if you aren't being careful so watch out. As his hat you can drop a lot of bugs and damage. Although Anub'arak needs improvement. He's not perfect. He needs some time in the chrysalis.

 Jaina Sorta is a threat... One full critical blizzard actually kills you. Although how did she get near you anyways? Not a great hat unless your saving her life too. Copying her is fantastic.

 Kael'thas So one level 16 Flamestrike can actually kill you if you are a level or two behind. It's sorta silly. Also not that great for hat. Copying him is fantastic though.

 Rehgar Just when you think your Abbathur hat is really taking off there is this dude slowing your hat target and healing people right before they die from your stab.

 Tyrande That owl actually one shot me at level 16. I was mad. Tyrande needs nerf! JKJK She's a bad hat target too. She has to play far back.

 Uther This dude, if he's a knowledgeable player, will be doing silly stuff to your push that makes you upset. Like healing it destroying your creeps and always going for your monstrosity. Just avoid him. Also he's not that great to have on your Abbathur team because he needs to die to help heal the team sometimes and that's already 2 warm bodies down in a fight.

   No Threat

 Raynor Raynor's raiders actually will kill you all by themselves so there's that. But, he's a good target to hat he needs the damage mitigation. Oh, and that attack speed will be ridiculous.

 Gazlowe This little goblin destroys your push and will do so the whole game along with taking your hat damage with ease. Total butt hole to deal with.

 Murky Destroy's your push wholly and completely. HILARIOUS to kill people with an Abbathur/Murky combo though.

 The Lost Vikings He will out soak you and out push you so it's time to pray that someone ganks him all game. Make someone a hat and give them orders to kill these Lost Children.

 Zagara Ah yes your old, "master?". Well she's actually going to be your equal in damage and push if you are both on the same team it's probably best to both solo play. She's a huge threat to your push game though tell people to kill her creep for heaven's sake.

 Falstad This guys is a big threat if his balls are big enough. Not a good hat target unless you are trying to save his life to boot. Abbathur doesn't like this guy.

 Leoric Great hat target that's about it. Oh also big threat with his busted Ghost Walk thing. He will kill you and he won't care he died. He'll laugh about it.

 Muradin This guy, if he is a knowledgeable player, will be leaping over walls and will be looking for you all game. Total butt hole. Good hat though, like Johanna, after a Stoneform here a heal there, and an Avatar you can maximize your DPS with him and help your healer control your assassin's health instead of his constantly.

 Nova She'll be sniping you all game. Enjoy your stay in the fountain. GREAT target to copy. Not so much to hat.

 Stitches I have been hooked out of base more times than I would like to admit. Not a decent hat target either most players play back with him for the golden hook.

 Sylvanas Not a good hat target. She will destroy your push utterly. But having her on your team is really nice actually might be busted on Haunted Mines.

 Zeratul I wish I could place 6 red bars on this dude. He really is your only real threat in this game. You'll have to say hello to your new fountain home after the third death.

PRACTICE! Top

He doesn't require that much practice in my opinion. His abilities, although numerous, are easy to grasp and to land. There's no punishment to him using his (Your hat ability) as long as your in a safe spot. Also his can't be turned off this is a huge curse to Abbathur. Keep that in mind when you think your being sneaky... is great for warding as well.

I think the real mastery and professional play of an Abbathur comes in with supreme map awareness and keeping track of EVERYONE while still soaking lanes better than everyone.

Things that I think you should practice with him:
    Staying close to the lane for soak instead of relying on Symbiote.
    Using nest to ward and protect your team and you.
    Using nest to undermine a creep wave instead of trying to outright kill it.
    Being able to look at the mini-map while hitting your abilities.
    Using the mini-map for placing nest.
    The space bar and using the keyboard and mouse clicks to navigate around the mini-map. (I believe it's a Starcraft tactic. Not sure what it's called.)
    Good placement and timing with your Deep Tunnel movement ability.
    Shielding creeps right before AOE's instead of just whenever and then leaving the lane for another lane. (Really does undermine the other team more than you would think)

The Diversity Requires Logical Decisions. Top

Choosing your talents with Abbathur is very difficult or sometimes it's a no brainer. Pay attention to the map and pay attention to your teams flaws. For example Butcher and Illidan do NOT need more damage they do plenty alone. You're there to keep them alive and stim their damage a little. Also you are there to soak a lane for your team. Just really pay attention to the maps and team comp.

Don't be afraid to play around a bit with Abbathur ALL of his talents are decent but they require him to play somewhat differently. One thing that stays static is that he needs to be soaking a lane or pushing a lane. You should have close to same hero damage as the melee assassin and you should be doubling everyone's XP contribution.

Abbathur is an easy hero to play.

It's a bold claim I know. But, with very little practice it's not hard to get close to being great with this hero. Abbathur doesn't really require any knowledge other than knowing your own abilities and staring at the mini-map the whole game. Try to exploit and squeeze as much as possible from the limited time you get when you aren't saving teammates or dealing damage for objectives.

My Take On His Lore Top

He's a workaholic with a, "My company is better than yours will ever be." kinda attitude. He might be right too. He evolved and shaped the Zerg into the war machine that they are today. From little "guidance" from the Overmind and the Queen of Blades he constructed, or rather spun, genetic material for the armies of the Zerg. He's easily offended and a hyper-intelligent bug. All in all he's a good bug once you get to know him but, I think he'd rather we all had a little less "infected" material in our genes.
